SCOPE 1.1 Form T
6、his specification covers a copper-zinc alloy (brass) in the form of wire. 1.2 Application This wire has been used typically for woven wire screening, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The following publications form a part of this document to the extent specified
7、 herein. The latest issue of SAE publications shall apply. The applicable issue of other publications shall be the issue in effect on the date of the purchase order. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Comp
11、osition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in accordance with ASTM E478, by spectrochemical methods, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. Limits may be established and analysis required for unnamed elements by agreement between the manufacturer or supplier and purchaser. 3.1.2 Zinc
13、 may be reported as “remainder”, or as the difference between the sum of results for all elements and 100%, or as the result of direct analysis. 3.1.3 When all named elements in Table 1 are analyzed, the sum shall be 99.7% minimum, but such determination is not required for routine acceptance of eac
14、h lot. 3.2 Condition Cold-drawn or cold-rolled, and annealed (O61) (see 8.2). 3.3 Properties Wire shall conform to the following requirements: 3.3.1 Average Grain Size Shall be 0.035 to 0.070 mm, determined in accordance with ASTM E112 on a longitudinal section. 3.3.2 Twisting Wire under 0.050 inch
15、(1.27 mm) in diameter shall show no evidence of breaking after two strands of wire are twisted around each other ten times per inch (25 mm) of length.
