When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.3). 3.2 Materials and c
18、omponents. The materials and components shall be as specified herein and on the applicable drawings. Materials and components not definitely specified shall be of the quality normally used by the manufacturer provided the completed item complies with all the provisions of this document. n 3.2.1 Plas
19、tic. The plastic material for the cap shall be virgin polypropylene copolymer conforming to the requirements specified in table I when tested as specified in 44.1.1. The polypropylene used in the manufacture of the cap plus other materials used in the fabrication of the plastic shall con
22、form to the requirements of 21 CFR Part 177 - Indirect Food Additives: Polymers (see 4.4.1.2). 3.3 Design and construction. The design and construction of the cap assembly shall be as specified herein and shown on 5-81-139 and subsidiary drawings. 3.4 Molded cap requireinents. 3.4.1 Molding method.
23、The molded sap (Drawing 5-81-118) shall be . injection molded from the plasticmaterial specified in 3.2.1. * 3.4.2 Color._ The color of the M1 cap shall approximate Olive Drab 34087, lusterless, of FED-STD-595. 3.4.3 Environmental stress -cracking resistance. The molded cap shall show no evidence of
24、 stress cracking when-tested as specified in 4.4.2.2. 3.4.4 Torque strength. The molded cap shall not slip,- disengage, or crack when tested as specified in 4.4.2.2. - 3.4.5 Hinge strength. The molded cap hinge shall not split into two different pieces after 25,000 flexes with a-load of 1.43 kilogra
25、ms f 0.03 kilogram when tested as specified in 4.4.2.2. 3.5 Assembled cap requirements. 3.5.1 Leakage resistance. The.,cap assembly shall not leak when tested as . ; specified in 4.4.5. 3.5.2 Air flow resistance. The cap assembly shall have an air flow resistance no greater than 1.0 inch of water wh
26、en tested as specified in 4.4.5. 3.6 Workmanship. The cap shall be free from fractures, splits, punctures, tears, dents, deteriorations, or malformations. The exterior surfaces of the cap shall have a smooth and lusterless finish throughout and shall be free of dirt, dust, grease and foreign matter.

28、m IHS-,-,-MIL-C -5 12 78D 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contra
29、ct or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this document where such i
30、nspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. .Y + 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this document shall become a P part of the contractors overall inspectio
31、n system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirement in the document shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conform
32、ance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. w 4.1.2 Responsibility for dimensional requirements. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is resp
33、onsible for assuring that all specified dimensions have been met. When dimensions cannot be examined on the end item, inspection shall be made at any point or at all points in the manufacturing process necessary to assure compliance with all dimensional requirements. 4.1.3 Certificates of compliance
34、. When certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b
35、. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 6.2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in table IV and tested as specified in 4.4.4 and 4.5.1 through 4.5.5. failure to pass any test shall be cause for rejection of the.firs

37、rdance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this document or applicable purchase doc
38、ument. si 4.4.1.1 Material certification. The polypropylene material for the cap shall be accepted on the basis of a contractors certificate of compliance with the characteristics listed in table II. TABLE II. A certificate of compliance will be acceptable as evidence that the gasket, valves, female connector, bracket, or spring conforms to the material and dimensional requ
42、irements specified on Drawing 5-81-131, 5-81-135, 5-81-137, or 5-81-138, whichever is applicable. 4.4.2 In-process inspection. 4.4.2.1 Mold approval. Prior to use in regular production, each mold shall be used to produce an initial production lot of cap shells and one cap shell shall be randomly sel
43、ected from that lot. The cap shell shall be examined for conformance to all dimensions specified on the applicable drawing. If the cap is found to conform to all dimensional requirements, the related mold shall be approved. If the cap shell fails to conform to any dimensional requirement, an additio
44、nal five cap shells shall be randomly selected from the initial production lot and examined for all dimensions. If any additional cap shell fails to conform to any dimension, the related mold and initial production lot shall be rejected. When any mold is repaired or altered in any way, mold reapprov
45、al in accordance with the above procedure is required. 4.4.2.2 In-process testing of cap shells. Prior to beginning regular production, four cap shells shall be selected at random from the initial production lot and tested as specified in table III. be cause for rejection of the lot. Necessary chang
46、es to the materials and procedure shall be made and testing as above shall be repeated. Whenever any change in material or manufacturing process is made, the initial lot produced after the change shall be tested as above. Any test failure shall TABLE III. 48、IL-C-51278D 4.4.3 End item visual examination. The end item shall be examined for the defects listed in table IV. The Sample unit shall be one cap. The inspection level shall be II and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5 for major defects
49、 and 6.5 for total (major and minor combined) defects. The lot size shall be expressed in units of caps. TABLE IV.
