1、Designation: D 7173 05Standard Practice forDetermining the Separation Tendency of Polymer fromPolymer Modified Asphalt1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 7173; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the

2、year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This practice describes a laboratory procedure for de-termining the tendency of polymer to separate from poly

Summary of Practice3.1 A measured quantity of polymer modified asphalt in asealed aluminum tube is conditioned in a vertical position for48 h at a temperature of 163 6 5C (325 6

7、10F). At the endof the conditioning period, top and bottom portions areseparated and subjected to further testing to determine thedegree of separation. Tests chosen for this purpose depend onthe polymer modification system being evaluated and the typeof information desired by the user. Softening Poi

Allow the tube to stand undisturbedin the oven for a

At the end of theconditioning period, remove the tube from the oven, and placeit immediately in the freezer at -10 6 10C (14 6 18F), takingcare to keep the tube in a vertical position at all times. A hammerand cutting tool is normally used, but other means areappropriate if they can make a clean separation. Discard thecenter
