、Designation: F1564 13Standard Specification forStructure-Mounted Insulating Work Platforms for ElectricalWorkers1This standard is issued under the fixed designation F1564; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of

、 last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers the design testing of mechani-cal and electrical characteristics of structure-mounted insul

、at-ing work platforms used by electrical workers.1.2 Platforms covered by this specification are singleworkerplatforms not exceeding 9 ft (2.75 m) in length. Platformsdesigned to support more than one worker at a time are beyondthe scope of this specification.1.3 Non-insulating platforms are not wit

、hin the scope of thisspecification.1.4 The use and maintenance of this equipment are beyondthe scope of this specification.1.5 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for informatio

、n onlyand are not considered standard.1.6 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest method portion, Section 9 of this specification: Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the userof this sta

、 area of theplatform.4. Significance and Use4.1 Insulating work platforms covered by this specificationare designed to be used by electrical workers in conjunctionwith personal protective equipment while working on ener-gized circuits. This shall include, but not be limited to:4.1.1 Insulating glove

、s with protectors or insulating andinsulated hotsticks, or both.4.1.2 A fall protection device that does not compromise theelectrical insulating protection of the platform.4.2 The test procedures in this specification provide anobjective means of determining if a platform meets minimumelectrical and

、 mechanical specifications. The methods permittesting of major components of the platform under controlledconditions.4.3 The test procedures utilize objective criteria for evalu-ation and may be discontinued at any time defects are found.5. Ordering Information5.1 Orders for platforms under this spe
