2、rotection Association has issued the following Tentative Interim Amendment to NFPA 105, Standard for Smoke Door and Other Opening Protectives, 2016 edition. The TIA was processed by the Technical Committee on Fire Doors and Windows and was issued by the Standards Council on December 8, 2015, with an

3、 effective date of December 28, 2015. A Tentative Interim Amendment is tentative because it has not been processed through the entire standards-making procedures. It is interim because it is effective only between editions of the standard. A TIA automatically becomes a public input of the proponent

4、for the next edition of the standard; as such, it then is subject to all of the procedures of the standards-making process. 1. Revise section 7.5.4 and 7.5.5 to read as follows: 7.5.4 If the damper is equipped with a variable air volume system, acceptance testing shall be conducted after the buildin

5、g mechanical ventilation system has been balanced and in operation under maximum air flow. 7.5.5 A record of these inspections and testing shall be made in accordance with 7.6.4. 2. Revise section 7.6.3.3 to read as follows: 7.6.3.3 Testing of dampers with actuator shall comply with the following pr

6、ocedure: (1) Visually confirm that the damper is in the fully-open position. (2) Verify that all obstructions, including hands, are out of the path of the damper blades and then remove electrical power or air pressure from the actuator to allow the actuators spring return feature to close the damper

7、. (3) Visually confirm that the damper closes completely. (4) Reapply electrical power or air pressure to reopen the damper. (5) Visually confirm that the damper is in the fully-open position.
