It was issued by the Standards Council onAugust 18, 2015, with an effective date of September 7, 2015, and supersedes all previouseditions.A Tentative Interim Amendment (TIA) to 2.3.6, 4.7.1, 4.16.3.1, 7.6.5.1, 8.2.7, and 9.1.

31、4 wasissued on August 18, 2015. 32、n and Development of NFPA 1917In October 2008, the Standards Council, after receipt of a request from the TechnicalCommittee on Automotive Fire Apparatus for the development of a standard for ambulances,approved the establishment of a Technical Committee on Automotive Ambulances. The Com-mittee deve

33、loped the first (2013) edition of NFPA 1917, Standard for Automotive Ambulances,which established the minimum requirements for the design, performance, and testing ofnew automotive ambulances used for out-of-hospital medical care and patient transport.For the 2016 edition, the committee made several

34、 significant changes throughout theentire document as a result of many task group meetings with national stakeholder organiza-tions as well as task groups from within the committee. When the 2013 edition was published,the document immediately went back into a revision cycle so as to include several

35、crucial testresults for the 2016 edition. The committee also heard from several national stakeholderorganizations about concerns regarding some of the requirements within the document thatmight keep the document from being adopted. Based on the high level of interaction andinvolvement from the publi

36、c, the committee made several significant changes to the docu-ment for the second edition. Before the document entered its revision cycle for the 2016edition, the committee made changes to the document by utilizing the option of a TentativeInterim Amendment (TIA) to address some of the immediate con

37、cerns. Some of the areas inthe document that were changed via a TIA included the deletion of Chapter 9 and additionalreferencing of the applicable AMD (Ambulance Manufacturers Division of the NTEA) testingstandards. This was done largely to reduce confusion and any potential conflict betweenNFPA 191

38、7 and the AMD testing standards. The committee also made changes to the State-ment of Exceptions to make it easier for the document to be adopted. Other areas thecommittee made changes to include the maximum speed now being related to the rating ofthe tires on the vehicle rather than a specific spee

39、d limit, thus leaving it up to the AHJ todetermine the maximum speed. The committee also made several changes to the require-ments regarding the retroreflective materials used on the outside of the vehicle as well as thepatterns that could be used on the outside of the vehicle. This change gives the

40、 AHJ the abilityto determine what patterns or designs are on the vehicle, rather than there being one pre-scribed pattern. Altogether, for the 2016 edition, more than 300 changes have been incorpo-rated into the document to reflect the needs and demands of the first responder communityin regard to t

46、,001 lb(4536 kg) to 14,000 lb (6350 kg) gross vehicle weight rating(GVWR) constructed on a cab chassis with a modular am-bulance body.3.3.3.3 Type I-AD (Additional Duty) Ambulance. An ambu-lance with a 14,001 lb (6351 kg) or more GVWR con-structed on a cab chassis with a modular ambulance body.3.3.3

47、.4 Type II Ambulance. An ambulance constructed ona van.3.3.3.5 Type IIIAmbulance. An ambulance with a 10,001 lbto 14,000 lb GVWR constructed on a cutaway van chassiswith integrated modular ambulance body.3.3.3.6 Type III-AD (Additional Duty)Ambulance. An ambu-lance with a 14,001 lb or more GVWR cons

The smallest angle made be-tween the road surface and a line drawn from the frontpoint of ground contact of the front tire to any projectionof the ambulance in front of the front axle.3.3.4.2 Angle of

The smallest angle made be-tween the road surface and a line drawn from the rearpoint of ground contact of the rear tire to any projection ofthe ambulance behind the rear axle.3.3.4.3 Ramp Breakover Angle.
