、r FireHoseAppliances 2014Edition This edition of NFPA 1965, StandardforFireHoseAppliances, was prepared by the Technical Committee on Fire Hose. It was issued by the Standards Council on January 14, 2013, with an effective date of February 3, 2013, and supersedes all previous editions. This edition

、of NFPA 1965 was approved as an American National Standard on February 3, 2013. OriginandDevelopmentofNFPA1965 The 2003 edition of NFPA 1965, Standard forFire HoseAppliances, was the first edition. The Technical Committee on Fire Hose heard reports of hose-connected appliances failing in use, someti

、mes catastrophically, sometimes just by not working properly when needed. The com- mittee developed this standard to provide some basic requirements that all hose-connected appliances must meet, in an effort to improve the usefulness and safety of appliances con- nected to fire hose. This standard c

、ompletes a set of standards designed to provide consistent requirements for the whole fire hose system. The 2009 edition is a general update of the 2003 edition. The 2014 edition of NFPA 1965 clarifies several terms, makes U.S. units of measure pri- mary and SI units secondary, and, for consistency,

、 uses the metric measurement bars instead of kilopascals. Further, there is a new section, Section 4.8, which is from NFPA 1963, Standard for Fire Hose Connections, and relates to connections for large-stream devices so that users unfamiliar with other standards will have the information they need.

、Finally, the term dis- charge has been changed toflow where appropriate, as in NFPA 1964,StandardforSprayNozzles, to relate it to water moving through a nozzle, thus eliminating confusion. 19651 NFPA and National Fire Protection Association are registered trademarks of the National Fire Protection A
