It was issued by the Standards Council on November27, 2012, with an effective date of December 17, 2012, and supersedes all previous editions.This edition of NFPA 505 was appr

31、oved as an American National Standard on December17, 2012.Origin and Development of NFPA 505Chapter 1 (formerly Part A) of this standard was originally designated as NFPA 505A andwas first adopted by the Association in 1951. Chapters 8 and 9 (formerly Parts A and B),“Maintenance of IndustrialTrucks”

32、 and “Fuel Recharging, Marking, and Operation of Indus-trial Trucks,” were originally adopted in 1952 and published by NFPAunder the designationsNFPA 505B and 505C, Standards for the Maintenance and Safe Operation of Industrial Trucks. In1955, the three documents were combined into one standard, NFP

33、A 505. Revisions weremade in 1955, 1957, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1978, 1982,and 1987. The 1971 edition was the first edition to be approved byANSI.In the 1992 edition, Group F was added to the list of classified locations to correlate withNFPA 70, National Electri

34、cal Code.In the 1996 edition, changes were made to the types of trucks listed for operation in ClassI, Division 2 locations, and a new Type DX designation was added. Also, a new section oncompressed natural gas (CNG) was added, and related changes to the chapters on dual-fueltrucks and converted tru

35、cks were made.The 1999 edition was revised to make the entire document more user-friendly and tofacilitate its use with NFPA 70.The 2002 edition was editorially reorganized to conform with the Manual of Style for NFPATechnical Committee Documents and to further clarify specific use areas for industr

36、ial trucks.Changes to the 2006 edition were primarily editorial reviews that clarified requirementsand provided additional information on hazardous areas and their classifications.The 2011 edition saw an expansion of applicability to address fuel cell systems and conver-sions.Thematerialontheelectri

Inlocations used for the storage of flammable liquids in sealedcontainers, or liquefied or compressed flammable gases incontainers, approved power-operated industrial trucks desig-nated as Type CNS, Type DS, Type ES, Type G

41、S, Type LPS, orTypeGS/CNS,andTypeGS/LPS,TypeDX,TypeDY,TypeEE,and Type EX shall be permitted to be used.5.2 Areas Presenting Potential Hazards Not Addressed inChapter 4. The authority having jurisdiction shall determinewhich types of approved power-operated industrial trucksshall be used following an

42、 engineering survey of the propertyand an evaluation of the fire and explosion hazards.5.3 PiersandWharves.Whereitisdeterminedthatthelocationon piers and wharves used for handling general cargo is not haz-ardous,approvedpower-operatedindustrialtrucksdesignatedasType CGH, Type CN, Type D, Type E, Typ

43、e G, Type LP, TypeG/CN, or Type G/LP, or trucks that conform to the require-ments for these types, shall be permitted to be used.5.4 General Inside and Outside Storage. Where it is deter-mined that the location for general storage in warehouses orgeneral outside storage is not hazardous, any power-o

44、peratedindustrial truck designated as Type CGH, Type CN, Type D,Type E, Type G, Type LP, Type G/CN, or Type G/LP shall bepermitted to be used, or trucks that conform to the require-ments for the specified types shall be permitted to be used.5.5 General Industrial or Commercial Properties. Where it i

45、sdetermined that the location on a general industrial or com-mercial property used for handling and/or processing materi-als (with storage being incidental to handling and processing)is not hazardous, any approved power-operated industrialtruck designated asType CGH,Type CN,Type D,Type E,TypeG, Type

46、 LP, Type G/CN, or Type G/LP shall be permitted tobe used, or trucks that conform to the requirements for thespecified types shall be permitted to be used.Chapter 6 Dual-Fuel Trucks6.1 General. A dual-fuel truck shall be a truck that is equippedto be operated using either gasoline or LP-Gas or to be

47、 operatedusing either gasoline or CNG without further modification.6.2 Requirements.6.2.1 Fuel system parts that come into contact with gasolineshall meet the requirements for liquid fuel inANSI/UL 558.6.2.2 Fuel system parts that come into contact with CNG fuelshall meet the requirements for CNG fu

48、el in NFPA52.6.2.3 Fuel system parts that come into contact with LPG fuelshall meet the requirements for LPG fuel inANSI/UL 558.6.2.4 Fuel system parts that come into contact with gasolineand LPG fuel or with gasoline and CNG fuel shall be compat-ible with both fuels.Chapter 7 Conversion of Trucks7.
