SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers nyl

3、on duck cloth. 1.2 ClassificationClass 1 - Untreated . The nylon duck cloth shall be of the following classes, as specified (see 6.1). Class 2 - Melamine resin treated (extra stiff) (0.45-0.65 pounds warp/0.65-0.85 pounds filling) Class 3 - Melamine resin treated (parachute procurement only) (0.3-0.

In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulati

19、ons unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Standard. The finished cloth shall match the standard for shade and appearance and shall be equal to or better than the standard with respect to all characteristics for which the standard is referenced (see 6.2). 3.2 Material3.2.

20、1 . Nylon. The nylon shall be a high tenacity bright nylon polyamide. The nylon shall be either Nylon 6 with a minimum melting point of 392F (203C) or Nylon 6,6 with a minimum melting point of 471F (244C) when tested as specified in 4.2.3. 3.3 Color. The color of the finished cloth shall be as speci

21、fied by the procuring activity (see 6.1). 3.3.1 Visual shade matching. If the fabric is dyed, the color of the dyed fabric shall match the standard when viewed using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure 9, Option A, with sources simulating artificial daylight D75 illuminate with color temperature of 7500

22、200K, illumination of 100 20 foot candles, and shall be a good match to the standard under incandescent lamplight at 2856 200k. PIA-C-3953F Page 4 of 9 3.3.2 Colorfastness. 3.3.2.1 Dyed fabric. The cloth shall be dyed or natural and shall not be bleached in any manner or process. 3.5.1 Resin treatment. 3.5.1.1 Resin treatment, Class 2 (extra stiff)pounds load in the warp and 0.65 to 0.85 pounds load in th

26、e filling when tested as specified in 4.2.3. . The Class 2 cloth shall be impregnated with a suitable type of melamine resin and the finished cloth shall have a stiffness of 0.45 to 0.65 PIA-C-3953F Page 5 of 9 3.5.1.2 Resin treatment, Class 3 for parachute procurement only. The Class 3 cloth for pa

27、rachute procurement shall be impregnated with a suitable type of melamine resin and the finished cloth shall have a stiffness of 0.3 to 0.4 pounds load in the warp and 0.4 to 0.5 pounds load in the filling when tested as specified in 4.2.3. 3.5.2 pH3.6 . The pH value of the water extract of the fini

28、shed cloth shall not be lower than 5.5 or higher than 9.0 when tested as specified in 4.2.3. Dimensional stability3.7 . The cloth shall have no more than 2.0 percent dimensional change in either the warp or filling direction when tested as specified in 4.2.3. Length and put-up. As required by the cu

29、rrent procurement agency (see 6.1). 3.8 Identification of product. Each roll of finished cloth shall be marked for identification in accordance with good commercial practice. In addition, each piece of cloth in each finishers roll shall be clearly and legibly marked with the finishers roll number or

30、 code, as specified in 4.2, and each roll shall have attached a durable tag on which the finishers roll number or code is listed. The date of manufacture (see 3.9.1) shall be included on the tag attached to each roll. 3.9 Age. The cloth shall not be more than 3 years old from the date of manufacture

31、r to the date of fabrication of parachute assemblies. The 3 years age requirement, as per paragraph 3.3.2 of MIL-DTL-6645, is for personnel parachute cloth only. 3.10 Date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing processing that affect

32、s the physical characteristics of the cloth. This would not include slitting, inspection or rewinding. 3.11 Workmanship. The finished cloth shall conform to the quality established by this specification. The demerit points per 100 square yards (84 m2), when calculated as specified in Section 4, shal

33、l not exceed the established maximum point value. 3.12 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered and environmentally preferable material should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance

34、requirements and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification for inspectionperformance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in t

35、his specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. . Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests)

36、as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use their own or any other facilities suitable for the 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of Sections 3 and 4. The inspection set forth in this specificati

37、on shall become a part of the contractors overall PIA-C-3953F Page 6 of 9 inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government

38、 for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to the requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor doe

39、s it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.1.2 Certificates of Compliance4.2 . When Certificates of Compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. Quality conformance inspectiontagged (see 3.8) with th

40、e number or code of the finishers roll of which it was a part. Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, sampling for examination shall be performed in accordance with section 4.2.2.1. . The quality conformance inspections shall be performed on every shippers roll, as specified. Shippers

41、 rolls are created after finishing when a finishers roll is divided for the purpose of handling and delivery. Each shippers roll shall be 4.2.1 Component and material inspectionunless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. . In accor

42、dance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents 4.2.2 End item examination4.2.2.1 . Examination of the end item shall be in accordance with the provisions of 4.2.2.1 through 4.2.2.4. Yard-by-yard examinationexamined. All def

43、ects, as defined in Section III of FED-STD-4, which are clearly noticeable at normal inspection distance (3 feet) shall be scored and assigned demerit points as listed in 4.2.2.1.1. No linear yard (increments of 1 yard on the measuring device of the inspection machine) from any one roll within the s

44、ample shall be penalized more than 4 points. The sample size shall be 20 rolls selected from 20 containers. The lot shall be unacceptable if the points per 100 square yards of the total yardage examined exceed 35 points. The lot shall be unacceptable if the points per 100 square yards or two or more

45、 individual rolls exceed 53 points. If one roll exceeds 53 points per 100 square yards, a second sample of 20 rolls shall be examined only for individual roll quality. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more rolls in the second sample exceed 53 points per 100 square yards. Point computation for

46、 lot quality and individual roll quality shall be as follows: . Each roll in the sample shall be examined. When the total yardage in the roll does not exceed 100 yards, the entire yardage in the roll shall be examined. When the total yardage in the roll exceeds 100 yards, only 100 yards shall be (To
