SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification c

3、overs rip stop and twill weave nylon parachute cloth. 1.2 Type designation. There shall be three types of nylon cloth of the following types and weaves, as specified (see 6.1). Type I - 1.1 oz/sq. yd., Rip Stop Weave Type II - 1.6 oz/sq. yd., Twill Weave Type III - 1.6 oz/sq. yd., Rip Stop Weave 2.

Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. 20、s document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Yarn. The nylon yarn used in the manufacture of all types of parachute fabric shall be continuous multifilament, bright, high tenacity, light and heat resistant polyamid

The yarn shall have a minimum melting point of 471F (244C) when tested in accordance with 4.5. The yarn shall not be bleached in any manner or process. The use of any

22、recycled material is prohibited, unless otherwise specified (see TABLE II). 3.1.1 Yarn twist. Any yarn twist (warp and/or filling) is acceptable, provided all requirements of this specification are met. 3.2 Fiber identification. Each roll of the finished cloth shall be labeled or ticketed and invoic

23、ed for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.3 Weave. 3.3.1 Type I weave. The weave pattern for Type I cloth shall be as specified in FIGURE 1 or FIGURE 1 Alternate. 3.3.2 Type II weave. The weave pattern for Type II cloth s

24、hall be a two-up and one-down twill as specified in FIGURE 2. 3.3.3 Type III weave. The weave pattern for Type III cloth shall be as specified in FIGURE 3 or FIGURE 3 Alternate. The physical and chemical properties shall conform to TABLE I and the following subparagraphs thereto. The

27、 frequency of testing shall be five tests across the width of the delivered fabric. For 72 inch wide fabric delivered without splitting, the number of tests shall be doubled; if the fabric is split by the finisher, the fabric is considered as 36 inches wide and will be tested at the frequency specif

The cloth shall be scoured to remove sizing and other contaminants at a temperature which will not cause fixation of same into cloth, or result in permanent setting of the cloth. The cloth covered by this specificati

29、on shall not be bleached, resinated or treated with oxalic or phosphoric acid in any manner or process (see 6.4). 3.4.2 Permanence of set. When the cloth is subjected to the test specified in 4.6.2, the permanence of the cloth set shall be as follows: a. The average of the air permeability readings

30、taken after testing shall be within 15 percent of the average of the readings taken before testing. b. The cloth shrinkage measured after testing shall not exceed 3.0 percent in either the warp or filling direction. c. The thickness of Type I shall not exceed 0.003 inch after testing as specified in

31、 TABLE IV. The thickness of Types II and III shall not exceed 0.004 inch after testing as specified in TABLE IV. 3.4.3 Water soluble material. The water soluble material of the finished cloth shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as specified in 4.6. 3.4.3.1 Silicone emulsion finish. The finished

32、 cloth shall contain a silicone emulsion finish so applied that it is evenly distributed throughout the cloth. The amount of finish added shall be a minimum of 0.3 percent based on the weight of the dry cloth. The finisher shall submit a certification for each finishers roll (see 4.5.3.3) indicating

33、 that the silicone emulsion finish was used. 3.4.4 pH. The pH value of the finished cloth shall not be less than 5.5 nor more than 9.0 when tested as specified in 4.6. 3.4.5 Color. The color of the finished cloth and its referenced standard shall be as specified by the procuring activity (see 6.2).

34、3.4.5.1 Dyeing. When dyed fabric is required, the fabric shall be yarn or piece dyed. 3.4.5.2 Visual shade matching. When evaluated in accordance with 4.6.5, the color of the dyed fabric shall match the standard when viewed with sources simulating artificial daylight D75 illuminant, and shall be a g

35、ood match to the standard under incandescent lamplight. 3.4.5.3 Colorfastness. 37、 Chromatic Transference Scale. 3.4.6 Light and heat resistance. The finished cloth shall not lose more than 25 percent of its original strength when tested in accordance with 4.6. 3.4.7 Dimensions. 3.4.7.1 Width. Unless otherwise specified, the overall width of the finished fabric shall be 36 inches

38、 inch, 48 inches inch, 60 inches inch, or 72 inches inch. The acceptable width shall be inclusive of the selvages (see 6.2). Unless otherwise specified, fringed selvages will not be allowed. The selvage shall be hot slit and sealed against raveling if woven on shuttleless looms. 3.4.7.2 Length and p

39、ut up. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), a shippers roll shall be a minimum of 100 yards with a minimum piece size of 50 yards. A shippers roll shall have a maximum of two splices with no more than 10 percent of the yards ordered containing splices. 3.4.7.3 Bias (skew) and bow in fabric. Bias an

40、d bow shall be measured according to ASTM D 3882. Requirements shall be as listed in TABLE VI. 3.5 Identification yarns. Unless otherwise specified, each roll of cloth shall have identification warp yarns as assigned per PIA-STD-851, a maximum of 2 inches from at least one selvedge edge of the finis

41、hed cloth. The dye used in the identification yarns shall have no adverse effect on the physical properties of the fabric and the dyed yarns shall show no bleeding or color transfer when subjected to the tests as specified in TABLE II. 3.6 Identification of product. Each roll of finished cloth shall

42、 be marked for identification in accordance with good commercial practice. In addition, each piece of cloth in each finishers roll shall be clearly and legibly marked with the finishers roll number or code, as specified in 4.4, and each roll shall have attached a durable tag on which the finishers r

43、oll number or code is listed. The date of manufacture (see 3.7) shall be included on the tag attached to each roll. 3.7 Date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects the physical characteristics of the cloth. This

The finished cloth s

45、hall be clean and evenly woven and shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specification and the occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable Acceptance Quality Limit. The finished cloth shall not show spottiness or be off shade of the standard range. The finis

46、hed cloth shall not have an objectionable odor (Normal residual odor of chemicals commonly used shall not be regarded as objectionable.). 3.9 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample representative of the production quality shall be subjected to the first article inspection in accordance wi

47、th 4.3. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or pur

48、chase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the procuring activity. The procuring activity reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification

49、where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of Sections 3, 4 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of
