TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:3.1 Material

17、: Shall be a water-base coating material containing no polyvinylchloride (PVC) or silicones and meeting the requirements of 3.2.3.2 Properties: Coating material shall conform to the following requirements:3.2.1 As Supplied:3.2.1.1 Viscosity: Shall be 1 to 10 centipoises (0.001 - 0.010 Pa.s) at25C 1

18、(77F 2), determined in accordance with ASTM D 445.3.2.1.2 Storage Life: Coating material shall show no abnormal change with agein sealed containers; it shall meet all other technical requirements ofthis specification at any time up to one year from date of shipment whenstored, under normal warehouse

19、 conditions, at 5 to 30C (41 to 86F).3.2.1.3 Corrosion of Metal Surfaces:3.2.1.3.1 Sandwich Corrosion: Test panels shall show a rating no worse than 2,determined in accordance with ASTM F 1110. Any dried coating shall beremoved from test panels with the remover solution described in 4.5.2.3.2.1.3.2

20、Total Immersion Corrosion: No test panel shall show evidence ofcorrosion nor a weight change greater than the following, determinedin accordance with ASTM F 483. 23、with ASTM F 519, Type 1a, 1c, or 2a, exceptthat the coating material shall be applied to the specimens and allowedto dry for the duration of the test.3.2.1.5 Flash Point: Shall be not lower than 60C (140F), determined inaccordance with ASTM D 56.3.2.1.6 Effect on Transparent Acrylic Plastics: There

24、shall be no crazing orstaining of stretched, MIL-P-25690 plastic, determined in accordancewith ASTM F 484. Any coating residue shall be removed with remover(4.5.2.1) in place of the normal rinse procedure.3.2.1.7 Effect on Unpainted Surfaces: The coating material, tested inaccordance with ASTM F 485

25、, shall neither produce streaking nor leaveany stains requiring polishing to remove. The remover (4.5.2.1) shallbe used in place of water during the rinse procedure.3.2.2 Applied Films: Shall be as specified in 3.2.2.1 through 3.2.2.4,determined on both painted and unpainted panels prepared as in 4.

26、5.1.3.2.2.1 Odor: Shall be mild, determined on contents of freshly-opened containerduring coating application and during curing.3.2.2.2 Color: Colorless, unless otherwise ordered by purchaser.3.2.2.3 Appearance: Coating shall form a homogenous film, free from craters,pin holes, and other imperfectio

27、ns causing discontinuity of the appliedcoating.3.2.2.4 Air Drying: Coating, air dried at 25C 3 (77 5), shall exhibit aset-to-touch condition in not more than 20 minutes and a dry-hardcondition in not more than 30 minutes, determined in accordance withASTM D 1640.3.2.3 Cured Films: Shall conform to 3

28、.2.3.1 through 3.2.3.7, determined on bothpainted and unpainted panels.3.2.3.1 Adhesion:- 4 -SAE AMS 1659AMS 16593.2.3.1.1 To Unpainted Surfaces: Coating, when applied as in 4.5.1, shall notchip, crack, or peel before or after bending a test panel rapidly atroom temperature through an angle of 180 d

29、egrees around a diameterequal to 18 times the nominal thickness of the panel; slight crackingon the bend portion is acceptable. Scraping the surface with a knifeblade or thin metal object in accordance with FED-STD-141, Method6304, shall produce a fine, powdery residue; flaking or peeling of thecoat

30、ing is not acceptable. Sand blasting of the film shall result infilm wear by abrasion and not by chipping or peeling.3.2.3.1.2 To Painted Surfaces: Two parallel scratches, approximately 1 inch(25 mm) apart, shall be made by a sharp stylus on the coated surfaceof a panel prepared as in 4.5.1. The scr

31、atches shall penetrate onlythe coating and not the paint. Place a piece of pressure-sensitivetape across the two scratches, apply sufficient pressure to ensureadhesion, and test in accordance with ASTM D 3359, Method A. Removalof the tape, using an abrupt motion, shall cause no separation of thecoat

32、ing from the painted surface.3.2.3.2 Removability: Coating on panels, prepared as in 4.5.1, shall becompletely removed when tested as in 4.5.2.3.2.3.3 Heat Resistance: Coating shall show no evidence of chalking orblistering and shall meet the adhesion (3.2.3.1) and removability(3.2.3.2) requirements

33、 after being heated to 120C 3 (248F 5) for100 hours 1.3.2.3.4 Fluid Resistance: Coating shall show no apparent deterioration andshall meet the adhesion (3.2.3.1) and removability (3.2.3.2)requirements after exposure to ASTM D 1655, Jet A-1, aviation turbinefuel as in 4.5.3 and ethylene glycol as in

34、4.5.4.3.2.3.5 Salt Spray Resistance: Coating, applied as in 4.5.1, shall meet therequirements of 3.2.3.5.1, 3.2.3.5.2, and 3.2.3.5.3 after exposure tocontinuous salt spray testing in accordance with ASTM B 117 as follows:3.2.3.5.1 There shall be no pitting or other evidence of corrosion on thesurfac

35、e of unpainted panels after exposure for 8 hours 0.25.3.2.3.5.2 There shall be no peeling or blistering of the coating on paintedpanel surfaces after exposure for 8 hours 0.25.3.2.3.5.3 Coating on both unpainted and painted panels shall meet therequirements for adhesion (3.2.3.1) and removability (3

36、.2.3.2) afterexposure for 8 hours 0.25.3.2.3.6 Resistance to Ultraviolet Light: Coating on a painted panel, preparedas in 4.5.1.4, shall not discolor more than an uncoated painted panel,prepared as in 4.5.1.3, when tested in accordance with ASTM D 4141,Procedure A, after exposure for 60 days and sha

37、ll meet the requirementsfor removability (3.2.3.2).- 5 -SAE AMS 1659AMS 16593.3 Quality:3.3.1 The coating material, as received by purchaser, shall be homogeneous, freefrom grit and rough particles, and free from ingredients of respiratorytoxicity under normal conditions of use.3.3.2 When applied by

38、 dipping, brushing, or spraying, the resultant film shallbe free-working and shall produce a cured coating that is smooth, uniform,free from tackiness, craters, pin holes, sags, runs, bubbles, and heavyedges, and shall have leveling properties acceptable to purchaser.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:

39、4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: The vendor of coating material shall supplyall samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for performing allrequired tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform anyconfirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the coating materialcon

40、forms to the requirements of this specification.4.2 Classification of Tests:4.2.1 Acceptance Tests: Tests for viscosity (3.2.1.1), odor (3.2.2.1), color(3.2.2.2), appearance (3.2.2.3), air drying (3.2.2.4), adhesion (3.2.3.1),and removability (3.2.3.2) are acceptance tests and shall be performed one

41、ach lot.4.2.2 Periodic Tests: Tests for heat resistance (3.2.3.3), fuel resistance(3.2.3.4), and salt spray resistance (3.2.3.5) are periodic tests andshall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequencyof testing is specified by purchaser.4.2.3 Preproduction Tests: Tests for al

42、l technical requirements of thisspecification, except storage life (3.2.1.2), are preproduction tests andshall be performed prior to or on the initial shipment of coating materialto a purchaser, when a change in ingredients and/or processing requiresreapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems c

43、onfirmatory testing tobe required.4.2.3.1 For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data and, whenrequested, preproduction test material shall be submitted to thecognizant agency as directed by the procuring activity, contractingofficer, or request for procurement.4.3 Sampling and Te

44、sting: Shall be as follows; a lot shall be all coatingmaterial produced in one continuous manufacturing operation from the samebatches of raw material under the same fixed conditions and presented forvendors inspection at one time.4.3.1 For Acceptance Tests: Sufficient coating material shall be take

45、n atrandom from each lot to perform all required tests. The number ofdeterminations for each requirement shall be as specified in theapplicable test procedure or, if not specified therein, not less than two.- 6 -SAE AMS 1659AMS 16594.3.2 For Periodic Tests and for Preproduction Tests: As agreed upon

46、 bypurchaser and vendor.4.4 Approval:4.4.1 Coating material shall be approved by purchaser before coating materialfor production use is supplied, unless such approval be waived bypurchaser. Results of tests on production coating material shall beessentially equivalent to those on the approved sample

47、.4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients and manufacturing processes on productioncoating material which are essentially the same as those used on theapproved sample coating material. If necessary to make any change iningredients or processing, vendor shall submit for reapproval a statementof the propose

48、d changes in ingredients and/or processing and, whenrequested by purchaser, sample coating material. Production coatingmaterial made by the revised procedure shall not be shipped prior toreceipt of reapproval.4.5 Test Methods:4.5.1 Test Panels:4.5.1.1 For all tests, panels shall be fabricated from A

49、MS 4041 aluminum alloy,approximately 0.032 x 4 x 9 inches (0.81 x 102 x 229 mm), and shall haverounded corners and smooth edges.4.5.1.2 Panels shall be cleaned free of water breaks, using a solutionconsisting of 4 parts n-butyl alcohol, 3 parts isopropyl alcohol, 1 part85% orthophosphoric acid, and 2 parts water. After cleaning, panelsshall be rinsed thoroughly with ASTM D 1193, Type IV, water at 20C 5(68F 9).4.5.1.3 Panels to be tested unpainted shall, after rinsing but without drying,be coated with coating material by brushing, spraying, or dipping t
