SCOPE: 1.1 Form: This speci

5、fication covers a silicone (VMQ) rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions, and molded shapes. 1.2 Application: Primarily for parts required to operate or seal from -55 to + 230C (-67 to +446 F), compounded specially for articraft piston engine oil resistance and low compression set. Si

6、licone elastomer is resistant to deterioration by weathering and by high-aniline-point petroleum-base oils normally suitable for use in contact with gasoline or aromatic fuels and low-aniline-point petroleum-base fluids due to excessive swelling of the elastomer. 1.3 Safety - Hazardous Materials: Wh

19、re agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 3.2.7 Corrosion: The product shall not have a corrosive effect on other materials when exposed to conditions normally encountered in service, determined by a procedure agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. Discoloration of metal shall not be considered objectio

20、nable. 3.3 Quality: The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, smooth, as free from foreign materials as commercially practicable, and free from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.4 Tolerances: Shall conform to AMS 2279 or MAM 2279. 4. QUALITY

21、 ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for performing all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that th

22、e product conforms to the requirements of this specification. AMS 3357G SAE AMS 3357G - 5 - 4.2 Classification of Tests: 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests: Tests for the following requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot: Requirement Paragraph Reference Hardness, as received 3.2.1.1

23、 Tensile Strength, as received 3.2.1.2 Elongation, as received 3.2.1.3 Specific Gravity 3.2.1.6 Petroleum Lubricating Oil Resistance 3.2.2 Compression Set 3.2.4 4.2.2 Preproduction Tests: Tests for all technical requirements are preproduction tests and shall be performed prior to or on the initial s

24、hipment of the product to a purchaser, when a change in ingredients and/or processing requires reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required. 4.2.2.1 For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data and, when requested, preproduction test material

25、 shall be submitted to the cognizant agency as directed by the procuring activity, contracting officer, or request for procurement. 4.3 Sampling and Testing: Shall be as follows: 4.3.1 For Acceptance Tests: Sufficient product shall be taken at random from each lot to perform all required tests. The

26、number of determinations for each requirement shall be as specified in the applicable test procedure if not specified therein, not less than three. 4.3.1.1 If specimens cannot be prepared from the product, ASTM test specimens prepared from the same batch and state of cure shall be used. When the pro

27、duct supplied is an extrusion of such shape that suitable test specimens cannot be cut from the product, a separate flat strip test sample from the same production lot shall be supplied upon request. This strip shall be prepared from tubing 1.000 inch 0.063 (25.40 mm 1.60) in OD by 0.075 inch 0.008

28、1.90 mm 0.20) in wall thickness, mechanically slit and flattened into a strip while being extruded, and cured in the same manner as production product. When the product is a molded shape from which test specimens cannot be cut, a slab 6 inches (152 mm) square by 0.075 inch 0.008 (1.90 mm 0.020) thi

29、ck molded from the same batch of compound shall be supplied upon request. 4.3.1.2 A lot shall be all product from the same batch of compound processed in one continuous run and presented for vendors inspection at one time. An inspection lot shall not exceed 500 pounds (227 kg) and may be packaged in

30、 smaller quantities and delivered under the basic lot approval provided lot identification is maintained. AMS 3357G SAE AMS 3357G - 6 - 4.3.1.3 A batch shall be the quantity of compound run through a mill or mixer at one time. 4.3.1.4 When a statistical sampling plan has been agreed upon by purchase

31、r and vendor, sampling shall be in accordance with such plan in lieu of sampling as in 4.3.1 and the report of 4.5 shall state that such plan was used. 4.3.2 For Preproduction Tests: As agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 4.4 Approval: 4.4.1 Sample product shall be approved by purchaser before prod

32、uct for production use is supplied, unless such approval be waived by purchaser. Results of tests on production product shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample. 4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures, processes, and methods of inspection on production pr

33、oduct which are essentially the same as those used on the approved sample product. If necessary to make any change in ingredients, in type of equipment for processing, or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shall submit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or process

34、ing and, when requested, sample product. Production product made by the revised procedure shall not be shipped prior to receipt of reapproval. 4.5 Reports: The vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the acceptance test

35、 requirements and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 3357 G, vendors compound number, form and size or part number, and quantity. 4.6 Resampling and Retesting: If any specimen used in the above t

36、ests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the product may be based on the results of testing three additional specimens for each original nonconforming specimen. Failure of any retest specimen to meet the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the product represen

37、ted. Results of all tests shall be reported. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: 5.1 Identification and Packaging: Shall be in accordance with AMS 2810. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT: A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. AMS

38、3357G SAE AMS 3357G - 7 - 7. REJECTIONS: Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES: 8.1 Marginal Indicia: The phi () symbol is used to indicate technical changes from the previous issue of this specification. 8.2

39、 The test for Youngs Modulus is not normally required, but it is intended to be used as a referee test in case of disagreement on the results of the brittleness test. 8.3 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and the Celsius temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units and

40、 the Fahrenheit temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presented only for information. 8.4 For direct U.S. Military procurement, purchase documents should specify not less than the following: Title, number, and date of this specification Form and size or p

41、art number of product desired Quantity of product desired Acceptance standards and test methods for weather resistance (See 3.2.6) and corrosion (See 3.2.7) Level A packaging, if required (See AMS 2810). 8.5 Similar Specifications: Federal ZZ-R-765 is listed for information only and shall not be construed as an acceptable alternate unless all requirements of this AMS are met. 8.6 Products meeting the requirements of this specification have been classified under Federal Supply Classification (FSC) 9320.
