SCOPE:1.1 Form: This specification covers two classes (durometers) of tetrafluoroethylene/ propylene rubber (FEPM) in the form of extrusions, sheet, strip, and molded shapes.1.2 Application: These products have been used typically for

8、components requiring continuous operation in dry air, hydraulic fluids, and synthetic engine oils at temperatures from -5 to +232 C (+23 to 450 F) or in high pH chemical decontamination solutions, but usage is not limited to such applications. Each application should be considered individually.1.3 C

30、TY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: The manufacturer of the product shall supply all samples and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the

31、product conforms to the specified requirements.4.2 Classification of Tests: 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests: Requirements shown in Table 2 are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot.4.2.2 Periodic Tests: Requirements shown in Table 3 are periodic tests and shall be performed at least every six m

32、onths unless another frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.4.2.3 Preproduction Tests: All technical requirements are preproduction tests and shall be performed prior to or on the initial shipment of the product by the manufacturer, when a change in ingredients and/or processing requires rea

35、nce Tests: Sufficient product shall be taken at random from each lot to perform all required tests. The number of determinations for each requirement shall be as specified in the applicable test procedure or, if not specified therein, not less than three, except as otherwise specified in 4.3.1.4.4.3

36、.1.1 If specimens cannot be prepared from the product, ASTM test specimens prepared from the same batch and state of cure shall be used. When the product supplied is an extrusion of such shape that suitable test specimens cannot be cut from the product, a separate flat strip test sample, from the sa

37、me production lot, shall be supplied upon request. This strip shall be prepared from tubing 1.000 inch 0.063 (25.40 mm 1.60) in OD by 0.075 inch 0.008 (1.90 mm 0.20) in wall thickness, mechanically slit and flattened into a strip while being extruded, and cured in the same manner as production produ

38、ct. When the product is a molded shape from which test specimens cannot be cut, a slab 6 inches (152 mm) square by 0.075 inch 0.008 (1.90 mm 0.20) thick, molded from the same batch of compound, shall be supplied upon request.4.3.1.2 A lot shall be all product of the same batch of compound processed

39、in one continuous run and presented for manufacturers inspection at one time.4.3.1.3 A batch shall be the quantity of compound run through a mill or mixer at one time.4.3.1.4 A statistical sampling plan acceptable to the purchaser may be used in lieu of sampling as in 4.3.1. Sample size for visual a

42、l: 4.4.1 Sample product shall be approved by purchaser before product for production use is supplied, unless such approval is waived by purchaser. Results of tests on production product shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample. Production product made by a revised procedure sh

43、all not be shipped prior to receipt of reapproval. If necessary to make any change in parameters for the process control factors, manufacturer shall submit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and, when requested, sample product.4.4.2 Manufacturer of th

44、e product shall make no significant change in material, processes, or control factors from those on which the approval was based, unless the change is approved by the cognizant engineering organization. A significant change is one which, in the judgment of the cognizant engineering organization, cou

45、ld affect the properties or performance of the product.4.4.2.1 Control factors for producing products include, but are not limited to, the following: Compound ingredients and proportions thereof within established limitsSequence of mixing compound ingredientsType of mixing equipmentMethod and equipm

46、ent for preparing preformsBasic molding procedure (compression, transfer, injection)Curing time and pressure; variations of 10% are permissibleFinishing methodsMethods of inspection.4.4.2.2 Any of the above process control factors for which parameters are considered proprietary by the manufacturer m

47、ay be assigned a code designation. Each variation in such parameters shall be assigned a modified code designation.4.5 Reports: The supplier of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report from the manufacturer showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the acceptance test req

48、uirements and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 3382C, manufacturers identification number, class, form and size or part number, and quantity.4.6 Resampling and Retesting: If any specimen used i

49、n the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the product may be based on the results of testing three additional specimens for each original nonconforming specimen. Failure of any retest specimen to meet the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the product represented.
