SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of sheet and plate from .008 to 2.000 inches, incl (0.20 to 50.80 mm, incl) in thickness, supplied in the annealed (O) condition (see 8.4)
7、. 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for formed structural parts which will be subsequently heat treated, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking aft

31、ct outside the range covered by Tables 2, 4 and 6 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer. 3.4 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.4.
32、1 When specified, each plate 0.500 to 2.000 inches (12.70 to 50.80 mm) shall be ultrasonically inspected in accordance with ASTM B594 and shall meet the requirements of ultrasonic class A. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H 35.2 or ANSI H 35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANC
33、E PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection 4.2 The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure th
34、at the product conforms to the specified requirements. Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties as annealed (3.3.1.1) (not applicable to F temper), tensile properties after solution and precipitation heat treatment to T62 temper (3.3.2.1); tolerances (3.5)
35、 and, when specified by purchaser the tensile properties after solution and precipitation heat treatment to T732 temper (3.3.3), ultrasonic quality (3.4.1) are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Bending as annealed (3.3.1.2) (not applic
36、able to F temper); bending after solution, precipitation heat treatment to T62 temper (3.3.2.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 37、pling shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition and showing the numerical results of tests on each lot to determine conformance to the tensile properties and, when perfor
38、med, to the periodic test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS4044N, size, and quantity. The report shall also identify the producer, product form, producer lot number, and mill produced size. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by T
39、ables 2, 4 and 6, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.4.2 When material produced to this specification, is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope or tables or other exceptions are taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.1.1), the report shall contain a statem
40、ent “This material is certified as AMS4044N(EXC) because of the following exceptions.” and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.1.1 When
41、 technical exceptions are taken (see 4.4.2), the material shall be marked with AMS4044N(EXC). 5.2 Protective Treatment Product shall be protected from damage during shipment and/or storage by a method determined by the producer unless specified by the purchaser. Typical examples of protective measur
42、es include but are not limited to interleaving with paper or oiling of surfaces. 5.3 Packaging Product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the sheet to ensure
43、carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall include this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will b
