6、t previously applicable to ultrasonic inspection (3.4), revised Reports (4.4.1), and is a Five Year Review and update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of sheet and plate with thickness from 0.008 to 4.000 inch, incl (0.20 to 101.6 mm, i

7、ncl), clad on two sides (see 8.4). 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for structural use, including machined parts subject to excessive warpage during machining, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these product

8、s to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may

9、work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. 17、e T6 temper (see ANSI H35.1/H35.1M). 3.2.2 Plate Solution heat treated, stretched to produce a nominal permanent set of 2%, but not less than 1-1/2%, nor more than 3%, and precipitation heat treated to the T651 temper (see ANSI H35.1/H35.1M). 3.2.2.1 Plate shall receive no further straightening oper

28、s and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the plate. 3.4.1 When specified, each plate 0.500 inch (12.70 mm) and over in nominal thickness shall be ultrasonically inspected in accordance with ASTM B594 and shall meet the requirements of Table 6 as applicable. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necess

31、ary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), and tolerances (3.5) and when specified UT inspection (3.4.1) are acceptance tests and, except for core composition, shall be performed

32、 on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Bending (3.3.2) and cladding thickness (3.3.3) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Repo

33、rts The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition requirements and tolerances and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report

34、 shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4049M, size, and quantity. The report shall include the identity of the producer and the size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1, the report shall contain a statement to that effect.

35、 SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4049M Page 6 of 6 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Product shall be protected from damage during storage and shipment by a method det

36、ermined by producer unless specified by purchaser. Examples of typical protective methods include but are not limited to interleaving with paper or oiling of the surface. 5.2.2 The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulat

37、ions pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Material

38、not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
