6、n specified to facilitate stabilization of AMS-WW-T-700/6, addresses properties outside the stated size range (3.3.1, 4.4.1), revises classification of tests (4.2), and is a Five Year Review and update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form o

7、f drawn seamless tubing in the annealed (O) condition. This specification covers products from 0.018 inches to 0,500 inches (0.46 to 12.70 mm) in wall thickness (see 8.5). 1.2 Application This tubing has been used typically for parts, such as conduits and low-pressure fluid lines, where moderate str

8、ength, ductility, and good weldability are required, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a s

33、 but are not limited to, cracks, splits, seams, inclusions, or severe cross-hatching (surface breaks) that cannot be removed by light hand-sanding using 180 grit or finer sandpaper. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISI

34、ONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of tubing shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the tubing conf

35、orms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1) tensile properties as annealed (3.3.2.1), and after solution and precipitation heat treatment to T62 temper (3.3.3.1) and when specified to T42 temper (3.3.4.1), quality (3.4), and tolerances (3.5) a

36、re acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4080P Page 6 of 7 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Flattening (3.3.2.2) and flarability (3.3.2.3) as annealed are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless

37、frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. Specimens for flarability test (3.3.2.3) shall be full tubes or sections cut from tubes. The end of the specimen to be flared shall be cut square, with the cut end smooth and free from burrs

38、, but, except for sizes 0.375 inches (9.52 mm) and under, not rounded. 4.4 Reports The producer of tubing shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the tubing conforms to the composition and showing the numerical results of tests to determine conformance to the other acceptance test req

39、uirements and when performed to the periodic tests. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4080P, size, and quantity. The report shall also include the manufacturer and size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by Table

40、 2 or Table 6, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Protective Treatment Product shall be protected from d

41、amage during storage and shipment by a method determined by producer unless specified by purchaser. Examples of typical protective methods include but are not limited to interleaving with paper or oiling of the surface. Product produced under this specification shall not be oiled. 5.2.2 Tubing shall

42、 be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the tubing to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention this specification number

43、and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Tubing not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4080P Page 7 of 7 8. 46、uch that the cut edge is inside the flare near the ID of the tube. Definition and illustration of single flaring is shown in MS 33584; double flaring is defined and illustrated in MS 33583. 8.3 Hardness should not be lower than 85 HRE, determined in accordance with ASTM E18. Hardness has been used t

47、o verify that tubing is properly processed, but an out-of-specification hardness number is not always indicative of product with out of specification tensile strength. Further analysis including material composition verification, heat treat process parameter review, and/or tensile property measureme

48、nt on product with out-of-range hardness may be necessary. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and the Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units and the Celsius temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presented
