15、2 Forging Stock: As ordered by the forging manufacturer.3.3 Properties:The product shall conform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with AMS 2355 or MAM 2355:3.3.1 Forgings: In the temper condition supplied.3.3.1.1 Conductivity within any one forging shall not vary more than 3%

31、ss at time of heat treatment shall determine the minimum mechanical properties provided the original as-forged thickness does not exceed the maximum thickness of 5 inches (127 mm) in Table 3 and Table 4. When the maximum thickness is over 5 to 8 inches (127 to 203 mm), the applicable thickness to es

32、tablish properties shall be not less than one-half the original forged thickness.3.3.2.2 Hardness: Forgings should have hardness not lower than shown in Table 5 but forgings shall not be rejected on the basis of hardness if the tensile property requirements of 3.3.2.1.1 or 3.3.2.1.2 are met.3.3.2.3

33、Exfoliation-Corrosion Resistance: Specimens cut from forgings shall show a level of exfoliation-corrosion less than that pictured in ASTM G 34, Photograph B, Figure 2, at any plane.3.3.2.4 Corrosion Resistance: Shall be as follows:3.3.2.4.1 Electrical Conductivity: Shall be as follows, determined on

34、 the surface of the sample:3.3.2.4.1.1 If the conductivity is 40.0% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) (23.2 MS/m) or higher and longitudinal tensile properties meet specified requirements, the forgings are acceptable.3.3.2.4.1.2 If the conductivity is 38.0 to 39.9% IACS (22.0 to 23.1 MS/

35、m), if the longitudinal tensile properties meet specified requirements, and if the longitudinal yield strength does not exceed the specified minimum value by more than 9.9 ksi (68 MPa), the forgings are acceptable.3.3.2.4.1.3 If the conductivity is between 38.0 to 39.9% IACS (22.0 to 23.1 MS/m) and

36、longitudinal yield strength exceeds the specified minimum value by more than 9.9 ksi (68 MPa), the forgings shall be given additional precipitation heat treatment and be retested. If, after such treatment, the forgings meet the requirements of 3.3.2.4.1.1 and 3.3.2.4.1.2, the forgings are acceptable

37、3.3.2.4.2 Alternate Immersion Test: Specimens from forgings 0.750 inch (19.05 mm) and over in least dimension shall show no evidence of stress-corrosion cracking when stressed in the short-transverse direction to 75% of the minimum yield strength specified for the principal test direction.TABLE 5 -

40、 treated in the same manner as the forging, specimens taken from the heat treated coupon shall conform to the requirements of 3.3.2.1. If specimens taken from the stock after heat treatment in the same manner as forgings conform to the requirements of 3.3.2.1, the tests shall be accepted as equivale

41、nt to tests of a forged coupon.3.4 Quality:The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product.3.4.1 Grain flow of die forgings, except in areas which contain flash-line en

42、d grain, shall follow the general contour of the forgings showing no evidence of re-entrant grain flow.3.4.2 All hand forgings and, when specified, each die forging shall be subjected to ultrasonic inspection (See 8.2) in accordance with ASTM B 594 or other method specified by purchaser and shall me

43、et the following acceptance standards:3.4.2.1 Hand forgings 1 to 5 inches (25 to 127 mm) in nominal section thickness and weighing not more than 600 pounds (272 kg) shall meet Class A of ASTM B 594.3.4.2.2 Die forgings 0.500 to 4 inches (12.70 to 102 mm), inclusive, in nominal section thickness and

44、weighing not over 300 pounds (136 kg) shall meet Class B of ASTM B 594.3.4.2.3 Acceptance standards for forgings exceeding the dimensional or weight limits of 3.4.2.1 or 3.4.2.2 shall be as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.3.5 Tolerances:Forging stock shall conform to all applicable requirements

45、of AMS 2201 or MAM 2201.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: The vendor of forgings shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for performing all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing dee

46、med necessary to ensure that the forgings conform to the requirements of this specification.4.2 Classification of Tests: 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests: Tests for composition (3.1), electrical conductivity (3.3.2.4.1), tensile properties (3.3.2.1), tolerances of forging stock (3.5) and, when specified, ultr

48、3.3.2.2), resistance to stress corrosion alternate immersion test (3.3.2.4.2), and grain flow of die forgings (3.4.1) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.4.3 Sampling and Testing: Shall be in accordance

49、 with AMS 2355 or MAM 2355 and the following:4.3.1 Prolongations, which shall remain attached to the -01 forgings that they represent or remnants of the forging from the forgers capability testing, shall be identified for traceability to their production lot. These prolongations or remnants shall accompany the lot of forging
