SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded rods, bars, and profiles (shapes) 0.040 t
6、o 1.500 inches (1.02 to 38.10 mm), inclusive, in thickness, and produced with maximum cross sectional area of 23.25 in2 (15000 mm2) and a maximum circumscribing circle diameter (circle size) of 15.5 inches (394 mm) (see 8.4.1). 1.2 Application These extrusions have been used typically for structural
7、 aerospace applications requiring low density and high strength and stiffness combined with good corrosion resistance, but are not limited to these applications. 1.2.1 Certain processing procedures may cause this product to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices
8、 to minimize such conditions. 2. 17、ess relieved by stretching to produce a nominal permanent set of 2% to 5% (target of 3%) and then artificially aged to the T84 temper (see ANSI H35.1/H35.1M). Solution and precipitation heat treatment shall be performed in accordance with AMS2772 as applicable to 2xxx alloys. The actual practices ar
18、e considered proprietary. 3.2.1 Products shall be supplied with an as-extruded surface finish; light polishing to remove minor surface conditions is permissible provided such conditions can be removed within specified dimensional tolerances. 3.2.2 Product may receive minor straightening, after stret
19、ching, of an amount necessary to meet the requirements of 3.5. 3.3 Properties Product shall conform to the following requirements, determined on the mill produced size in accordance with AMS2355. 3.3.1 Mechanical property requirements for products outside the range covered by 1.1 and Table 2 shall b

27、hen specimens are exposed for 2 weeks according to the procedures specified in ASTM G85 Annex 2, using the dry-bottom MASTMAASIS Test Method (see 8.3). 3.4 Quality Products, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from condition
28、s detrimental to usage of the extrusions. 3.4.1 When specified, each extrusion shall be subjected to ultrasonic inspection in accordance with ASTM B594. Extrusions with section thicknesses 0.500 to 1.500 inches (12.7 to 38.1 mm), inclusive, shall meet ultrasonic Class B requirements, as described in
29、 ASTM B594. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4359 Page 5 of 6 4. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the products conform to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), longitudinal and long transverse (when spec
31、ified) tensile properties (3.3.2), compression yield strength (when specified) (3.3.3), ultrasonic inspection (when specified) (3.4.1), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Exfoliation corrosion resista
32、nce (3.3.4) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by the purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report sta
33、ting that the product conforms to the composition, ultrasonic inspection when specified, and tolerances and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspectio
34、n lot number, AMS4359, size or section identification number, and quantity. This report shall also identify the producer, the product form, and the size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1 and Table 2, the report shall contain a statement to that effe
35、ct. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.2 Packaging Products shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations
36、 pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT A producer shall mention this specification number in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Products not conforming to this spec

39、 Extrusions produced to this specification exhibit a thin recrystallized surface layer similar to other high strength 2xxx alloys. Limits on the thickness of the recrystallized surface layer can be guaranteed for specific profiles if requested by purchaser. 8.3 The solution used for exposure by ASTM
40、 G34, the EXCO Test, has been determined to be inappropriate for Al-Li alloy. For further information on this review refer to ASTM G112, which describes limitations on this test method for Al-Li alloys. 8.4 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917 and the following: 8.4.1 The circumscribing circle
41、 diameter is the diameter of the smallest circle which completely encloses the cross section of the as-extruded product. 8.5 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and the Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units and the Celsius temperatures are shown as the
