SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of plate from 3.000 to 8.000 inches (76.20 to 203.20 mm) in thickne

23、al precipitation heat treatment or reheat treated. After such treatment, if all specified properties are met, the plate is acceptable. 3.3.3 Exfoliation Corrosion Resistance Plate shall not exhibit exfoliation-corrosion greater than that illustrated by Photo B, Figure 2, when tested in accordance wi
24、th ASTM G34. 3.3.4 Stress Corrosion Cracking Specimens shall be tested in accordance with ASTM G47 and shall show no evidence of stress corrosion cracking when stressed in the short transverse direction to 26.0 ksi (179 MPa) for a duration of 20 days. 3.3.5 Fatigue Resistance When specified, 5.001 t
25、o 8.000 inch (127.00 to 203.20 mm), inclusive thick plate shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E466. 30、ndition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the plate. 3.4.1 When specified, each plate 3.000 to 8.000 inches (76.20 to 203.20mm) shall be ultrasonically inspected in accordance with ASTM B594 and shall meet the requirements of 3.4.1.1. 3.4.1.1 Plat
31、es shall meet the requirements for ultrasonic Class A for plate 3.000 to 8.000 inches (76.20 to 203.2mm) in nominal thickness. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of plate sh
32、all supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the plate conforms to the specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.
33、2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), electrical conductivity (3.3.2), tolerances (3.5), when specified, fatigue resistance (3.3.5), when specified, fracture toughness (3.3.6), and when specified, ultrasonic soundness (3.4.1) are acceptance tests and except for composit
34、ion, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Exfoliation corrosion resistance (3.3.3) and stress corrosion cracking (3.3.4) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and
35、Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355 and the following: 4.3.1 Tensile Testing Tensile specimens shall be taken with axis of specimens parallel to each applicable grain flow direction specified in Table 2. 4.3.2 Fatigue Resistance Testing Two specimens for fatigue testing shall be taken from e
36、ach end of the parent plate in the long transverse grain direction. These specimens are to be removed from the T/2, W/2 location. Fatigue testing shall be conducted in air at 70 F 5 F (21 C 3 C) with a relative humidity of 30 to 50% using a frequency of 10 to 50 Hz. The test specimens shall meet the
37、 following requirements: 4.3.2.1 Fatigue Specimen Design Fatigue samples shall be machined to ASTM E466, Figure 1. The specimen shall have a 0.500 inch (12.70 mm) gage diameter, a 2.00 inch (50.80 mm) gage section, and 3.0 inch (76.20 mm) fillet radius. The grip section may be varied to fit differen
38、t grip configurations, but should have no less than a 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) diameter. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4365 Page 6 of 7 4.3.2.2 Fatigue Specimen Finishing Fatigue samples shall be longitudinally sanded to produce a fine satin finish of 16 microinches Ra (0.4 m) or better. An appropriate abrasive sh
39、all be used to remove transverse machining marks, followed by progressively finer abrasive media. Light oil may be used as a lubricant. The use of an automated polishing system is highly recommended. An equivalent procedure can be used provided it can be demonstrated that it gives equivalent results
40、 to those obtained using the above method. Specimens shall be degreased and cleaned prior to testing. 4.3.3 Fracture Toughness Testing For T-L and L-T test directions on plate over 3.000 to 4.000 inches (50.80 to 101.60mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness, use specimens 2.000 inch (50.80 mm) minimum
41、 thickness centered at T/2; and for plate over 4.000 inches (101.60 mm) in nominal thickness, use specimens 2.000 inch (50.80 mm) minimum thickness centered at T/4. For the S-L test direction, the test specimen shall be centered at T/2. Required specimen orientation(s) shall be specified by purchase
42、r. 4.4 Reports The vendor of plate shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the plate conforms to the chemical composition, tensile properties, electrical conductivity, fatigue resistance (when specified), fracture toughness (when specified), ultrasonic inspection (when specified), and
43、 tolerances and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number(s), AMS4365, size, and quantity. The report shall also identify the producer, t
44、he mill product form, and the size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by Table 2, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.4.2 When material produced to this specification is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope or tables, or other exceptions
45、 are taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.1.1), the report shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS4365 (EXC) because of the following exceptions”, and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2
46、355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.1.1 When technical exceptions are taken (see 4.4.2), the material shall be marked with AMS4365 (EXC). 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Product shall be protected from damage during storage and shipment by a method
47、determined by vendor unless specified by purchaser. Examples of typical protective methods include, but are not limited to, interleaving with paper or oiling of the surfaces. 5.2.2 Plate shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulatio
48、ns pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the plate to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6.
