SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers a gold-palladium-nickel alloy in the form of wire, rod, sheet, strip, foil, pig, powder, shot, chips, preforms, and a viscous mixture (paste) of the powder in a suitable binder.1.2 ApplicationThis filler metal has been used t

7、ypically for joining corrosion and heat-resistant steels and alloys where corrosion and oxidation-resistant joints with good strength at elevated temperatures are required, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.3 ClassificationFiller metal supplied to this specification is classified as f

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS3.1 CompositionProducts shall meet the requirements of AWS A5.8 BAu-5 and the following:Table 1 - Compo

The total of these elements shall not exceed 0.05% maximum.3.2 ConditionThe product shall be supplied in the as fabricated condition.3.2.1 PasteUnless otherwise specified by the purchaser, shall consi

15、st of 84 to 90% by weight powder in a suitable binder and shall not contain flux.3.2.1.1 Paste shall have a shelf life of not less than 6 months from date of manufacture; not more than thorough mixing shall be required to restore paste for use during that time.3.2.1.2 Paste without flux shall leave

17、imental to its working qualities. Wire, rod, sheet, strip, and foil shall be clean, sound, bright, and free from slivers, splitting, ragged edges, damaged ends, and other injurious imperfections. Pig, powder, shot, and chips shall have a metallic luster.3.4 Sizes and TolerancesThe product shall be s

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of allrequ

25、ired tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements.4.2 Classification of Tests4.2.1 Acceptance TestsAll technical requirements, other than shelf life of paste (3.2.1.1), are accepta

26、nce tests and shall be performed on each lot.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4785J Page 5 of 64.2.2 Periodic TestsShelf life of paste (3.2.1.1) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.4.3 Sampling and TestingShall b

27、e in accordance with the following:4.3.1 CompositionOne sample shall be taken from each furnace charge.4.3.2 Properties Except Shelf Life of PasteOne sample from each lot.4.3.3 A lot shall be all product, other than powder or paste, which has been tested and found to conform to the composition requi

28、rements of AWS A5.8 and 3.1.1 when applicable, in the same temper and size, and presented for producers inspection at one time.4.3.4 A lot of powder shall be a uniform blend of powder produced from one or more furnace charges, each meeting the requirements of this specification, and presented for pr

29、oducers inspection at one time.4.3.5 A lot of paste shall be that paste produced from a single lot of powder, combined with binder from the same manufacturing batch, and presented for producers inspection at one time.4.4 ReportsThe producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report sh

30、owing the results of tests to determine conformance to the composition requirements and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number or numbers, AMS4785J, form, size, and quantity.4.5 Resampling and RetestingNo

31、t applicable.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 Identification5.1.1 Shall be as agreed upon by purchaser and producer.5.1.2 Each exterior container or package shall be permanently and legibly marked with not less than AMS4785J, lot number, form, manufacturers identification, nominal sizes, and weight.5.

32、1.2.1 Each container and package of paste shall also be marked with the date of manufacture.5.2 Packaging5.2.1 The product shall be suitably wrapped, sealed, and boxed or otherwise packaged for protection against injury and contamination during shipment and under normal dry storage conditions.5.2.2

33、Packages of filler metal shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the filler metal to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS478
