6、Application This material has been used typically for driver sheet used as a consumable manufacturing aid in superplastic forming of titanium alloy sheet or plate components at 1600 to 1700 F (871 to 927 C), but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the foll

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1; carbon shall be determine

12、d in accordance with ASTM E 1941, hydrogen in accordance with ASTM E 1447, oxygen and nitrogen in accordance with ASTM E 1409, and other elements in accordance with ASTM E 539 or ASTM E 2371. 14、gen determination may be as large as 0.35 gram. 3.1.3 Check Analysis Composition variations shall meet the applicable requirements of AMS2249. 3.2 Melting Practice Alloy shall be multiple melted. Melting cycle(s) prior to the final melting cycle shall be made using vacuum consumable electrode, nonco

15、nsumable electrode, electron beam cold hearth, or plasma arc cold heath melting practice(s). The final melting cycle shall be made under vacuum using vacuum arc remelting (VAR) practice with no alloy additions permitted. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4932C Page 2 of 6_ 3.2.1 The atmosphere for nonconsumable

16、electrode melting shall be vacuum or shall be inert gas at a pressure not higher than 1000 mm of mercury. 3.2.2 The electrode tip for nonconsumable electrode melting shall be water-cooled copper. 3.3 Condition Hot rolled, flattened, descaled, and, if required, pickled. Sheet may be supplied annealed

17、 or as-rolled, at vendors option. 3.4 Properties Shall conform to the following requirements: 3.4.1 Tensile Properties Shall be as shown in Table 2, determined in accordance with ASTM E 8 / E 8M with the rate of strain set at 0.005 inch/inch/minute (0.005 mm/mm/minute) and maintained within a tolera

18、nce of 0.002 inch/inch/minute (0.002 mm/mm/minute) through the 0.2% offset yield strain. 19、rmined in the transverse direction. 3.4.1.2 Sheet shall not be rejected on the basis of tensile properties if all other technical requirements are met. 3.4.2 Microstructure Shall be the structure resulting from processing within the alpha-beta phase field. Microstructure shall conform to 3.4.2.1 or

20、3.4.2.2. 3.4.2.1 Equiaxed and/or elongated primary alpha in a transformed beta matrix with no continuous network of alpha at prior beta grain boundaries. 3.4.2.2 Essentially complete field of equiaxed and/or elongated alpha with or without intergranular beta and no continuous network of alpha at pri

21、or grain boundaries. 3.4.3 Surface Contamination Sheet shall be free of any oxygen-rich layer (See 8.2), such as alpha case, or other surface contamination, determined by microscopic examination at 400X or other method acceptable to purchaser. 3.5 Quality Sheet, as received by purchaser, shall be un

22、iform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4932C Page 3 of 6_ 3.6 Tolerances Shall conform to the following: 3.6.1 Length and Width -0, +1/4 inch (-0, +6.4 mm). 3.6.2 Thickness -0, +0.013 inc

23、h (-0, +0.33 mm). 3.6.3 Flatness Shall not deviate more than 3% for sheet 36 inches (914 mm) and under in width, and not more than 5% for sheet over 36 inches (914 mm) in width. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of sheet shall supply all samples for vendors

24、 tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the sheet conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1)

25、 surface contamination (3.4.3), and tolerances (3.6) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Tensile properties (3.4.1) and microstructure (3.4.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequ

26、ency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with the following; a lot shall be all sheet from the same heat processed at the same time; a heat shall be the vacuum arc remelted ingots produced from alloy originally melted as a single furnace charge. 4.3.

27、1 For Acceptance Tests 4.3.1.1 Composition One sample from each heat, except that for hydrogen one sample from each lot obtained after thermal and chemical processing is completed. 4.3.1.2 Surface Contamination and Tolerances One sample from each lot. 28、r Periodic Tests One sample. 4.4 Reports The vendor shall provide a copy of the original material manufacturers report (material certification), including: producer name, product form, mill produced size, and country where the metal was melted (i.e., final melt in the case of metal processed by mult

29、iple melting operations). The vendor of sheet shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests for composition of each heat and for hydrogen content, tensile properties when determined, and surface contamination of each lot, and stating that the sheet conforms to the other tech

30、nical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS4932C, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting If any specimen used in the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the sheet may be based on the results of testing

31、three additional specimens for each original nonconforming specimen. Failure of any retest specimen to meet the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the sheet represented. Results of all tests shall be reported. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Each sheet shall be mar

32、ked on one face in lengthwise rows of characters recurring at intervals not greater than 3 feet (914 mm), the rows being spaced not more than 6 inches (152 mm) apart and alternately staggered, with DRIVER SHEET, AMS4932C, heat number, lot number, manufacturers identification, and nominal thickness.

33、The characters shall be of such size as to be legible, shall be applied using a suitable marking fluid whose residue shall contain no more than traces of halogen-bearing compounds, and shall be removable in hot alkaline cleaning solution without rubbing. The markings shall have no deleterious effect

34、 on the sheet or its performance and shall be sufficiently stable to withstand normal handling. 5.2 Packaging Sheet shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation

35、of the sheet to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall include this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Sheet not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized b
