6、sition similar to UNS N07001) RATIONALE AMS5707N results from a limited scope ballot to revise Classification of Tests (4.2), Reports (4.4), and Identification (5.2.4). 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant nickel alloy in the form of bars, forgings, flash welded

7、 rings, 3.25 inches (82.6 mm) and under and stock of any size for forging and for flash welded rings. (see 8.5). 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for parts, such as cases, requiring high strength up to 1500 F (816 C) and oxidation resistance up to 1750 F (954 C), but usage is

8、not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue

9、is specified. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the perc

15、entages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in accordance with ASTM E354, by spectrochemical methods, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 17、 3.1.1 Check Analysis Composition variations shall meet the applicable requirements of AMS2269. 3.2 Melting Practice Alloy shall be multiple melted using consumable electrode practice in the remelt cycle or shall be multiple vacuum melted. If consumable electrode remelting is not performed in vacuum

18、, electrodes which have been produced by vacuum induction melting shall be used for remelting. 3.3 Condition The product shall be supplied in the following condition: 3.3.1 Bars Hot finished, solution, stabilization, and precipitation heat treated, and descaled. Round bars shall be ground or turned.

19、 3.3.1.1 Bars shall not be cut from plate (also see 4.4.2). 3.3.2 Forgings and Flash Welded Rings Solution, stabilization, and precipitation heat treated. 3.3.2.1 Flash welded rings shall not be supplied unless specified or permitted on purchasers part drawing. When supplied, rings shall be manufact

20、ured in accordance with AMS7490. 3.3.3 Stock for Forging or Flash Welded Rings As ordered by the forging or flash welded ring manufacturer. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5707N Page 4 of 8 3.4 Heat Treatment Bars, forgings, and flash welded rings shall be heat treated as follows; pyrometry shall be in accorda

21、nce with AMS2750: 3.4.1 Solution Heat Treatment Heat to a temperature within the range 1825 to 1900 F (996 to 1038 C), hold at the selected temperature within 25 F (14 C) for 4 hours 0.5, and cool at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster. 3.4.2 Stabilization Heat Treatment Heat to 1550 F 15 F (

22、843 C 8 C), hold at heat for 4 hours 0.5 hours, and cool in air. 3.4.3 Precipitation Heat Treatment Heat to 1400 F 15 (760 C 8C ), hold at heF at for 16 hours 1 hour, and cool in air. 3.5 Properties The product shall conform to the following requirements: 3.5.1 Bars, Forgings, and Flash Welded Rings

23、 3.5.1.1 Tensile Properties Product 3.25 inches (82.6 mm) and under in nominal cross-sectional dimension shall have the properties shown in Table 2, determined in accordance with ASTM E8/E8M. 25、in length can be obtained. Specific orientation and location of specimens from forgings and flash welded rings shall be as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. Longitudinal tensile properties need not be determined on product tested in the transverse direction. 3.5.1.1.2 Mechanical property requirem

26、ents for product outside of the range covered by 1.1 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer. 3.5.1.2 Hardness Shall be 321 to 437 HB, or equivalent (see 8.2), determined in accordance with ASTM E10. 3.5.1.3 Stress-Rupture Properties Shall be as follows; testing of notched specimens and

27、of combination smooth-and-notched specimens shall be performed in accordance with ASTM E292 and of smooth specimens in accordance with ASTM E139: SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5707N Page 5 of 8 3.5.1.3.1 At 1350 F (732 C) A standard cylindrical combination smooth-and-notched specimen conforming to ASTM E292,

28、 maintained at 1350 F 3 F (732 C 2C ) while a load sufficient to produce an initial axial stress of 75.0 ksi (517 MPa) or higher is applied continuously, shall not rupture in less than 23 hours. The test shall be continued to rupture without change of load. Rupture shall occur in the smooth section.

29、 Elongation of the smooth section after rupture, measured at room temperature, shall be not less than 8% in 4D. 3.5.1.3.1.1 As an alternate procedure, separate smooth and notched specimens, machined from adjacent sections of the same piece, with gage sections conforming to the respective dimensions

30、shown in ASTM E292, may be tested individually under the conditions of 3.5.1.3.1. The smooth specimen shall not rupture in less than 23 hours and elongation after rupture, measured at room temperature, shall be not less than 8% in 4D. The notched specimen shall not rupture in less time than the comp

31、anion smooth specimen but need not be tested to rupture. 3.5.1.3.1.2 The tests of 3.5.1.3.1 and 3.5.1.3.1.1 may be conducted using incremental loading. In such case, the load required to produce an initial axial stress of 75.0 ksi (517 MPa) or higher shall be used to rupture or for 23 hours whicheve

32、r occurs first. After the 23 hours and at intervals of 8 hours minimum, thereafter, the stress shall be increased in increments of 5.0 ksi (34.5 MPa). Time to rupture, rupture location, and elongation requirements shall be as specified in 3.5.1.3.1. 3.5.1.3.2 At 1500 F (816 C) A tensile specimen, ma

33、intained at 1500 F 3 F (816 C 2C ) while a load sufficient to produce an initial axial stress of 40.0 ksi (276 MPa) or higher is applied continuously, shall not rupture in less than 23 hours. The test shall be continued to rupture without change of load. Elongation after rupture, measured at room te

34、mperature, shall be not less than 5% in 4D. 3.5.1.3.2.1 The test of 3.5.1.3.2 may be conducted using incremental loading. In such case, the load required to produce an initial axial stress of 40.0 ksi (276 MPa) or higher shall be used to rupture or for 23 hours, whichever occurs first. After the 23

35、hours and at intervals of 8 hours minimum, thereafter, the stress shall be increased in increments of 5.0 ksi (34.5 MPa). Time to rupture and elongation requirements shall be as specified in 3.5.1.3.2. 3.5.1.4 Average Grain Size Shall be ASTM No. 3 or finer, determined in accordance with ASTM E112.

36、3.5.2 Forging Stock When a sample of stock is forged to a test coupon and heat treated as in 3.4, specimens taken from the heat treated coupon shall conform to the requirements of 3.5.1.1, 3.5.1.2, and 3.5.1.3. If specimens taken from the stock after heat treatment as in 3.4 conform to the requireme

37、nts of 3.5.1.1, 3.5.1.2, and 3.5.1.3, the test shall be accepted as equivalent to tests of a forged coupon. 3.5.3 Stock for Flash Welded Rings Specimens taken from the stock after heat treatment as in 3.4 shall conform to the requirements of 3.5.1.1, 3.5.1.2, and 3.5.1.3. 3.6 Quality The product, as

38、 received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.6.1 Grain flow of die forgings, except in areas which contain flash-line end grain, shall follow the general contour of the forgings

39、 showing no evidence of reentrant grain flow. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5707N Page 6 of 8 3.7 Tolerances Bars shall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2261. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and

40、 shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conform to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests The following are acceptan

41、ce tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable: 4.2.1.1 Composition (3.1) of each heat. 4.2.1.2 Tensile properties (3.5.1.1), hardness (3.5.1.2), average grain size (3.5.1.4), and stress-rupture properties at 1350 F (732 C) (3.5.1.3.1) of each lot of bars, forgings, and flash weld

42、ed rings. 4.2.1.3 Tolerances (3.7) of bars. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Stress-rupture properties of bars, forgings, and flash welded rings at 1500 F (816 C) (3.5.1.3.2), the ability of forging stock (3.5.2) and of stock for flash welded rings (3.5.3) to develop required properties, and grain flow of die f

43、orgings (3.6.1) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be as follows: 4.3.1 Bars, Flash Welded Rings, and Stock for Forging or Flash Welded Rings In accordance with AMS2371,

44、 with stress rupture specimens oriented as specified for tensile specimens. 4.3.2 Forgings In accordance with AMS2374, with stress rupture specimens oriented as specified for tensile specimens. 4.4 Reports The vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of ven

45、dors name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting) and the tests for composition of each heat and and for average grain size, tensile and stress-rupture properties, and hardness of each lot and stating that the product conforms to t

46、he other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5707N, size, product form and quantity. If forgings are supplied, the size and melt source of stock used to make the forgings shall also be included. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5707N Page 7 of 8

47、4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.4.2 If the ship size/shape is cut from a larger cross section, report the nominal metallurgically worked size (Also see 3.3.1.1). 4.4.3 The vendor of stock for forging and flash we

48、lded rings shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the vendors name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting) and the results of tests for composition of each heat. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat

49、and lot numbers, AMS5707N, size, and quantity. 4.4.4 When material produced to this specification is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope or tables, or other exceptions are taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.2.4), the report shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS5707(EXC) because of the following exceptions.” and
