SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a heat-resistant iron-nickel alloy in the form of bars, wire, forgings, flash welded rings 8.0 inches (203 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides, and stock of any size for forging or flash welded
7、rings (see 8.5). 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for low-stressed parts requiring oxidation resistance up to 2100 F (1149 C), particularly where such parts may require welding during fabrication, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods i
15、n accordance with ASTM E353, by spectrochemical methods, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 17、gs Solution heat treated. 3.2.1.1 Bars and wire may be hot or cold finished. 3.2.1.2 Bars shall not be cut from plate (also see 4.4.2). 3.2.1.3 Flash welded rings shall not be supplied unless specified or permitted on purchasers part drawing. When supplied, rings shall be manufactured in accordance
18、with AMS7490. 3.2.2 Stock for Forging or Flash Welded Rings As ordered by the forging or flash welded ring manufacturer. 3.3 Heat Treatment No specific heat treating instructions are specified, but bars, wire, forgings, and flash welded rings shall be solution heat treated to produce the properties
19、specified in 3.4.1 and 3.4.2. Recommended solution heat treatment is presented in 3.3.1. 3.3.1 Heat to a temperature not lower than 1900 F (1038 C), hold at heat for a time commensurate with section thickness and with heating equipment and procedures used, and cool at a rate equivalent to a rapid ai
20、r cool or faster. 3.4 Properties 3.4.1 Bars, Wire, Forgings and Flash Welded Rings Bars, wire, forgings, and flash welded rings, 8.0 inches (203 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides, shall conform to the following requirements. 3.4.1.1 Mechanical property requir
21、ements for product outside of the range covered by 1.1 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer (see 8.5) 3.4.2 Stock for Forging, Extruding or Flash Welded Rings Shall have properties as agreed upon by purchaser and producer. 3.4.3 Tensile Properties Shall be as shown in Table 2, determi
22、ned in accordance with ASTM E8/E8M. 23、2), determined in accordance with ASTM E18. Product shall not be rejected on the basis of hardness if the tensile properties of 3.4.1 are acceptable, determined on specimens taken from the same sample as that with nonconforming hardness or from another sample with similar nonconforming hardness. 3.5
24、 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.5.1 Grain flow of die forgings, except in areas which contain flash-line end grain, shall follow the general
25、 contour of the forgings showing no evidence of reentrant grain flow. 3.6 Tolerances Bars and wire shall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2241. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and s
26、hall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile
27、properties (3.4.1), hardness (3.4.2), quality (3.5) and tolerances (3.6) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Grain flow of die forgings (3.5.1) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless fre
28、quency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing 4.3.1 Bars, Wire, Flash Welded Rings, and Stock for Forging or Flash Welded Rings In accordance with AMS2371. 4.3.2 Forgings In accordance with AMS2374. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS5716K, specific heat treating cycles used to obtain reported properties, product form, size, and quantity. If forgings are supplied, the
31、size and melt source of stock used to make the forgings shall also be included. 4.4.2 Report the nominal metallurgically worked cross sectional size and the cut size, if different (also see 3.2.1.2). 4.4.3 The producer of stock for forgings or flash welded rings shall furnish with each shipment a re

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Sizes Except when exact lengths or multiples of exact lengths are ordered, straight bar
34、s and wire will be acceptable in mill lengths of 6 to 20 feet (1.8 to 6.1 m), but not more than 10% of any shipment shall be supplied in lengths shorter than 10 feet (3 m). 5.2 Identification 5.2.1 Bars and Wire In accordance with AMS2806. 5.2.2 Forgings In accordance with AMS2808. 5.3 Packaging The
35、 product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention t
36、his specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7.
