33、 alloy depends upon combinations of cold working and aging to attain a variety of combinations of strength and ductility. Mill capabilities at the present time are limited to cold drawing bars 1-3/4 inches (44.4 mm) and under in nominal diameter to attain the full properties specified in Table 2. Ho

34、wever, production studies continue toward increasing this maximum bar size limitation. Further, it is to be appreciated different property requirements for larger bar sizes can be negotiated between purchaser and producer. 8.3 Hardness conversion tables for metals are presented in ASTM E 140. Use of

35、 the nickel and nickel alloy table is recommended. 8.4 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.5 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and the Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units and the Celsius temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalent

36、s of the primary units and are presented only for information. 8.6 Purchase documents should specify not less than the following: AMS5845J Size of bars desired Property and acceptance requirements from the cognizant engineering organization applicable to sizaes outside the range listed in 1.1. Quantity of bars desired. PREPARED BY AMS COMMITTEE “F”
