SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers an aircraft-quality,

6、 low-alloy steel in the form of seamless tubing.1.2 ApplicationThis tubing has been used typically for thin wall-thickness sections where minimum tensile strength up to 160 ksi (1103 MPa) is required and where parts may be welded during fabrication, but usage is not limited to such applications.2. 24、accordance with ASTM E 384. The microhardness method shall be conducted on a hardened but untempered specimen protected during heat treatment to prevent changes in surface carbon content. Depth of decarburization, when measured by a microhardness method, is defined as the perpendicular distance from

25、 the surface to the depth under that surface where there is no further increase in hardness. Such measurements shall be far enough away from any adjacent surface to be uninfluenced by any decarburization on the adjacent surface. In case of dispute, the depth of decarburization determined using the m

26、icrohardness traverse method shall govern.3.3.3.4.1 When determining the depth of decarburization, it is permissible to disregard local areas provided the decarburization of such areas does not exceed the above limits by more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) and the width is 0.065 inch (1.62 mm) or less.3.

27、4 QualityTubing, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition and shall have a finish conforming to the best practice for high quality aircraft tubing. It shall be smooth and free from scale or oxide, burrs, seams, tears, grooves, laminations, slivers, pits, and other imperfec

28、tions detrimental to usage of the tubing. Surface imperfections such as handling marks, straightening marks, light mandrel and die marks, shallow pits, and scale pattern will not be considered injurious if the imperfections are removable within the tolerances specified for wall thickness, but remova

29、l of such imperfections is not required.3.4.1 Steel shall be aircraft quality conforming to AMS2301.3.4.2 When specified, the tubing, either with or without machining of the surface, shall be subjected to magnetic particle inspection in accordance with ASTM E 1444. Standards for acceptance shall be

30、as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.3.5 TolerancesShall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2253.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe vendor of tubing shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required te

31、sts. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the tubing conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of TestsAll technical requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable.SAE I

32、NTERNATIONAL AMS6365K Page 5 of 64.3 Sampling and TestingShall be in accordance with AMS2370.4.4 ReportsThe producer shall furnish, with each shipment, a report showing the producer identity and country where the metal was melted (i.e., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting o

33、perations), results of tests for chemical composition and frequency-severity cleanliness rating of each heat, and for average grain size and tensile properties of each lot, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number,

34、 heat and lot numbers, AMS6365K, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and RetestingShall be in accordance with AMS2370.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 SizesExcept when exact lengths or multiples of exact lengths are ordered, straight tubing will be acceptable in mill lengths of 6 to 20 feet (1.8 to 6.1

35、 m) but not more than 10% of any shipment shall be supplied in lengths shorter than 10 feet (3 m).5.2 IdentificationShall be in accordance with AMS2807.5.3 Protective TreatmentTubing shall be protected from corrosion prior to shipment.5.4 PackagingTubing shall be prepared for shipment in accordance

36、with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the tubing to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENTA vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quo

37、tations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONSTubing not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.8.
