SC

6、OPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of sheet, strip, and plate. 1.2 Application This material has been used typically for parts requiring strength up to 1000 F (538 C), but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issu

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the following percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined by wet chemical

13、methods in accordance with ASTM E350, by spectrochemical methods, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 14、20 0.30 Nickel - 0.25 Copper - 0.35 3.1.1 Check Analysis Composition variations shall meet the applicable requirements of AMS2259. 3.2 Condition The product shall be supplied in the following condition; hardness shall be determined in accordance with ASTM A370: 3.2.1 Sheet and Strip Cold finished, b

15、right or atmosphere annealed, sub-critically annealed or normalized, and descaled if necessary, having hardness not higher than 98 HRB, or equivalent (see 8.2). 3.2.2 Plate Hot rolled, annealed, sub-critically annealed or normalized, if necessary, and descaled, having hardness not higher than 24 HRC

16、, or equivalent (see 8.2). 3.2.2.1 If allowed by the purchaser, cold rolled, annealed, sub-critically annealed or normalized if necessary and descaled as necessary, having hardness not higher than 24 HRC, or equivalent (see 8.2). 17、l conform to the following requirements; hardness, tensile, and bend testing shall be performed in accordance with ASTM A370 except as specified in 3.3.5.1.2: 3.3.1 Macrostructure Visual examination of transverse full cross sections from finished slab or billet or suitable rerolled product, etched i

18、n hot hydrochloric acid in accordance with ASTM E381, shall show no pipes or cracks. Porosity, segregation, inclusions, and other imperfections shall be no worse than the macrographs of ASTM E381 shown in Table 2. 20、. 3.3.2 Average Grain Size Shall be ASTM No. 5 or finer, determined in accordance with ASTM E112 (see 8.5). 3.3.3 Decarburization Decarburization shall be evaluated by one of the methods of 3.3.3.1 or 3.3.3.2. 3.3.3.1 Metallographic Method A cross section taken perpendicular to the surface shall be

21、prepared, etched, and visually examined metallographically at a magnification not to exceed 100X. The product shall not show a layer of complete (ferrite) or partial decarburization exceeding the limits of Table 3. 3.3.3.2 Hardness Traverse Method The total depth of decarburization shall be determin

22、ed by a traverse method using microhardness testing in accordance with ASTM E384, at a magnification not exceeding 100X, conducted on a hardened but untempered specimen protected during heat treatment to prevent changes in surface carbon content. Tempering is generally not recommended, but if temper

23、ed, the tempering temperature shall be not higher than 300 F (149 C). Depth of decarburization is defined as the perpendicular distance from the surface to the depth under that surface where there is not further increase in hardness. Such measurements shall be far enough away from any adjacent surfa

24、ce to be uninfluenced by any decarburization on the adjacent surface. Acceptance shall be as listed in Table 3. 26、carburization, it is permissible to disregard local areas provided the decarburization of such areas does not exceed the limits of Table 3 by more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) and the width is 0.065 inch (1.65 mm) or less. 3.3.3.4 In the case of dispute, the total depth of decarburization determined us

27、ing the microhardness traverse method shall govern. 3.3.4 Bending Product 0.749 inch (19.02 mm) and under in nominal thickness shall withstand, without evidence of cracking when examined at 20X magnification, bending at room temperature through the angle shown in Table 4 around a diameter equal to t

28、hree times the nominal thickness of the product, with axis of bend parallel to the direction of rolling. 29、fter Normalizing and Tempering The product shall have the following properties after being normalized by heating to 1750 F 15 F (954 C 8 C), holding at heat for not less than 6 minutes per 0.10 inch (2.5 mm) of nominal thickness, and cooling at a rate equivalent to air cooling, and tempered by heati

30、ng to 1100 F 10 F (593 C 6 C), holding at heat for not less than 6 hours, and cooling in air: 3.3.5.1 Tensile Properties Shall be in accordance with 3.3.5.1.1 and 3.3.5.1.2. 3.3.5.1.1 At Room Temperature Shall be as shown in Table 5. 33、45 to 0.062 inch per inch per minute (0.045 to 0.062 mm/mm per minute) up to the yield strength and 0.1 to 0.2 inch per inch per minute (0.1 to 0.2 mm/mm per minute) thereafter. 35、 (see 8.2), but the product shall not be rejected on the basis of hardness if the tensile property requirements of 3.3.5.1.1 are acceptable, determined on specimens taken from the same sample as that with nonconforming hardness or from another sample with similar nonconforming hardness. 3.4 Quality

36、The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.4.1 Steel shall be aircraft quality conforming to AMS2301. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirement

37、s of AMS2252. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing

38、deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), condition (3.2), decarburization (3.3.3), bending (3.3.4), tensile properties and hardness at room temperature after heat treatment (3.3.5.1.1 and 3.3

39、.5.2), frequency-severity cleanliness rating (3.4.1), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Macrostructure (3.3.1) average grain size (3.3.2), and tensile properties at 1000 F (538 C) after heat treatment (3.3.5.1.2)

40、are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. The frequency of testing for average grain size shall not exceed one year. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS6385K Page 6 of 7 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance w

41、ith AMS2370 and the following: 4.3.1 Samples for macrostructure rating (3.3.1) shall be full cross-sectional specimens obtained from the finished slab or billet or suitable rerolled product representing the top and bottom of at least the first, middle, and last usable ingot of each heat. 4.4 Reports

42、 The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the producer identity, country where the steel was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of steel processed by multiple melting operations), results of tests for composition, macrostructure, frequency-severity cleanliness

43、rating of each heat and for condition and bending of each lot, and for room temperature tensile properties of each lot after heat treatment and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS6385K,

44、product form, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2370. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with AMS2807. 5.2 Protective Treatment The product shall be protected from corrosion prior to shipment. 5.3 Packaging The product

45、shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall include this speci

46、fication number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
