6、ation and reporting. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of sheet, strip, and plate. 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for heat treated parts that may be welded during fabrication, requiring through-hardening to high stre

7、ngth levels and that may be used at operational stress levels approaching the yield strength, but usage is not limited to such applications. Steel may be notch sensitive when heat treated above 200 ksi (1379 MPa) yield strength; consequently, caution should be exercised in this respect. 2. APPLICABL

8、E DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referenced document has

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in

14、Table 1, determined by wet chemical methods in accordance with ASTM E350, by spectrochemical methods, or by other analytical methods acceptable to purchaser. 16、 SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS6433G Page 3 of 6 3.2.1 Sheet and Strip Cold finished, bright or atmosphere annealed, and descaled if necessary; or hot rolled, annealed if necessary, and descaled; having hardness not higher than 30 HRC, or equivalent (See 8.2). 3.2.2 Plate Normalized and tempered in accordanc

17、e with AMS-H-6875 to a hardness not higher than 269 HB or equivalent (See 8.2). Pyrometry shall be in accordance with AMS2750. 3.2.3 When spheroidize anneal is specified, hardness shall be not higher than 100 HRB, or equivalent (See 8.2). 3.3 Properties The product shall conform to the following req

18、uirements; hardness and tensile testing shall be performed in accordance with ASTM A370: 3.3.1 Hardenability Shall be J1/16 inch (1.6 mm) = 58 HRC maximum and J15/16 inch (23.8 mm) = 47 HRC minimum, determined in accordance with ASTM A255, except that the steel shall be normalized at 1700 F 10 (927

19、C 6) and the test specimen austenitized at 1625 F 10 (885 C 6). 3.3.2 Average Grain Size Shall be ASTM No. 5 or finer, determined in accordance with ASTM E112. 3.3.3 Micro-Inclusion Rating At least one specimen from each ingot tested as well as 2/3 of the total number of specimens and the average of

21、 Decarburization Decarburization shall be evaluated by one of the two methods of 3.3.4.1 or 3.3.4.2. 3.3.4.1 Metallographic Method A cross section taken perpendicular to the surface shall be prepared, etched, and visually examined metallographically at a magnification not to exceed 100X. Optical ind

22、ications of decarburization (including complete decarburization ferrite plus partial decarburization shall not exceed the limits of Table 3. 3.3.4.2 Hardness Traverse Method The total depth of decarburization shall be determined by a traverse method using microhardness testing in accordance with AST

23、M E384, at a magnification not exceeding 100X, conducted on a hardened but untempered specimen protected during heat treatment to prevent changes in surface carbon content. Depth of decarburization is defined as the perpendicular distance from the surface to the depth under that surface where there

24、is not further increase in hardness. Such measurements shall be far enough away from any adjacent surface to be uninfluenced by any decarburization on the adjacent surface. 25、ization, it is permissible to disregard local areas provided the decarburization of such areas does not exceed the limits in Table 3 by more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) and the width is 0.065 inches (1.65 mm) or less. 3.3.4.4 In case of dispute, the total depth of decarburization determined using the

26、microhardness traverse method shall govern. 31、ty and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.4.1 Steel shall be aircraft quality conforming to AMS2301. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of AMS2252. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility

32、 for Inspection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specifie

33、d requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), condition (3.2), hardenability (3.3.1), micro-inclusion rating (3.3.3), decarburization (3.3.4), frequency-severity cleanliness rating (3.4.1), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on ea

34、ch heat or lot as applicable. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Average grain size (3.3.2) (See 8.5) and response to heat treatment (3.3.5) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling Shall be in accordance

35、with AMS2370. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the producer identity and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting operations) and the results of tests for composition, hardenabilit

36、y, micro-inclusion rating, and frequency-severity cleanliness rating for each heat and for condition and, if measured, average grain size, and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS6433G, p

37、roduct form, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2370. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with AMS2807. 5.2 Protective Treatment The product shall be protected from corrosion prior to shipment. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS6433G

38、Page 6 of 6 5.3 Packaging The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. 39、NT A producer shall include this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES 8.1 A change bar (l)

43、g the appropriate test procedures per ASTM E112 will always satisfy an ASTM 5 or finer requirement. Many other technical societies have adopted the verification of fine grain steel based on chemistry alone: ASTM International (A6, A20, A29); American Society of Mechanical Engineers (SA6, SA20, SA29)

44、; American Bureau of Shipping; CSA International; EuroNorm; American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. 8.6 Purchase documents should specify not less than the following: AMS6433G Product form and size of the product desired Quantity of product desired. 8.7 Note that this alloy is also known as 4335V.
