TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS3.1 Wire CompositionShall conform to the percentages by weight show

15、of AMS2259. No variation over maximum is permitted for oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen.SAE AMS6453C Page 3 of 63.2 Melting PracticeSteel shall be vacuum induction melted or vacuum arc remelted.3.3 ConditionCold worked, bright finish, in a temper and with a surface finish which will provide proper fee

16、ding of the wire in machine welding equipment.3.4 Fabrication3.4.1 Wire shall be formed from rod or bar and descaled by a process that does not affect the composition of the wire. Surface irregularities inherent with a forming process that do not tear the wire surface are acceptable provided the wir

17、e conforms to the tolerance of 3.7.3.4.2 In-process annealing between cold rolling or drawing operations shall be performed in a protective atmosphere to avoid surface oxidation and adsorption of other extraneous materials.3.4.3 Butt welding is permissible provided both ends to be joined are alloy v

18、erified using a method or methods capable of distinguishing the alloy from all other alloys processed within the facility or the repair is made at the wire processing station. The butt weld shall not interfere with uniform, uninterrupted feeding of the wire in machine welding equipment.3.4.4 Residua

19、l material, drawing compounds, oxides, dirt, oil, dissolved gases and other foreign materials picked up during wire processing that can adversely affect the welding characteristics, the operation of the equipment or the properties of the weld metal, shall be removed by cleaning processes that will n

20、either result in pitting nor cause gas adsorption by the wire or deposition of substances harmful to welding operations.3.4.4.1 Residual material and dissolved gases deposited on, or adsorbed by, the wire as a result of cleaning or cold working operations shall be removed by vacuum degassing.3.5 Pro

21、pertiesWire shall conform to the following requirements:3.5.1 WeldabilityMelted wire shall flow smoothly and evenly during welding and shall produce acceptable welds determined by a procedure agreed upon by purchase and vendor. The referee method of ARP1876 may be used to resolve weldability dispute

22、s.3.5.2 Spooled WireShall conform to 3.5.2.1, 3.5.2.2 and 3.5.2.3.3.5.2.1 WindingFiller metal in coils and on spools shall be wound so that kinks, waves, sharp bends, overlapping, or wedging are not encountered, leaving the filler metal free to unwind without restriction. The outside end of the elec

23、trode (the end where welding is to begin) shall be identified so it can be located readily and shall be fastened to avoid unwinding. The winding shall be level winding.3.5.2.2 CastWire, wound on standard diameter spools as shown in Table 2 shall have imparted to it a curvature such that a specimen s

24、ufficient in length to form one loop with a 1-inch (25-mm) overlap, when cut from the spool and laid on a flat surface, shall form a circle (cast) within the limits shown in Table 2SAE AMS6453C Page 4 of 63.5.2.3 HelixThe specimen on which cast was determined, when laid on a flat surface and measure

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe vendor of wire shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall b

31、e responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the wire conforms to specified requirements.4.2 Classification of Tests4.2.1 Acceptance TestsComposition (3.1.1), sizes and toleranc

32、es (3.7), and alloy verification (5.2) are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot, as applicable.4.2.2 Periodic TestsDetermination of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen on finished wire (3.1.1.1), weldability (3.5.1) cast (3.5.2.1) and helix (3.5.2.2) are periodic tests and

33、shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.4.3 Sampling and TestingShall be in accordance with AMS2370 and as specified herein.4.4 ReportsThe vendor of wire shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests for

34、chemical composition of each heat and stating that the wire conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, heat and lot numbers, AMS6453C, nominal size, and quantity.4.5 Resampling and RetestingShall be in accordance with AMS2370.SAE AMS6453C Page

35、6 of 65. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 Wire shall be supplied on spools in one continuous length for machine welding or in cut lengths for manual welding. Wire on each spool or in each package of cut lengths shall be from the same heat of steel.5.2 Alloy VerificationWire on each spool or in each packa

36、ge of cut lengths shall be alloy verified by a method acceptable to purchaser. The alloy verification procedures of ARP4926 are recommended.5.2.1 An 8-inch (203-mm) length of wire shall be made accessible at both ends of each spool for alloy verification.5.3 IdentificationShall be in accordance with

37、 AMS2816 unless indentified in accordance with AMS2819 or other method is specified by purchaser.5.4 Packaging and MarkingShall be by premium quality method in accordance with AMS2814 unless the standard method in accordance with AMS2813 or another method is specified by purchaser.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENTA

38、 vendor shall include this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONSWire not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.8. NOTES8.1 A change bar (l) located in t
