SCOPE This SAE Standard specifies requirements for a gelled compound for cleaning the soiled exterior of service aircraft. The cleaning gel may be applied b

The surfaces to be cleaned may be unpainted metal or surfaces painted with glossy or matt schemes, including strippable acrylic paint complying with DTD 5599. DESCRIPTION The cleaning gel shall be a homogeneous gelatinous compound, free from abrasive matter, visible impurities and
21、 objectionable odor. The residues of the material in the effluent resulting from aircraft cleaning shall not interfere with the biological treatment of sewage, assuming a final dilution of 4000:1 v/v. 5. STORAGE LIFE The cleaning gel, when stored in its original sealed containers at a temperature be
22、tween 5 C and 35 C, shall retain the properties described in this Standard for a period, from the date of dispatch by the manufacturer, of not less than 24 months. 6. TEST METHODS 6.1 Test Conditions Unless otherwise specified, all tests shall be carried out at 23 C 2 C. 6.2 Composition Samples take
23、n from any portion of the supply shall be of the same formulation as that of the original test sample. 6.3 Condition When the material in the original containers or in the laboratory sample containers is examined in accordance with BS EN ISO 1513, it shall conform to Section 4. 6.4 Viscosity The mat
24、erial as supplied shall be suitable for both brush and spray application. 6.5 Test Requirements A sample taken from any portion of the supply shall comply with the requirements of Table 1. If any sample is found not to conform to the requirements of this Standard, the whole batch may be rejected. SA

30、ecified in the contract or order, the cleaning gel shall be supplied in sound, clean and dry containers suitable for the product. The use of contaminated containers may render the whole consignment liable to rejection. After filling, each container shall be securely closed. 7.2 Each container shall

37、with DTD 5592 Jig for holding the panel across a fulcrum (see Figure B1) Stirrups for holding weights Lint or other absorbent fabric B.2 PROCEDURE B.2.1 Remove the protective paper from the panel by soaking in water and smooth the edges of the panel by abrading in the direction of the longest edge o
38、n a sheet of 220 grade silicon carbide paper. B.2.2 Cut a groove 2 mm radius parallel to the short edge and 15 mm from one end of the panel. This may be conveniently done by clamping two panels together and drilling a 4-mm diameter hole at the interface (see Figure B2). B.2.3 Anneal the panels by he
39、ating in an air-circulating oven at 93 C 3 C for 3 hours and then allow to cool at a rate of 27 C hour-1 5 C hour-1to 23 C 2 C. Condition the panel for at least a further 16 hours at 23 C 2 C and 50% 5% relative humidity (RH). B.2.4 Measure the width and thickness of the panels to the nearest 0.1 mm
40、 at a point 65 mm 1 mm from the non-grooved end of the panel. B.2.5 Mount the test panel in the jig and place a 20-mm square piece of lint or other absorbent fabric soaked in the undiluted cleaning gel on top of the panel immediately above the fulcrum (see Figure B1). B.2.6 Place the stirrup in the
41、groove and load to produce a stress of 21 MPa. The load used shall be calculated for each individual test panel from the following formula: Lg6btSm2= (Eq. 45、11 of 20 ANNEX C - DETERMINATION OF EASE OF RINSING C.1 APPARATUS Rose spray with a substantially flat face, approximately 125 mm in diameter and drilled with 75 to 80 holes of 1 mm diameter distributed evenly across the face. A convenient configuration is a central hole surrounded by 5 n holes on e
46、ach of five concentric circles of radius 11 n where n ranges from 1 to 5. The apparatus shall be capable of maintaining a pressure of approximately 14 kN m-2at the rose face and ensuring that the cleaning gel under test is above the level of the drainage water. Two panels 100 x 100 mm of acid chroma
47、te pickled hard aluminum complying with and prepared in accordance with BS EN 605 and coated with a paint scheme complying with and applied in accordance with BS X 33 Type B primer with a finish to BS X 34 Type B (matt white). Allow the painted panels to dry for not less than 28 days at 23 C 2 C and
48、 50% 5% RH after application of the final coat.
