SCOPE:1.1 Scope:This specification covers the requirements for disposable self-pressurized kits which utilize a propellant can pressurized with a liquified gas to atomize a product contained in a separate but attached jar (see 6.1).1.2 Cl

19、in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.SAE AS22805 - 4 -3. REQUIREMENTS:3.1 First article:The spray kit furnished under this specification shall be a product which has been subjected to the first article inspection (see 6.3

20、) in accordance with 4.3.3.1.1 Type I propellant:3.1.1.2 Class 134A: The propellant for Type I, Class 134A shall consist of hydrofluorocarbons or a blend containing hydrofluorocarbons. Class 134A blends shall contain no chlorinated solvents, hydrochlorofluorocarbons or fully halogenated chlorofluoro

21、carbons.3.1.2 Type II propellant: The propellant for Type II shall consist of a hydrocarbon solvent blend.3.2 Spray kit:The kit shall consist of 4 spray devices, 10 propellant cans, 4 product jars provided with lids, and 20 dip tubes cut to proper length.3.3 Spray unit:The spray unit shall consist o

22、f a spray device, a propellant can, a jar and a dip tube. The spray unit shall be designed so that no component will become detached during handling or operation. The finished product shall be in compliance with all applicable Department of Transportation Regulations.3.3.1 Spray device: The spray de

23、vice shall consist of a housing or bridgelike piece which serves to unitize a propellant can power supply, a product jar, a dip tube, a spray nozzle, and a trigger or activating mechanism. The spray device shall be a rigid structure which shall prevent relative movement of the propellant can, jar an

24、d spray head during handling and operation. The spray device shall be designed so that no component part will become detached during handling or operation.3.3.1.1 Spray nozzle: The spray nozzle shall consist of a product delivery orifice and a propellant delivery orifice firmly secured to the housin

25、g or bridge portion. The spray nozzle shall be an external mixing type and must be designed so that the positioning of the orifices will not be disturbed during handling, use, or cleaning, and shall be of corrosion and solvent resistant construction. The product delivery portion shall be designed so

26、 that the dip tube can be securely fixed to it and allow not less than 1/4 inch exposure for attachment.SAE AS22805 - 5 -3.3.1.2 Activating mechanism: The activating mechanism shall be designed for convenient operation, requiring only one hand to hold and operate the unit. The activating mechanism s

27、hall be readily operated by finger pressure. A movement of the finger in activating the mechanism shall be not greater than 1/4 inch to activate the valve.3.3.2 Propellant can: The size of the propellant can shall be 211 x 413 mm and shall comply with specification DOT.2Q of part 178 of CFR 49. The

28、can shall be free of foreign matter and shall be provided with a valve for dispensing the propellant. The can shall have an exterior coating to prevent corrosion.3.3.2.1 Type I propellant charge: The propellant charge for Type I, Class 22 shall be 340 grams of material or blend described in 3.1.1.1.

29、 The propellant charge for Type I, Class 134A shall be 330 grams of material or blend described in 3.1.1.2.3.3.2.2 Type II propellant charge: The propellant charge to Type II shall be 184 grams of the solvent blend described in 3.1.2.3.3.2.3 Valve: The valve shall be centrally located on the valve c

30、up and shall be capable of being operated by the activating mechanism. The valve shall be a spray type valve through which the vapor phase propellant shall be delivered.3.3.2.4 Valve cover: A snap fitted rigid plastic or metal cover for the valve cup shall be provided to protect the valve from damag

31、e or accidental functioning during transportation or storage where parts of the valve mechanism extend above the valve cup.3.3.3 Product jar: The jar shall be a minimum of 4 fluid ounce capacity and a maximum of 8 fluid ounce capacity and be graduated with permanent and durable markings of 1/2 ounce

32、 increments. The jar and lid shall be shatter resistant plastic when tested in accordance with 4.6.5. The product jar shall conform to the jar clarity test of 4.6.4. A lid shall be provided for each product jar capable of effecting a solvent-proof seal.3.3.4 Dip tube: The dip tube shall be solvent a

33、nd crack-resistant material and shall be of such length as to come to within 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the bottom of the jar in final assembly.3.4 Interchangeability within kit components:The components of the spray kit shall comply to the applicable requirements of this specification, and shall be interch

34、angeable with like components of the kit and like components of other kits procured under the same contract.3.5 Physical properties:The spray unit, or the components thereof, shall conform to the requirements of Table I, when tested as specified herein and in the sequence listed.SAE AS22805 - 6 -TAB

35、LE I. Physical properties3.6 Workmanship:All details of workmanship shall be in accordance with standard commercial practice.SAE AS22805 - 7 -4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:4.1 Responsibility for inspection:Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible

36、for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Govern

37、ment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance: All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The

38、inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specificatioin shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted

39、to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or ac

40、tual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material.4.2 Classification of inspection:The examination and testing of the kits shall be classified as follows:a. First article inspection (see 4.3).b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4).4.3 First article inspection:First art

41、icle inspection shall consist of the examinations and tests specified in Table I.4.3.1 First article test samples: First article test samples shall consist of three (3) complete spray kits whose components have been manufactured and assembled for filling the contract. Samples shall be forwarded to,

42、and tested at a laboratory approved by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Warminster for conducting first article inspection tests. Information on approved test laboratories may be obtained from the Commanding Officer, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Warminster, P.O. Box 5152,

43、 Code 6062, Warminster, PA 18974-0591. Samples shall be plainly identified by securely attached durable tags marked with the following information:SAE AS22805 - 8 -4.3.1 (Continued):Samples for First Article InspectionSPRAY KIT, SELF PRESSURIZED.Plants where components are manufactured.Name of manuf

44、acturer or contractor.Contract or order number.Submitted by (Name) (Date) for First ArticleInspection in accordance with the requirements ofSpecification MIL-S-22805B under (reference applicablecontract number).4.3.2 First article sample and inspection for a subsequent contract: If a contractor has

45、previously furnished the kit in accordance with the requirements of this specification and his product has been found to be satisfactory, the requirement for a first article sample and its submittal for any subsequent contract or order may be waived at the discretion of the Naval Air Warfare Center

46、Aircraft Division Warminster.4.4 Quality conformance Inspection:4.4.1 Lot formation: An inspection lot shall consist of the total number of kits assembled for delivery under essentially the same conditions and presented for inspection at the same time.4.4.1.1 Certification: The contractor shall cert

47、ify that each charged propellant can delivered under contract has passed the Department of Transportation immersions test (see 6.7).4.4.2 Sampling:4.4.2.1 Visual and dimensional examination: A random sample of kits shall be selected from each lot in accordance with Inspection Level S-2 of MIL-STD-10

48、5. The sample unit shall be one kit. The samples selected shall be examined as specified in Table II.4.4.2.2 Tests: A random sample of kits to be tested shall be selected from each lot in accordance with Inspection Level S-2 of MIL-STD-105. The sample unit shall be one complete kit. The samples shal

49、l be tested to the requirements of Table I. There shall be no defects.4.4.2.3 Packaging inspection: An examination shall be made to determine that packaging and marking comply with the requirements of Section 5 of this specification. Defects shall be scored in accordance with Table III. The sample unit for this examination shall be one shipping container fully prepared for delivery, except that it need not be sealed. Shipping containers fully prepared for delivery shall be examined for closure defects. The lot size shall be the number of shipping co
