This action is to benonreversible, and the fuse is intended to be replaced after the circuit malfunction has been corrected.4. Part 1Design Parameters

8、4.1 MaterialsThe fuses shall have nonconductive bodies capable of withstanding vehicle environmentalconditions as set forth in this document. Terminals shall have a suitable finish which will assure corrosionprotection and satisfactory mechanical and electrical properties.4.2 ConstructionThe fuse sh

9、all consist of a terminal and element combination securely attached to anonconductive fuse body. Fuse terminals shall be exposed through the top portion of the fuse body to allow forinspection of the electrical continuity of the fuse while it is engaged in a fuseblock or fuseholder. Fuseelements sha

10、ll be visible through the body. Part 2Performance Requirements5.1 Ampere RatingThis document covers ampere ratings up to and including 120 amps. Preferred

12、 ampereratings are shown in Table 1. These ratings were determined at 24 C ambient temperature using a testprocedure as detailed in 6.1 of this document.5.1.1 WIREThe wire construction determines the maximum ampere capacity for a particular circuit. Table 2shows various cable constructions and their

13、 matched fuse ampere rating. Other wire construction such asPVCs and matched fuse combinations may be developed.5.1.2 TEMPERATUREFigure 2 represents the typical ampere capacity change with respect to ambienttemperature. The use of fuses in ambient temperature beyond the limits shown is not recommend

16、ded that the fuses not be loaded above 70 to 80% of their rerated ampere capacitybased on ambient temperature and the use of their matched cable size. In addition, it is furtherrecommended that actual performance be verified through testing experimentally in the vehicle.NOTE The specific ampere capa

17、city of a fuse is a function of the particular electrical system beingutilized. To aid in determining the actual capacity change, several factors should be consideredby the application engineer. These factors include ambient temperature, wire size, insulatingmaterial, and connecting clips.5.2 Voltag

18、e RatingFuses shall be capable of interrupting at any voltage up to and including 32 V.5.3 Maximum Voltage DropThe maximum voltage drop (in millivolts) at rated current across the fuse shall be asshown in Table 3.5.4 PerformanceTests shall be conducted within a temperature range of 24 C 5 C, which i

After testing, the fuse body shall be

21、intact and no damageto the standard test module or the fuse such as to prevent removal of the fuse shall be allowed.5.4.3 CURRENT CYCLING TESTFuses shall meet the requirements of 5.4.1 after current cycling for a minimum of250 000 cycles (cf.; 6.3).5.4.4 TRANSIENT CURRENT CYCLINGFuses shall meet the

22、 requirements of 5.4.1 after a minimum of 50 000 cyclesof transient current cycling (cf.; 6.4).5.5 Vibration TestFuses shall meet the requirements of 5.4.1 after undergoing 6 h of vibration conditioning(cf.; 6.5).5.6 Environmental ExposureFuses shall meet the requirements of 5.4.1 after sequential e

23、xposure to dust andaccelerated aging conditioning or thermal aging and salt fog conditioning (cf.; 6.6).NOTE One set of samples are to be used for the dust and accelerated aging conditioning tests and aseparate set of samples should be used for the thermal aging and salt spray conditioning tests.5.7

24、 Fluid CompatibilityFuses shall meet the requirements of 5.4.1 after exposure to specified test fluids(cf.; 6.7).6. Part 3Test Procedures6.1 ProcedureThe fuses with the exceptions noted in the vibration and accelerated aging tests, shall bemounted horizontally. When testing two or more fuses in seri

28、g test. All electrical tests shall be made with matched cable gauge, as shown in Table 2 and a standardtest module (shown in Figure 3). The interface voltage drop (VCDVAB) of the fixture shall not exceed 50 mV.The total voltage drop (VEF) should not exceed 100 mV. The voltage check shall be made usi

29、ng a solid copperdummy with silver plated terminals and with the dimensions as shown in Figure 4. 30、s) at rated current across the fuse shall be measured at theindicated points on the fuse terminals as shown in Figure 1 after 15 min of applied rated current.6.3 Current Cycling Test6.3.1 Resistors should be employed as load(s) to maintain the current to 68 to 72% of the fuse rating as shown inFigur

33、connecting cable should be used between each standard test module.6.5 Vibration TestSuitably mounted samples shall be subjected to a simple harmonic motion having anamplitude of 0.75 mm (1.50 mm total excursion). The frequency shall be varied uniformly between the limits of10 to 55 Hz. The entire ra

34、nge of 10 to 55 to 10 Hz shall be traversed in approximately 1 min. The motion shallbe applied for a period of 2 h in each of three mutually perpendicular planes (total of 6 h). (Testing to beperformed without current passing through fuse.) 6.6 Environmental Exposure6.6.1 DUSTFuses shall be placed i

35、n a dust chamber, Figure 7, unmounted and lying on their side. The chambershall contain about 1 kg of coarse grade dust conforming to SAE J726a. The dust shall be agitated for 3 severy 20 min by compressed air. The air shall be free of oil and moisture, at a pressure of 5.6 kg/cm20.10 kg/cm2entering

36、 through an orifice 1.5 mm 1 mm in diameter. The total exposure time to dust shall be24 h. 39、.)6.6.4 SALT FOGFuses shall be subjected to salt fog conditioning per ASTM B 117 for 48 continuous hours.(Testing to be performed in the standard model without current passing through fuse.)6.7 Fluid CompatibilityOne set of fuses shall be immersed in one of each of the test fluids at a temperature o

40、f24 C 5 C for 5 to 10 s. After immersion all liquid shall be drained from the fuses and the fuses shall be heataged at 120 C for 24 h. The test fluids are: ASTM #3 oil, reference fuel C, and SAE J1034 engine coolant.(Testing to be performed in the standard module without current passing through fuse
