DEFINITIONS 3.1 Body The transit mixer assembly and associated hardware that is mounted onto a chassis to form a completed ready mixed concrete truck. 3.2 Charge To add material into the drum 3.3 Charge Hopper The funnel-sha
10、ped apparatus at the mouth of the drum that directs material into the drum. 3.4 Chute Extensions Sections that extend the length of the chute during discharge operation, but that can be removed and stored on the vehicle during transport. 3.5 Chute Lock The locking device capable of keeping the main
11、chute from rotating. 3.6 Discharge Hopper The feature that gathers the material as it discharges from the drum and guides it into the main chute. 3.7 Debouncer The feature located at the discharge end of the drum that limits the vertical travel of an empty drum to prevent damage to the roller track.

13、ungs that provide access to the drum discharge area. 3.12 Drum Drive The assembly of parts that cause the drum to rotate. 3.13 Drum Hatch The hatch located at the wide portion of the drum used to access or inspect the interior of the drum. 3.14 Drum Roller Track The ring on the drum that rides on th
14、e drum support rollers. 3.15 Drum Support Rollers The wheels that support the drum during rotation. 3.16 Equivalent Diameter The diameter of a circle with the same cross-sectional area of an irregularly shaped object. 3.17 Fold-Over Chute The second section of chute that is permanently attached to t
15、he main chute and can be folded out of the way during transport. 3.18 Main Chute The first section of chute that is permanently attached beneath the discharge hopper and can be maneuvered to position the chute. 3.19 Manufacturer The original or any intermediate or final-stage manufacturer prior to t
16、he ready mixed concrete truck being offered for sale. 3.20 Modification To alter the vehicle or equipment in a manner that is not consistent with the Original Equipment Manufacturers design. 3.21 Operator An employee who is trained and authorized by the employer to operate a ready mixed concrete tru
17、ck. 3.22 Pusher Axle Auxiliary axle or axles located in front of the rear drive axles that can be raised or lowered during transport. 18、ion. 3.24 Remote Engine Control Any device capable of controlling engine speed other than the vehicles accelerator pedal. 3.25 Roller Pedestal The supporting structure at the discharge end of the drum. 3.26 Shall This word is understood to be mandatory 3.27 Should This word is understood to be advis

20、Extended Tag Axle An axle that extends past the rear of the vehicle to distribute the load for bridge law compliance. 3.31 Wash-Out Platform The standing surface next to the charge hopper that allows the operator access to spray the charge hopper with water. 3.32 Wash-Out Platform Access Opening The
21、 area where the operator steps onto the platform from the access ladder or steps. 3.33 Water Tank The vessel used to provide a water source for washing the material off of the mixer parts, and for adding water to the mix at the job site. 22、d Manufacture Ready Mixed Concrete Trucks manufactured in accordance with this recommended practice shall be permanently identified with the name of the final stage manufacturer, the date of manufacture (or a code traceable to the date of manufacture), and a compliance statement attesting to conform
23、ity with this recommended practice. 4.2 Body mounting A user of this document who installs bodies upon chassis is considered to be the final stage manufacturer for the purposes of this recommended practice. They shall permanently identify the name of their company, the date of mounting, and a compli
24、ance statement attesting to conformity with this recommended practice. 4.3 Reconstruction A user of this document reconstructing (including where modifications occur) ready mixed concrete trucks after the effective date of this recommended practice shall do so in accordance with all clauses of this
25、recommended practice and shall affix to such equipment their name, the date of reconstruction, and a statement attesting to compliance with this recommended practice. 4.4 Modification A user of this document modifying ready mixed concrete trucks after the effective date of this recommended practice
26、shall do so in accordance with the appropriate clauses of this recommended practice. 5. SAFEGAURDS AND SAFETY FEATURES 5.1 Personnel Protection. 5.1.1 Electrical insulation or isolation shall be provided where necessary in order to prevent electrical shock from onboard electrical systems. 5.1.2 Exha
27、ust pipe discharge shall be directed away from any position of operation. 5.1.3 Where parts of the exhaust system are exposed to operating personnel, protective guards shall be provided. 5.2 Component Protection. 5.2.1 Hydraulic hose lines, air system tubing, control cords, and electrical harnesses
28、shall be mechanically attached to the frame or body structure of the vehicle when required to prevent rubbing and chaffing. 5.2.2 Hydraulic hose lines, air system tubing, control cords, and electrical harnesses shall be furnished with protective looms, grommets, bulkhead connectors or other devices
29、at each point where they pass through body panels or structural members or wherever they lie against a sharp metal edge. 5.3 Service Items 5.3.1 A means shall be provided to allow access without tools to all items required to be serviced or inspected on a daily basis. 5.3.2 Any service panel or hood
30、 that could cause injury if it falls closed shall be equipped with a positive means of holding it open. SAE J2967 Issued AUG2013 Page 6 of 12 5.4 Vehicle Performance 5.4.1 The maximum top speed of the vehicle shall not exceed the maximum speed rating of the tires. This can be accomplished by limitin
31、g the engine speed, through gear ratio selections, or any other appropriate means. 5.4.2 Each load-bearing tire and rim of the vehicle shall not carry a weight in excess of the recommended load for the operation of truck tires of the size used, as published by the tire standards organizations, e.g.
32、Tire and Rim Association, Inc. (TRA), European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation (ETRTO), Japan Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JATMA).or as recommended by the tire manufacturer, when the vehicle is loaded to its GVWR. 5.5 Hazard Prevention 5.5.1 Where an enclosed lead-acid batter
33、y compartment is provided, it shall be ventilated to the exterior to prevent the buildup of heat and explosive fumes. 5.5.2 An audible warning shall sound automatically whenever the vehicles parking brake is not engaged and the drivers door is open. 5.5.3 An electric or electronic backup alarm shall
34、 be provided. 5.5.4 If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, the horn shall sound any time the driver door is open and transmission is left in gear. 5.5.5 Remote Engine Control shall not engage unless the transmission is in neutral gear and the parking brake is engaged. 5.5.6 If eq
35、uipped with an automatic transmission, the transmission shall be automatically be placed in neutral any time the park brake is engaged (auto-neutral feature). 5.5.7 Seat belts shall be of a high visibility color. 5.6 Equipment Mounting 5.6.1 All equipment in an area that may be occupied while the ve
36、hicle is in motion shall be secured. 5.7 Driver Controls 5.7.1 Controls and switches that are expected to be operated by the driver while the vehicle is in motion shall be within convenient reach of the driver. 5.7.2 If a joystick is used for control of front discharge chutes it shall function as fo
37、llows: Right hand left = swing left. Right hand right = swing right. Right hand forward = main chute down. Right hand back = main chute up. SAE J2967 Issued AUG2013 Page 7 of 12 5.8 Stepping, Standing, and Walking Surfaces. 5.8.1 Steps, platforms, or permanently attached access ladders shall be prov
38、ided so that the operator has access to all working and storage areas of the vehicle. 5.8.2 The maximum stepping height shall not exceed 18 in. (460 mm), with the exception of the ground to first step, which shall not exceed 24 in. (610 mm). Measurements shall be taken with the vehicle unloaded. 5.8
39、.3 All steps shall have a minimum area of 35 in.2(22,580 mm2), shall be of such a shape that a 5 in. (125 mm) diameter disk does not overlap any side when placed on the step, and shall be arranged to provide at least 5.9 in. (150 mm) of clearance between the leading edge of the step and any obstruct
40、ion. 5.8.4 All platforms shall have a minimum depth of 12 in. (305 mm) from the leading edge of the platform to any obstruction. 5.8.5 All access ladders shall have at least 5.9 in. (150 mm.) clearance between the leading edge of the rungs and any obstruction. 5.8.6 Step design shall minimize accumu
41、lation of debris and aid in the cleaning of mud and debris from the shoe sole. 5.8.7 Steps, rungs, walking and standing surfaces shall withstand without visible permanent deformation a force perpendicular to the surface with the following minimum criteria: 1012 lbs. (4500 N) uniformly distributed fo
42、rce per square meter of surface area or fraction thereof if less than 1.0 m2. 500 lbs. (2000 N) concentrated force applied at any location through a 125 mm diameter disc. 5.8.8 Ladder rungs on access ladders shall have a slip resistant surface or covering. 5.8.9 Where the fuel fill is located at or
43、near a stepping surface, the surface shall be constructed to facilitate draining of accidentally spilled fuel to lessen any slipping hazard. 5.9 Access Handrails or Handholds. 5.9.1 Access handrails or handholds shall be provided at each entrance to the cab and at each position where steps or ladder
44、s for climbing are located. 5.9.2 Exterior access handrails shall be between 0.38 in. (10 mm) and 1.63 in. (42 mm) equivalent diameter and have a minimum clearance between the handrails and any surface of at least 1.5 in. (38 mm). 5.9.3 Handrails and handholds shall be constructed and located so tha
45、t three points of contact (two hands and one foot, or one hand and two feet) can be maintained at all times while ascending and descending. 5.9.4 Handrails, handholds, and guardrails shall be capable of withstanding a minimum force of 225 lbs (1000 N) applied at any point from any direction without
46、visible permanent deformation. Flexible devices shall not deflect more than 3.2 in. (80 mm) from their normal undeflected position with the test load applied. SAE J2967 Issued AUG2013 Page 8 of 12 5.10 Charge Hopper Access Platform 5.10.1 A top railing or structure shall be provided no lower than 27
47、 in. (686 mm) nor higher than 42 in. (1029 mm) above the standing surface on all sides of the wash-out platform except at the access opening. 5.10.2 A means of access shall be provided to the washout platform on the left side of the vehicle. 5.10.3 A toe-board shall be provided not less than 4 in. (
48、100 mm) high above the standing surface on all sides of the wash-out platform except at the access opening. 5.10.4 The standing surface design shall minimize accumulation of debris and aid in the cleaning of mud and debris from the shoe sole. 5.11 Hydraulic System. 5.11.1 The nonsealing moving parts
49、 of all hydraulic components whose failure results in motion of a device shall have a minimum bursting strength of four times the maximum operating pressure to which the component is subjected. 5.11.2 Dynamic sealing parts of all hydraulic components whose failure results in motion of the a device shall not begin to extrude or otherwise fail at pressures at or below two times the maximum operating pressure to which the component is subjec
