ESSENTIAL PROJECP SPECLFtCATION CLAUSES 1.1 Set out .sultahle clauses in Portion 2 of the project npecification to provide essentLal information as follows: a) (Subclause 7.2) Specify the method to be used to determine the standard
8、of compaction that will be adopted or applied. 2. ESSENTIAL DATA 2.1 The avallabllity of certain essential data may affect the prices tendered. Except where snch data have been given in the schedule or in the tender drawings, set out suitable clauses covering items such as the following in Portion 2
9、 of the project specification: a) (Subclauses 5.2.1.2 and 5.2.2.1) Designate sites for the disposal of surplus material. b) (Subclauses 5.2.2.4(b). 5.2.2.4(c), and 8.3.8) Designate areas to be topsoiled and grassed and schedule separate items for operations on slopes of embankments and on slopes of
10、cuttings. (See also 3.2.3 below.) c) (Subclause 8.3.7) Designate the locwtion and give details of down-lets. N,OlTIONAI, CLAIISKS GENERAL. Should any of the matters dealt with in Clause 3 of Section D be considered appropriate to the contract, include
13、in the project specification suitable PSDN clauses covering these matters . 3.2.2 Materials for Suhballast Layer (Subclause 3.2.2). Where the characteristics of the materials likely to be availahle for the subballast layer are marginal, the engineer may wish to amend Subclause 3.2.2 of SABS 1200 DN
14、by means of a suitable project specification clause, such as the following, to save the cost of importing material or of stabilizing: PSDN EARTHWORKS (RAILWAY SIDINGS) PSDN 1. MATERIALS PSUN 1.1 Subballast layer (Subclause 3.2.2). At least one month before commencing cut to fill operations between S
15、V 5100 and SV 5800 the Contractor shall excavate a self-draining trench of convenient width to suit the plant on Site and of depth 2 m to disclose.the nature of the material that will be available for the subballast layer. Physical tests as ordered shall be carried out on the material and the result
16、s handed to the Engineer who may then suitably amend the terms of Subclause 3.2.2 of SABS 1200 DN. The cost of the excavation of the trench and the taking and testing of the samples will be paid as daywork. 3.2.3 Topsoiling (Subclauses 5.2.1.2 and 5.2.2.4(b). If topnoiling is scheduled, but the area
17、s to be covered cannot be designated at the tender stage, consider including a clause such as the following: PSIIN 2. CONSTRUCTION PSDN 2.1 Environmental protection (Subclauses 5.2.1.2 and 5.2.2.4(b). The Engineer will direct when and where topsoil is to be placed on cut or fill slopes or at points
18、where soil conservation and environmental protection measures are required. SABS 0120 : Part 2 Section DN-1982 Earthworks (railway sidings) 3.2.4 Dealing with In-Situ Drainage Problems (Subclause 5.2.2.1). Should it be necessary to provide drainage below an embankment, insert a clause such as the fo
19、llowing: PSDN 2.2 Drainage below embankment (Subclause 5.2.2.1). Drainage betow the embankment between . and km shall be constructed in accordance with the details shown on Drawing No. . or as ordered. Such work as is not covered by a scheduled item will be paid as daywork. 3.3 PRESTIGE PROJECTS. In
20、clude in the project specification clauses dealing with those portions of the work that require special workmanship, tolerances, or testing. 3.4 LAROUR-BASED PROJECTS. Until a suitable standardized specification has been published, state which clauses of SABS 1200 DN will not be applicable to the contract, and insert appropriate alternative clauses to cover the requirements in a manner more suited to the project.
