For the purposes of this part of the code, contract administration starts with instructions to the contractor to commence work as set out in Subclause 4.1

7、of Section 0. IMMEDIATKLY AFTER THE AWARD OF TNE CONTRACT ACCESS TO PROPERTIES (Subclause 5.2.1). The contractor should ensure that the notices provided in terms of Subclause 5.2.1 of SABS 1200 LF are delivered to each occupier/consumer in good time. METERS (Subclause 3.2.2). Where meters are to be

8、supplied by the employer, the engineer should ensure that they are available well ahead of the date by which they will be required by the contractor. DURING CONSTRUCTION METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION Service Connections to AC pipelines (Subclause 5.2.3.2) When holes are drilled in an AC main before saddle

9、s and rubber sealing washers are fitted, the contractor should ensure that each hole has enough clearance for the ferrule male end to enter freely after the saddle has been bolted onto the pipe. The hole in the rubber washer should be cleanly punched to allow the same clearance. To tap a connection

10、lnto a water main under full working pressure1), an indirect tapping may be made by clamping a saddle piece to the AC pipe barrel, through the wall of which a hole may then be drllled. Where the saddle and pipe are tapped together, the correct drill should be used and the ferrule should be screwed i

11、nto both the saddle and the pipe wall. Each ferrule should be screwed in fully and the connection tested to ensure that the flow through the tapping is full bore under the test conditions specified for the pipe system onto which lt is fitted. Installation of Meters (Subclause 5.5.1). Certain authori

12、ties prefer to install each meter with one long and one short collar joint to avoid having to spring the pipe to remove the meter. ADMINISTRATION Meter Testing at Manufacturers Works (Subclause 7.3). In addition to being subjected to tests by the - manufacturer, meters are tested for accuracy and ce

13、rtified (by means of a stamp placed on a lead seal) by an inspecLor appointed in terms of the Trade Metrology Act, 1973 (Act 77 of 1973).
