11、 of tin and lead alloys. 3 Definition For the purposes of this standard, the following definition applies: lot number of white metal ingots or bars of the same designation, from the same manufacturer, submitted at any one time for inspection and testing 4 Requirements 4.1 Chemical composition The in

Amdt 1 4.2 Physical condition The metal shall be supplied in the form of bars or ingots and shall be free from slag, dross and undue segregation. 5 Marking The following information shall appear in legible and durable marking on each ingot or bar: a) the n
14、ame or trade mark of the manufacturer or supplier; and b) the symbol WM 40. 6 Sampling and compliance with the standard1)6.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot complies with the relevant requirements of the standard. The sample taken shall be deem
15、ed to represent the lot. From the lot draw at random the number of ingots or bars given, as relevant, in column 2 of table 2 relative to the appropriate lot size shown in column 1. SANS 104:2009 Edition 1.1 5 6.2 Compliance The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of the standard if, after inspection and testing, the samples taken in accordance with 6.1 are found to co
17、mply with the appropriate requirements of the standard. 7 Inspection and methods of test 7.1 Inspection Inspect all the ingots or bars drawn in accordance with 6.1 for compliance with the requirements of 4.2 and clause 5. 7.2 Methods of test 7.2.1 General Any reliable method of chemical analysis may
18、 be used for determining the individual constituents of the alloy(s). Suitable methods are listed in 7.2.2, 7.2.3 and 7.2.5 and shall be the methods used in all cases of dispute. Amdt 1 7.2.2 Test sample for chemical analysis Obtain the sample for chemical analysis by making cuts of depth 15 mm with
19、 a clean saw having 55 teeth per 100 mm in each sample ingot at regular intervals of not more than 50 mm (see figure 1). Do not use any lubricant. Treat the sawings carefully with a magnet to remove any particles of steel which may have been introduced during cutting. Sieve the sawings through a sma
20、ll sieve of aperture size 250 m and weigh into coarse and fine fractions. Mix each thoroughly and take proportional masses of each when weighing samples for analysis. 7.2.3 Tin content and lead alloys Tin content and lead alloys shall comply with the requirements of SANS 5732. 7.2.4 Deleted by amend
21、ment No. 1. 7.2.5 Cadmium in solders and white metal Cadmium in solders and white metal bearing alloys shall comply with the requirements of BS 3338-17.
