11、the specification covers the requirements for ballvalves of nominal sizes 8-400 mm and of seven classes, intended for use as fire-safe valves. Amdt 2 NOTE a) The standards referred to in this part of the specification are listed in appendix A. b) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser

12、and those that must be agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser are listed in appendix B. c) Information regarding the verification of the quality of ballvalves produced to this part of the specification and a sampling plan that could be used to assess compliance with this part of the

13、specification of a lot of fire-safe ballvalves are given in appendix C. 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this part of the specification the following definitions shall apply: acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard, or to the parties concluding the purchase contract,

14、as relevant Amdt 2; amdt 3 full bore descriptive of a ballvalve in which the nominal diameters of the end port, the throat port, and the bore of the ball (see figure 1) are the same nominal size the nominal size of the pipe for which the valve is intended one-piece construction descriptive of a ball

15、valve that has a body manufactured as a unit pressure temperature rating the working pressure of a ballvalve, expressed in megapascals, at a specific operating temperature SANS 1056-1:2008 Edition 1.3 4 reduced bore descriptive of a ballvalve in which the nominal diameter of the end port exceeds tha

16、t of the throat port and the bore of the ball (see figure 1) split-body construction descriptive of a ballvalve that has a body consisting of two or more parts that are joined by screwing or by bolting 3 Requirements 3.1 Classification 3.1.1 Class The class of the ballvalve shall be 125; 150; 300; 6

17、00; 900; 1 500 or 2 500, representing nominal cold working pressures of 1,6; 2; 5; 10; 15; 25 and 42 MPa, respectively. NOTE The relevant primary service pressure ratings are given in BS EN 1759-1. Amdt 2; amdt 3 3.1.2 Pressure temperature rating 3.1.2.1 Flange pressure temperature rating The pressu

18、re temperature rating of the flanges of the valve shall be as given in BS EN 1759-1, appropriate to the type of steel used. Amdt 2; amdt 3 3.1.2.2 Seat pressure temperature rating The pressure temperature rating of the seat of a valve shall be at least the value given in table 1 for the nominal size

19、 of valve required. 21、e. Higher ratings may be used when so recommended by the ballvalve manufacturer. The ratings are non-shock pressure ratings. SANS 1056-1:2008 Edition 1.3 5 3.2 Nominal size1)A ballvalve shall be of one of the following nominal sizes: 8 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 65 mm, 80 m

22、m, 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm, 250 mm, 300 mm, 350 mm, or 400 mm. Amdt 1 3.3 Design The design of a ballvalve shall be acceptable and shall incorporate a combination of the following alternatives: a) full bore or reduced bore; b) hollow ball or cylindrical bore ball; c) one-piece construction or split-b

23、ody construction (see figures 2 and 3); d) seat-supported ball or trunnion-supported ball; and e) in the case of class 20 reduced-bore valves, the pattern, i.e. medium or short (see table 2). Unless otherwise required, a ballvalve shall be bi-directional. NOTE The advice of the manufacturer should b

24、e sought with regard to the choice of bi-directional ballvalves since certain pressure hazards are inherent in these valves. 3.4 Materials 3.4.1 Body assembly The body, body connector, and when and as relevant, the insert and cover shall be of the material agreed upon. 3.4.2 Ball, stem (or ball shan

25、k), trunnion, and gland These components shall be of stainless steel, or of a high carbon steel (or other such steel), of a quality as agreed upon. A component made of a material that is not inherently corrosion-resistant shall be so treated as to render it corrosion-resistant. 3.4.3 Operating membe

26、r An operating member shall be of metal and, if of a malleable cast iron, shall comply with at least the requirements of SANS 1190 for grade B340 castings. 3.4.4 Bolts and nuts Bolts and nuts used on components under pressure shall comply with the relevant requirements of SANS 1700-7-1 for grade 8.8

Amdt 3 1) The 8 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 65 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm, and 150 mm nominal sizes correspond to the in, in, in, in, 1 in, 1 in, 2 in, 2 in, 3 in, 4 in, and 6 in nominal screw thread sizes referred to in SANS 1109-1. 28、askets Seals and gaskets shall be of materials that are suitable for use at operating temperatures not exceeding 230 C (as agreed upon) and for the purpose for which the valves are intended to be used. NOTE Free chlorides in compressed fibre reinforced cement materials, when used with low alloy or a

29、ustenitic stainless steels, may cause stress corrosion cracking in the flanges and the use of alternative gasket materials should be considered. 3.4.6 Body seat rings Unless the use of another material is agreed upon, body seat rings shall be of a virgin PTFE oil-free resin without filler materials.

30、 Reclaimed PTFE is not acceptable. 3.5 Dimensions 3.5.1 Overall length of flanged-end valves The face-to-face dimension of a flanged-end valve incorporating raised face flanges shall conform to the appropriate value given in table 2, appropriate to the pattern required. SANS 1056-1:2008 Edition 1.3 8 3.6 Construction 3.6.1 Castings Metal castings shall be sound, dense, and free from laps, blow holes, and pitting on both inside and outside surfaces. The surfaces of a casting shall be clean, s

40、mooth, and free from sand; and castings shall not be burned, plugged, stopped, or patched. Upgrading shall be allowed. 3.6.2 Forgings Metal forgings shall be sound, dense, smooth, free from laminations, and well finished. 3.6.3 Welding The type of material and the process used shall be such as to en

41、sure that each weld has an acceptable finish that is free from porosity, weld spatter, and undercut, and is an approved grade B weld in terms of SANS 15614-1. Amdt 3 3.6.4 Machining When applicable, machined surfaces shall be accurately and smoothly finished to tolerances acceptable for the function

42、. 3.6.5 End connections The inlet and the outlet of a valve shall be provided with one of the following types of end connections: a) In the case of a valve of nominal size not exceeding 50 mm, a right-hand internal thread of size equal to the nominal size of the valve and complying in all respects w

43、ith the relevant requirements of SANS 1109. b) A flange that, unless otherwise required, complies with the requirements for flanges of the appropriate material of BS EN 1759-1. The flange shall be integral (i.e. in one piece) with the body, and its face shall be normal to the axis of the body with b

44、olt holes straddling the vertical centre-line of the valve. The flange face shall be plain or raised, as agreed upon. Amdt 2; amdt 3 c) A butt-welded end intended for assembly in a bevel-ended pipe of the same nominal size, and that complies with the requirements of BS 1600. Amdt 3 d) In the case of

45、 a valve of nominal size not exceeding 50 mm, a socket-welded end intended for assembly to a plain-ended pipe of the appropriate nominal size, and that complies with the requirements of BS 1600. Amdt 3 3.6.6 Alignment Any axial misalignment of the ball and the inlet and outlet of an assembled valve

46、shall, unless otherwise agreed upon, not exceed the appropriate of the following values: a) Valves of nominal size not exceeding 150 mm: 0,5 mm. b) Valves of nominal size at least 200 mm: 1,0 mm. SANS 1056-1:2008 Edition 1.3 9 3.6.7 Operating members 3.6.7.1 General An operating member shall rotate

47、in a clockwise direction when moving the ball to the closed position of the valve. The operating member shall be easily replaceable without the valve having to be removed from the pipe network in which it is installed. 3.6.7.2 Wrenches A wrench shall a) be of such length and so fitted that, when flu

48、id pressure on the closed valve is at full rated differential, the force required to rotate the ball in either direction does not exceed 350 N; b) in the case of valves of size at least 40 mm, be fitted with a stop or stops on the stem to restrain the rotation of the ball beyond the fully closed or

49、fully open position of the valve; c) be rounded off at the edges or so acceptably covered as to protect the hands of the valve operator, and be of such design as to provide an acceptable clearance between the wrench and the nearest part of the body; and d) be of such design that, in the case of a valve not fitted with a permanent open/closed indicator, it can be fitted in only such a way that it lies parallel to the flow when the valve is open, and at right angles to the flow when the valve is closed. 3.6.7.3 Handwheels A
