9、three types of two-piece (saddle and clamp) holderbats, for use in the installation of a) in the case of two types (type A and type B), steel or cast-iron pipes of nominal bore 6-150 mm and complying with the relevant requirements of SANS 62-1 and SANS 746 respectively; and Amdt 1 b) in the case of
10、one type (type C), copper pipes of nominal outside diameter 12-108 mm and complying with the relevant requirements of SANS 460. NOTE 1) The standards referred to in the specification are listed in appendix A. 2) Requirements that must be specified by the purchaser are listed in appendix B. 3) Inform
11、ation regarding the verification of the quality of pipe holderbats produced to this specification and a sampling plan that could be used to assess compliance with the specification of a lot of pipe holderbats, are given in appendix C. 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this specification the foll
12、owing definitions shall apply: holderbat a split ring, secured by screws or by other means adequate for the purpose, having a spike attached radially to the periphery of the ring (see figure 1 and figure 2) for fastening the ring to a surface for the purpose of supporting a pipe Size (of a holderbat
13、) Type A and type B (see figure 1). The nominal bore of the corresponding steel or cast-iron pipe. Type C (see figure 2). The nominal outside diameter of the corresponding copper pipe. SANS 1209:2008 Edition 1.1 4 3 General and constructional requirements 3.1 Type 3.1.1 Holderbats shall be of one of
14、 the following types: a) Type A. A holderbat of which the clamp is of a mild steel and the saddle of a cast iron. b) Type B. A holderbat of which the clamp and saddle are of a cast iron. c) Type C. A holderbat of a zinc alloy (diecast). 3.2 Materials 3.2.1 Cast iron Cast iron shall be a grey cast ir
15、on complying with the requirements of SANS 1034 for at least grade 150. 3.2.2 Mild steel Mild steel shall be a commercial quality mild steel. 3.2.3 Zinc alloy Zinc alloy shall comply with the requirements of SANS 26 for grade ZBD1. 3.3 Construction 3.3.1 Design and dimensions A holderbat shall consi
16、st of a saddle and a clamp that are similar in design to those shown in figure 1 or figure 2, as relevant. The saddle and clamp shall be secured together by means of screws or other fastening devices adequate for this purpose. The dimensions of a holderbat shall conform to the values given in figure
17、 1 or figure 2, as relevant, appropriate to the size of the holderbat. 3.3.2 Spike The spike of a holderbat shall be so designed as to resist the tendency of the holderbat, when under load, to pull the spike out of the surface into which it is fastened. 3.3.3 Screws Screws for holderbats shall be of
18、 the size, pitch, and class of fit given in columns 5, 6, and 7 respectively of figure 1 or figure 2, as relevant, and shall comply with the relevant requirements of SANS 1700-9-2. Amdt 1 3.3.4 Breaking strength When tested in accordance with 5.2, a holderbat shall withstand without breaking, the ap
19、propriate minimum test force given in column 8 of figure 1 or figure 2, as relevant. SANS 1209:2008 Edition 1.1 5 3.4 Finish Type A and type B holderbats shall be protected by a zinc coating that complies with the relevant requirements of SANS 121 or SANS 32 for type D11)articles (general or heavy d
20、uty applications). Type C holderbats shall be brass plated. Amdt 1 3.5 Freedom from defects Holderbats shall be free from blowholes and other defects that may affect their serviceability. 4 Packing and marking 4.1 Packing Holderbats shall preferably be packed in bundles or in suitable containers. On
21、ly holderbats of the same type, size, and design shall be packed together in a bundle or container. 4.2 Marking 4.2.1 Holderbats Each holderbat shall be legibly and indelibly marked with the following information: a) the manufacturers name or trade name or trade mark; b) the size of the holderbat. 4
22、.2.2 Containers Each container shall bear the following information, legibly and indelibly marked on the outside of the container, or on a label securely attached to the container: a) the manufacturers name or trade name or trade mark; b) the size of the holderbats; c) the type and the material of m
23、anufacture; d) the quantity in the container. 5 Inspection and methods of test 5.1 Inspection Visually examine and measure each holderbat in the sample for compliance with all the relevant requirements of sections 3 and 4, compliance with which is not assessed by testing. 5.2 Breaking strength test
24、5.2.1 Apparatus A test rig of the type illustrated in figure 3. 1) It is recommended that type A and type B holderbats for use in corrosive and coastal environments be protected by a zinc coating of type D1 (heavy duty). 25、 sample as follows: Clamp the holderbat under test in the test rig as shown in figure 3. Apply the appropriate test force given in column 8 of figure 1 or figure 2, as relevant, and check for compliance with the requirements of 3.3.4. b) Test the remaining holderbats in the sample as in (a) above, b
26、ut with the ring of the holderbats turned through 90, i.e. with the plane of the ring vertical. 37、lderbats (see 3.3.1) c) Whether the zinc-coating on type A and type B holderbats is to be for general or heavy duty applications (see 3.4) Appendix C Quality evaluation of pipe holderbats produced to the requirements laid down in the specification C.1 Quality verification C.1.1 When a purchaser requ
38、ires quality verification on an ongoing basis of pipe holderbats produced to this specification, it is suggested that, rather than to evaluation of the final product only, he also directs his attention to the quality management system applied by the manufacturer. In this connection it should be note
39、d that SANS 9001 covers the provision of an integrated quality management system. Amdt 1 C.1.2 If no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of a lot, and a purchaser wishes to establish by inspection and tes
40、ting of samples of the final product whether a lot (as defined in C.2.1) of the holderbats produced to this specification complies with its requirements, the sampling plan given in C.2 and based on the stated AQLs can be applied. (If a different AQL is required, reference should be made to applicabl
41、e statistical sampling tables.) Amdt 1 It must be noted that a) such a sampling plan applies to fully manufactured products only; and b) a lot that in terms of the plan is deemed to comply with the specification, could contain defective holderbats to an extent proportional to that permitted by the r
42、elevant acceptance numbers given in the sampling table. From the lot take at random the number of holderbats given in column 2 of table C.1 relative to the appropr
45、iate lot size given in column 1. b) Sample for testing. After inspection of the sample taken in accordance with (a) above, take from it at random the number of pipe holderbats given in column 4 of table C.1.
