、talk 1. Introduction A(m) PTT 1.1 Scope Qualified Audio Presence This document defines a physical and electrical interface to Project 25 mobile radios. The purpose of the interface is to allow standardized interfacing of external devices that require one or more of the functions of push-to-talk, qu

、alified audio presence, transmit audio, and receive audio. Some examples of such external devices are, 1) fire apparatus intercom and radio control audio and keying systems, 2) headset systems, 3) ambulance audio and keying systems, and 4) airborne audio and keying systems. A(P) This document also p

、rovides definition, and methods of measurement for the transmit audio, receive audio, and push to talk interfaces for radio equipment used in the Private (Dispatch) Land Mobile Services. The definition and description of the system in which this equipment operates are given in the APCO Project 25 Sy

、stem and Standards Definition, TINEIA-TSBI 02-A. 1.2 Functions The Mobile PTT Interface defines the following functions: I Function I Pin Abbreviation I 1.3 I Transmit Audio I AM I Not all of these functions will necessarily appear in all applications. Some applications will use only a subset of the

、 available functions. Other applications may use all of the functions. All of these functions are defined for standard operation in this document Audio Within this document, the term audio is meant to describe audio that has been decoded in the Project 25 CAI and Vocoder digital modulation process,

、or has been demodulated from a received analog modulated carrier. 1 TSB-102.CAAC 1.4 1.5 2. 2.1 2.2 2.3 Ap pl ica bi I i ty Not all mobile radio equipment meeting the Project 25 standards must include this interface. When the interface is provided on Project 25 compliant mobile radios, however, the

、interface must adhere to the electrical and physical requirements found in this document. Refe re nces The following documents contain provisions that, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards

、 are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this document are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. A(tx) is to be unbalanced to chassis ground. 3. A(tx) is to be a nominal low impedance. 3.2 Receive Audio Interface 1. Receive audio

、at this point is analog. 2. A(rx) is to be unbalanced to chassis ground. 3. A(rx) is to be nominal low impedance. 4. A(rx) is to have a bandwidth of a minimum of 300 to 3400 Hz. 5. Whether the radio is receiving an analog or digital carrier, this point will have analog audio. 6. In the absence of a

、carrier signal, this point shall have no more quiescent hum and noise than described in ANSI/TIA/EIA-603-A or 7. When receiving an analog carrier, subaudible tones are to be stripped off of this signal. ANS I/TIA/EIA-102.CAAB. 3.3 Push-to-talk Interface 1. PTT is to pull to ground to key on the tran

、smitter. 3. The PTT electrical interface shall be isolated internally so that application of nominal DC voltages or ground potentials will not damage the radio circuits. 4. PTT is to have immunity from DC voltages from O to +50 volts that may be applied to the interface by the external system. 3.4 Q

Receiver Interface Audio Output The receiver interface audio output is the pow

Method of Measurement a) Connect the equipment as illustrated. b) Apply a standard input signal, with the standard tone test pattern, at the stan

、dard input signal level, to the receiver input terminals. c) Record the AC audio output level as VAUD. d) The manufacture shall specify the audio output voltage VAUD. e) Apply a standard input signal, with the Standard Silence Test Pattern, at the standard input signal level, to the receiver input t

Residual Audio Noise Ratio The residual audio noise ratio is the ratio of the rated output power to the audio output power that results during voice silence

、periods, and the audio output that results during the time when the receiver is muted. Method of Measurement Connect the equipment as illustrated. Apply a standard input signal, with the standard tone test pattern, at the standard input signal level, to the receiver input terminal. Adjust the receiv

、er for rated audio frequency output power, and record the audio output level as VREF. Change the input signal to the standard silence test pattern. Measure the receiver audio output and record the level as VS. Remove the signal generator to mute the receiver and measure the receiver audio output. Re

、cord this level as VMUTE. Calculate the residual audio noise ratio as follows: residual audio noise ratio (silence) = 20 logIO(VREF / VS) residual audio noise ratio (mute) = 20 loglo (VREF / Vmute) The manufacture shall specify the residual audio nose ratio for silence and mute conditions. 6 TSB-102

、CAAC 5.1.3. Qualified Audio Presence The qualified audio presence signal is a standard option signal that indicates that there is audio present on the receiver interface audio output that has been qualified by the radio by matching selected encryption, sub- audible connect tone, carrier detection,

、fleet detection or other communications channel selection criteria Method of Measurement Qualified Audio Present a) Connect the equipment as illustrated. b) Apply a standard input signal, with the standard tone test pattern, at the standard input signal level, to the receiver input terminal. c) Measure the voltage at the qualified audio presence output record as VQA. d) The manufacture shall specify the VQA level and range. e) Remove the standard input signal. f) Measure the voltage at the qualified audio presence output record as VNQ. h) The manufacture shall
