19、 After ANSIITINEIA-568-B.l was approved for publication, it was realized that there was a need to explain and illustrate the concept of maintaining optical fiber polarity through reversepair positioning. The TIA TR42 Engineering Committee on User Premises Telecommunications Cabling Infrastructure ac

20、cepted the task and assigned it to the TR-42.8 Subcommittee, Telecommunications Optical Fiber Cabling Systems. The TR-42.8 Subcommittee cooperated with the TR42.1 Subcommittee on Commercial Building Cabling which is related to this activity. TIA Telecommunications Systems Bulletins are developed wit

21、hin the Technical Engineering Committees of the TIA and the standards coordinating committees of the TIA standards board. Members of the committees serve voluntarily and without commission. The companies that they represent are not necessarily members of the TIA. The bulletins developed within the T

22、IA represent a consensus of the broad expertise on the subject. This expertise comes from within the TIA as well as those outside of the TIA that have an expressed interest. The viewpoint expressed at the time that this Telecommunication Systems Bulletin was approved was from the contributors experi

INTRODUCTION Maintaining optical fiber cabling polarity through the cabling system is crucial to the delivery of services. Once a c

25、abling system is installed and correct polarity of the fiber pairs is verified, the administration of transmit and receive fibers will not be of concern to the encCuser. Reverse fiber pair positioning assures polarity by using identical adapter orientation on both ends of the cable and reversing the

26、 order of the fibers within each pair. 2 PURPOSE AND SCOPE This Telecommunications Systems Bulletin (TSB) is intended to provide installation guidelines for maintaining polarity of transmit and receive fibers in optical fiber cabling systems. These guidelines are intended for cabling installations r

27、egardless of the connector type (simplex or duplex types), the number of cross-connects, or the inclusion of an interconnect. This TSB expands upon the description of reversepair positioning within ANSIITIAIEIA-568-B.l, sub-clause 10.3.2. 3 NORMATIVE REFERENCES The following standards contain provis

28、ions, which through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this TSB. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this TSB are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent e

29、ditions of the standards indicated below. 30、andard ANSI/TIAIEIA-598A, Optical Fiber Cable Color Coding 4 GUIDELINES 4.1 General Optical fiber cable should be color-coded as described in ANSIITIAIEIA-598-A. This color-code is used for ease of identification and numbering of the individual fibers as reflected in table 1. Optical fiber cabling s

31、hould be installed so that the odd numbered fiber within the cable is paired with the next consecutive even numbered fiber (e.g., fiber l-blue paired with fiber 2-orange, fiber 3-green paired with fiber 4-brown). This installation of paired fibers forms the transmit and the receive transmission path

32、s used in providing a two-fiber telecommunications circuit. To achieve these transmission paths while retaining cable integrity, reversepair positioning may be used. Reversepair positioning is achieved by installing fibers in consecutive numbering sequence (i.e., 1,2,3,4 ) on one end of an optical f

33、iber link, and installing fibers using reverse-pair numbering (i.e., 2,1,4,3 ) on the other end of the optical fiber link. 35、ling system, the following steps should be taken. a) Assign each fiber in a given cable a sequential number, following the same order as described in ANSI/TIA/ElA-598-A (see table 1). b) Install connectors in adapters on both ends of the cable as follows (see figures 1, 2, and 3): 1) On one end of t

36、he cable, install the connectors in the adapters in consecutive order (i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4, .) from left to right. 2) On the other end of the cable, install the connectors in the adapters in reversepair numbering (i.e., 2, 1, 4, 3, .) from left to right. NOTES 1 - From the installers point of view, fib

37、er l-blue will appear on the left on one end and on the right on the other end. Fiber 2-orange will appear in the opposite manner, right on one end of the link and left on the other end of the link. 2 - Reversepair positioning may be obtained by installing the fibers on the connectors in this manner
