、NSVTIAEIA-553. Since these new standards will evolve independently, there will be changes made in the definition of message field assignments within the various messages. Since these standards are also dual mode (common analog), it is required that the interpretation of message fields be consistent

、for backward (and forward) compatibility. In order to facilitate this assessment of consistency, this Technical Service Bulletin has been created. It is envisioned that this document be revised accordingly each time a new revision of the associated standards is officially published by TIA. The scope

、 of this effort shall encompass all TIA TR45 Mobile Station - Land (Base) Station Compatibility specifications (commonly referred to as Air Interface specifications) that specifically or implicitly require interoperability. At this time, the standards included herein are: ANSIINEIA-553, ANSI/TIA/EIA

、-553-A, EIA/TIA IS-54-B, ANSI/TWEiA-627, ANSITINEiA-136-0 (also referred to as IS-1 36-A), ANSVTIA/EIA-136-A, EIA/TIA IS-88, EWTIA IS-91, EWTIA IS-gl-A, ANSVTIAEIA-691, EWTIA IS-94, EIA/TIA IS-95-A7 TIAEIA-95-B, EIA/TIA IS- 683 and EIATIA IS-683-A. The specific revision and publication dates of the

、2 23 24 25 Refer directly to the appropriate standard for message field definitions and abbreviations. The first column in Sections 4 and 5 refers to the 36 bits of each message (without parity). Bit 1 is the Most Significant Bit. This is similar for Sections 6 and 7, except that each message contai

、ns 28 bits. A solid horizontal line in Sections 4, 5, 6, and 7 indicates the division between fields within a message. Therefore, the length of each field (in bits) is directly proportional to the distance between the horizontal lines. To constrain a table to a single page, some fields have been con

、densed to a lesser line count if they contain a constant value (e.g. “P” field of 12 bits) When field values are pre-defined, they are specified. Therefore, the absence of the bit definition indicates a variable field. Reserved fields are always set to zero on the transmit side, and ignored on the r

、eceive side. No receiver should be designed to depend upon the zero values of reserved bit fields. In several standards, the Order/Order Qualifier values have effectively been extended through the use of the adjacent Local field. This has been noted in Section 8 with an “XXXXX” indication in the thi

、rd column. Refer directly to the appropriate standard(s) for further definition. This TSB covers the latest revisions of published TIA TR45 Air Interface standards, as well as historically relevant standards for which significant numbers of mobile stations may still be in use. Changes in message or
