、TIONS. TIA-464-C-1 1FOREWORD (This foreword is not part of this Standard.) This document is an addendum to ANSI/TIA-464-C, Telecommunications Multiline Terminal Systems Requirements for PBX Switching Equipment. It was developed and produced by TIA Subcommittee TR-41.1, Multiline Terminal Systems in

、accordance with ANSI and TIA procedural guidelines and represents the consensus position of the Subcommittee, which served as the formulating group. It has also received the concurrence of Engineering Committee TR-41, User Premises Telecommunications Requirements. This addendum makes the following c

、hanges to ANSI/TIA-464-C: - Change sections 6.2.3 - 6.2.5 to make them align with the new loss plan changes in ANSI/TIA-968-A-1 standard mandated by FCC for Part 68 product registration and new changes in analog telephone SLR values in the latest revision of ANSI/TIA-470.110-C. - Change all referenc

、es to TIA/EIA/IS-968 to ANSI/TIA-968-A or ANSI/TIA-968-A-1. - Correct the editorial mistakes in the existing ANSI/TIA-464-C standard. TR-41.1 acknowledges the contribution made by the following individuals in the development of this addendum to ANSI/TIA-464-C Standard. Name Representing Roger Britt

、Nortel Tailey Tung Siemens (Editor) Dick Frank Dietrich Lockard Group Suggestions for improvement of this Standard are welcome. They should be sent to: Telecommunications Industry Association Engineering Department Suite 300 2500 Wilson Boulevard Arlington, VA 22201 TIA-464-C-1 21. Introduction The

、purpose of this addendum is to update ANSI/TIA-464-C to make it in-line with the new changes in ANSI/TIA-968-A and ANSI/TIA-968-A-1 standards mandated by FCC for Part 68 product registration and the new changes in analog telephone SLR values in the latest revision of ANSI/TIA-470.110-C. It also corr

、ects the editorial mistakes in the existing ANSI/TIA-464-C standard. The TIA TR41.9 Subcommittee advanced the TIA/EIA/IS-968 interim standard to an ANSI approved TIA-968-A standard on October 29, 2002. They have made significant changes to the ANSI/TIA-968-A loss plan table and the signal power limi

、tation requirements in ANSI/TIA-968-A-1 addendum to ANSI/TIA-968-A standard. The new ANSI/TIA-968-A-1 loss plan relaxes the encoded analog content signal power limitations in ANSI/TIA-968-A, section 4.5.10 and the 2-wire and 4-wire lossless tie trunk signal power limitations in 4.5.2.1.2. These chan

、ges also coordinate with changes to the allowable net amplification between port requirements in Table 4.6. The result is less allowable net amplification between some ports and more allowable net amplification between other ports. The new ANSI/TIA-968-A-1 loss plan changes impact significantly the

、ANSI/TIA-464-C, section 6.2.5 for PBX loss range requirements. 2. Scope The requirements in this addendum are intended to align the requirements in ANSI/TIA-464-C standard for Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems with the new changes in ANSI/TIA-968-A and ANSI/TIA-968-A-1 standards mandated by FCC

、for Part 68 product registration. It also intended to assure satisfactory user voicegrade services in a high percentage of installations. If cases arise that have not been adequately addressed in this standard, any resulting problems should be resolved through the cooperation of the customer, the ca

、rrier, and the equipment supplier. It is recognized that some PBX products may not be accommodated by this standard because of non-standard line interfaces; e.g., proprietary digital station interfaces. In such systems, the station apparatus must be considered as a whole with the PBX and its associa

、ted station wiring, and the overall system must be described in terms of an acoustic (user) to an electrical (network) standard. 3. Revise technical requirements in sections 6.2.3, 6.2.4 and 6.2.5. 6.2.3 Insertion Loss Criteria for PBX The nominal values for PBX port-to-port connections are given by

、 the loss plan presented in Table 12. The PBX interfaces described in the loss plan are given in 4.3 and illustrated in Figure 1. 6.2.3.1 Port-to-Port Loss Table Interpretation In Table 12, arrows at the row and column designators indicate the transmission direction in which the coordinate loss valu

、es are to be inserted. The negative values in the Port-to-Port loss table denote gain; e.g., -3 indicates 3 dB gain. For example, coordinate 1B indicates a nominal port-to-port loss of 9 dB from the ONS interface to the OPS interface, and coordinate 2A indicates a 9 dB loss in the other direction, f

、rom the OPS interface to the ONS interface. The port designations in Table 12 indicate the specific application for which the loss plan was developed. These ports may, however, be used for other applications, as long as the resulting gains comply with the ANSI/TIA-968-A requirements for allowable ne

、t amplification between ports. (Ref 42, Section 4.5.2.5) 6.2.3.2 Port-to-Port Loudness Ratings Table Interpretation Table 13 is provided to show the relationship between OLR and SLR, Loss, and RLR. TIA-464-C-1 3For example, for an ONS to OPS connection, the ONS SLR is 4 dB, the PBX loss is 9 dB (coo

、rdinate 1B in Table 12), and the OPS RLR is 3 dB. The overall loudness ratings is therefore 4 + 9 3 = 10 dB. See Annex B2 for further information on loudness ratings. Losses have been selected as multiples of 3 dB, in the assumption that this may make implementation easier. 3. A loss of 3 dB is included in the ONS full

、 channel loss plan as the long-term objective, however the ONS SLR of most existing analog telephones is significantly quieter than 4 dB. Therefore, the loss values specified in the ONS row may be reduced by 3 dB until analog telephones meeting ONS SLR of 4 dB are available Table 13 - PBX Loudness R

The units for

、 all SLR, RLR and Loss values are dB. 2. The ONS SLR is 4 dB less than in ANSI/EIA/TIA-464-B; of this 3 dB is due to a 3 dB increase in send gain in TIA-470.110-C and 1 dB is due to a new methodology for determining ONS loudness ratings, which is detailed in TIA-470.11-C Annex E. The ONS RLR is 1 dB

、 less than in ANSI/EIA/TIA-464-B due to the new methodology in TIA-470.11-C Annex E. 3. The OPS SLR is 3 dB less than in ANSI/EIA/TIA-464-B due to a 3 dB increase in send gain in TIA-470.110-C 4. The SLR and RLR values include the following network losses: AAL(A) and AAL(D) include a nominal 6 dB ce

、ntral office loss ATT includes a 2 dB line loss. 6.2.4 PBX Loss Plan Assumptions The port-to-port losses for PBXs were developed based on the loss plans for public and private networks. The PBX loss plan is intended to provide satisfactory Grade-of-service (GoS) performance and compatibility with th

、e public and private network loss plans. The following assumptions were the prime considerations: (1) The transmission loss and level plan of the PSTN, which is primarily an all-digital network with some fixed loss as described in ANSI T1.508-2004 (Ref 8), forms a basis for the private network loss

、plan. (2) Digital end offices insert 6 dB of loss, as described in T1.508, in the receive direction of analog access lines to ensure network stability and echo control. (3) Transmission facilities to be used have losses compatible with the PBX port-to-port losses. (4) PBX port-to-port losses associa

、ted with analog interfaces apply to any trunks with analog terminations at the PBX. (5) PBX port-to-port losses associated with digital interfaces apply to any trunks with digital terminations at the PBX. (6) Non-proprietary PBX stations have the following loudness ratings: Station SLR RLR Notes OPS

、 8 -3 1 ONS 4 -7 2 DGS 8 2 3 Notes: 1. The OPS (off premises station) ratings are representative of 2500-type sets operating on 26 gauge / 2.75 km loops with normal 48 battery feed and 600 ohm termination, as measured at a VG OPS port. See ANSI/TIA-470.110-C, Annex E for further details 2. The ONS (

、on premises station) ratings are representative of 2500-type sets operating on very short loops with the typical current-limited battery feed and 600 ohm termination of VG ONS ports. See ANSI/TIA-470.110-C, Annex E for further details. 3. The DGS (digital station) ratings are chosen to improve inter

、operability with the ITU-T standard SLR/RLR levels for digital sets of 8 and 2. See ANSI/TIA-810-A (Ref 16) for further details. TIA-464-C-1 56.2.5 PBX Loss Ranges and ANSI/TIA-968-A Requirements 6.2.5.1 Recommended Loss Ranges The port-to-port losses in Table 12 are the recommended nominal values. Although there are no mandatory loss ranges associated with these values, it is desirable that the average 1 kHz loss fall within +0.5 dB of the nominal loss values given in Table 12. 6.2.5.2 ANSI/TIA-968-A Requirements Tables
