TIA DOCUMENTS TIA Documents contain information deemed to be of technical value to the industry, and are published at the request of the originating Committee without necessarily following the rigorous public review and resolution of com

TIA documents shall be reviewed on a five year cycle by the formulating Committee and a decision made on whether to reaffirm, revise, withdraw, or proceed to develop an American National Standard on this subje

6、ct. Suggestions for revision should be directed to: Standards FO-6.6, Subcommittee on Optical Fibers and Materials; and FO-6.6.5, Working Group on Single-Mode Fibers. This Specification forms a part of a set of TINEIA standards that systematically specifies performance requirements for optical fiber

7、. This hierarchical specification system comprises four tiers: - The Generic Specification, EIA/TIA-4920000-B, is the umbrella document for all optical fiber specifications. It delineates minimum requirements that are common to all optical fiber types, as well as providing a “shopping list“ of test

8、requirements and test methods that may be applied to families of fiber targeted toward various applications, and to specific groups of fiber designs. - Sectional Specifications define requirements for fiber families, ordered by primary design (e. g., multimode, single-mode). They set forth requireme

9、nts applicable to all fibers in the family. Sectional Specifications reference the Generic Specification, extracting requirements applicable to the fiber family. They may introduce other requirements that are not addressed in the Generic Specification. Values for most requirements are delegated spec

10、ifically to the Detail Specifications. - Blank Detail Specifications are prepared for a limited series of fiber subfamilies that fall within the family of the relevant Sectional Specification. They give specific directions for writing Detail Specifications and may introduce additional requirements t

11、hat are not addressed in the higher-order documents. - Detail Specifications follow the applicable Blank Detail Specification and provide detailed requirements for specific applications. They also may introduce additional requirements not addressed in the higher-order documents. Values for primary p

12、erformance requirements are given in the Detail Specifications. Detail Specifications may be written by TIA Working Groups or by manufacturers. Some attributes that are normally expected to vary among purchases (e. g., length) may be delegated to the procurement document. The procurement document re

15、o dispersion single-mode optical fibers for the 1550 nm window. Use of this document is intended to eliminate misunderstandings or confusion between the supplier and user with respect to product performance requirements and test procedures. I Scope This Specification applies to Class IVd nonzero dis

16、persion single-mode optical fibers with glass core and cladding. Class IVd fibers are typically used in telecommunications, video, and data applications. Their chromatic dispersion is nonzero throughout the wavelength range of anticipated use. This Specification, Basic Specification EIAITIA-455-A an

17、d its addenda, Generic Specification TiA/EIA-4920000-B, Blank Detail Specifications, and all Detail Specifications derived from the first four listed Specifications shall follow the specification structure used in the U.S. National Electronic Components Quality Assessment System (NECQ). 19、ts for proposals, form part of this Specification to the extent specified herein: TINElA-4920000-B, Generic specification for optical fibers. This includes all documents referenced in 2.1 (TINEIA-4920000-B is called the “Generic Specification“ throughout this document). EIA/TIA-455-A, Standard fest

20、procedures for fiber optic fibers, cables, transducers sensors, connecting and terminating devices, and other fiber optic components. Each Fiber Optic Test Procedure (FOTP) is a separate addendum to EIARIA-455, and each is designated by the FOTP number, as the “XX“ in EIA/TIA-455-XX. 3 Background in

21、formation 3.1 Object The object of this Specification is to define requirements of product, testing, and specification documents, in order to assist those who prepare Detail Specifications based on this document. This object is carried out, in part, by prescribing required attributes and their prefe

22、rred values or characteristics, and in selecting from the Generic Specification the appropriate Quality Assessment procedures, tests, and measurement methods. Derive one or more Blank Detail Specifications from this document to serve as a practical form for the preparation of Detail Specifications.

23、The minimum list of specified attributes will be included in the Blank Detail Specification. The preferred values prescribed in this Sectional Specification may also be repeated in the Blank Detail Specification if it is practical to do so. A Blank Detail Specification is required for each subclass

24、of nonzero dispersion single- mode fiber, as appropriate. Requirements that are specific to a subclass may be found in a Blank Detail Specification. 2 STD*EIA TIA-92EOOO-ENGL L79b = 3234b00 0580502 b7L TINEIA-492E000 Clause 4 specifies -the attributes that shall be specified in a derived Detail Spec

25、ification, along with preferred values and characteristics. Clause 5 describes the Quality Assessment procedures and includes qualification approval and Quality Conformance Inspection (QCI) requirements. Clause 6 outlines the recommended tests and measurements. This Specification also indicates whic

26、h test options and performance requirements may be left to the Detail Specification writer. 3.2 Information to be given in a Detail Specification Each Detail Specification shall be derived from the applicable Blank Detail Specification. Detail Specifications shall follow the Specification Order prov

27、isions of 3.6 of the Generic Specification. Required attributes and preferred values are given in clause 4 of this Sectional Specification. Additional attributes or preferred values may be specified. Provide the following information in each Detail Specification: 3.2.1 Classification and type requir

28、ements Product classification and construction information, along with a description of the application, shall be in the Detail Specification. 3.2.2 Required information for all attributes For each required attribute, specify the following: - Attribute name - Test procedure(s) and information requir

29、ed by the procedures - One of the following: - Limit bound(s) - Nominal value(s) and tolerance - Minimum sample size for qualification and periodic requalification - Minimum frequency for periodic requalification - Additional QCI method(s) and associated required information Normative annexes may be

30、 used to record classes of specified information so that the body of the Detail Specification can remain in table form. 31、e Detail Specification may include columnar headings for annex references. 3.2.3 Additional attributes The Blank Detail or Detail Specifications may contain additional attributes. information required in 3.2.2 shall be specified for these additions. 3.3 Marking Marking is a requirement for all fiber

32、 types specified with this document. 3.3.1 Mark the shipping carton with identification associated with the purchase order. 3.3.2 Mark the shipping reel with a unique reel identification code. A method linking the unique reel identification to the following information shall be available. All Fiber

33、class Nominal cladding diameter Nominal coating diameter Minimum tensile proof test level Minimum length Maximum attenuation coefficient at each specified wavelength Nominal mode field diameter 3.4 Numbering system The numbering system shall conform to the provisions given in 3.8 of the Generic Spec

34、ification. 4 TINEIA-492E000 - 4 Required attributes, preferred values, and characteristics This clause gives the minimum list of attributes that shall be specified in the Detail Specification. Preferred values and characteristics are also given. The following multicellular attributes are part of the

35、 minimum list fiber length, proof test, sign of chromatic dispersion, attenuation coefficient at 1550 nm, and mode field diameter. Whenever the word “preferred,“ or “typically,“ appears below, it shall be considered to be synonymous with “recommended.“ The attributes specified in Detail Specificatio

36、ns shall include the following: 4.1 Classification and construction (type attributes) The classification shall be designated according to 3.5 of the Generic Specification. The construction shall be designated according to the nominal values for cladding diameter and coating diameter. 4.2 Dimensional

37、 attributes 4.2.1 Cladding diameter Specify a nominal value, typically 125.0 pm, and tolerance, typically 2 1 .O pm. 4.2.2 Cladding noncircularity Specify a maximum value, typically I .O%. 4.2.3 Corekladding concentricity error Specify a maximum value for the offset between centers, typically I .O p

38、m. 5 TINEIA492E000 - 4.2.4 Coating diameter Specify one of the following nominal values: 245 tr 10 pm, for uncolor-coded fiber 250 2 15 pm, for color-coded fiber 500 f 25 pm, for color-coded or uncolor-coded fiber 4.2.5 Coating/cladding concentricity error Specify a maximum value for the offset betw

39、een centers, typically 20 pm for 245 pm and 250 pm fibers, and 35 pm for 500 pm fibers. 4.2.6 Fiber length (nominal) Specify a minimum value, or multiple minimum values, of nominal length within a Detail Specification, typically to the nearest 0.1 km. 4.2.7 Fiber curl Specify a minimum radius of cur

40、vature for the curl of an uncoated fiber, typically 2.0 meters. NOTE: Compute the Statistical Index (SI) for fiber curl using the inverse radius of the data and a maximum value equal to the inverse of the minimum specified radius of curvature. 4.2.8 Other dimensional attributes There are no preferre

41、d values for other dimensional attributes. 4.3 Mechanical attributes 4.3.1 Proof test Specify a minimum strength value, or multiple minimum values, within a Detail Specification. The preferred value is 0.69 GPa. 4.3.2 Other mechanical attributes There are no preferred values for other mechanical att

For short-length applications (typically 0.10 dBlk

43、m). 4.5.4 Other environmental attributes There are no preferred values for other environmental attributes. 4.6 Other requirements 4.6.1 Coating Specify the generic material used for fiber coating in the Detail Specification. Acrylate 9 TINEIA-492E000 is the typical coating composition. 4.6.2 Factory

44、 splicing The Detail Specification shall specify whether or not factory splicing is permitted. Typically, factory splicing is not allowed. When factory splicing is allowed, it shall be so noted in the Detail Specification, with the requirements in 3.9.2 of the Generic Specification applied. 5 Qualit

45、y assessment procedures 5.1 Definitions The following definitions apply beyond those indicated in 3.1 of the Generic Specification. 5.1 .I Primary stage of manufacture The primary stage of manufacture shall be coated fiber. 5.1.2 Structurally similar components Fibers with the same classification, n

46、ominal cladding diameter, nominal coating diameter, and coating composition shall be considered structurally similar. 5.1.3 Quality Conformance Inspection (QCI) codes The QCI methods follow 4.4 of the Generic Specification. 47、 L99b = 3234b00 0580510 748 TINE lA-492 E000 - 5.2 Qualification approval The requirements defined in 4.3 of the Generic Specification shall be followed. 5.2.1 General processes and procedures A document attesting to the items listed in 4.3 of the Generic Specification shall be prepared and signed b

48、y a ranking member of the suppliers quality organization at the supplying location, for each Detail Specification. An inspector may negotiate independent verifications on a case-by-case basis, but verification shall be provided with the primary, signed documentation. 5.2.2 Measurement methods The su

49、pplier shall provide evidence and documentation that measurement methods used to test fiber attributes meet the requirements of the specified test procedures. Multiple test procedures specified for an attribute imply that the methods are equivalent and that any may be selected by a supplier. The supplier shall document which specific methods are used. 5.2.3 Product testing Product testing shall be completed for each attribute specified in the Detail Specification, according to 4.3.2 of the Generic Specification. Unless otherwise specified, the minimum sample size shall be
