、2 Terms and Definitions 5 Access Channel. A Reverse CDMA Channel used by mobile stations for communicating to 6 the base station. The Access Channel is used for short signaling message exchanges such 7 as call originations, responses to pages, and registrations. The Access Channel is a slotted 8 ra

、ndom access channel. 9 Direct Channel Assignment. A MS-terminated call set-up procedure where the channel 10 assignment can be sent directly to a mobile station without receiving a page response 11 message from the mobile station. 12 Enhanced Access Channel. A reverse channel used by mobile station

、for communicating 13 to the base station. The Enhanced Access Channel operates in the Basic Access Mode, and 14 Reservation Access Mode. It is used for transmission of short messages, such as signaling, 15 MAC messages, response to pages, and call originations. It can also be used to transmit 16 mod

、erate-sized data packets. 17 Frame. A basic timing interval in the system. For the Sync Channel, a frame is 26.666. 18 ms long. For the Access Channel, the Paging Channel, the Forward Supplemental Code 19 Channel, and the Reverse Supplemental Code Channel, a frame is 20 ms long. For the 20 Forward S

、upplemental Channel and the Reverse Supplemental Channel, a frame is 20, 40, 21 or 80 ms long. For the Enhanced Access Channel, the Forward Common Control Channel, 22 and the Reverse Common Control Channel, a frame is 5, 10, or 20 ms long. For the 23 Forward Fundamental Channel, Forward Dedicated Co

、ntrol Channel, Reverse Fundamental 24 Channel, and Reverse Dedicated Control Channel, a frame is 5 or 20 ms long. For the 25 Common Assignment Channel, a frame is 5 ms long. For the Broadcast Control Channel, a 26 frame is 40 ms long; the frame may be transmitted once, twice, or four times. For the

、27 Forward Packet Data Control Channel and the Forward Packet Data Channel, a frame could 28 be 1.25, 2.5, or 5 ms long. For the Reverse Acknowledgment Channel and the Reverse 29 Channel Quality Indicator Channel, a frame is 1.25 ms long. For the Reverse Packet Data 30 Channel, the Reverse Packet Da

、ta Control Channel, the Reverse Request Channel, the 31 Forward Indicator Control Channel, the Forward Grant Channel, and the Forward 32 Acknowledgment Channel, a frame is 10 ms long. 33 Frame Quality Indicator. See 2. 34 MAC Layer. Entity that controls the access to and from Upper Layer Signaling,

、Data 35 Services, and Voice Services to Physical Layer resources. 36 Physical Layer. The part of the communication protocol between the mobile station and 37 the base station that is responsible for the transmission and reception of data. The 38 physical layer in the transmitting station is presente

、d a frame by the multiplex sublayer 39 and transforms it into an over-the-air waveform. The physical layer in the receiving station 40 3GPP2 C.S0108-0 v1.0 1-2 transforms the waveform back into a frame and presents it to the multiplex sublayer above 1 it. 2 Registration. The process by which a mobil

、e station identifies its location and parameters 3 to a base station. 4 Selective Retransmission Mode A mode of Enhanced Access Channel operation that 5 allows the mobile station to re-transmit only the Enhanced Access Channel data frames not 6 yet received by the base station.Service Access Point.

、Conceptual point at the interface 7 between two adjacent layers where services are provided to the upper layer and data and 8 protocol information is exchanged between layers. 9 10 1.3 References 11 The following standards are referenced in this text. At the time of publication, the editions 12 indi

All standards are subject to revision, and parties to 13 agreements based upon this document are encouraged to investigate the possibility of 14 applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. ANSI and TIA maintain 15 registers of currently valid natio

、pectrum Standards. 28 1.4 Features Introduced in Revision F of cdma2000 1x for M2M 29 Revision F of cdma2000 1x is mainly optimized for M2M. As the industry foresees the large 30 number of connected devices in the future, there is a strong demand to optimize both the 31 air interface and the network

、 to accommodate this huge increase in traffic. At the same 32 time, battery consumption is also a concern, as most M2M devices are remotely located and 33 frequent changes of battery is not an option. 34 35 Therefore, Revision F of cdma2000 1x is designed with the following in mind: 36 - To reduce time on the traffic channel, use access channel as much as possible 37 - To reduce the amount of overhead in signaling 38 3GPP2 C.S0108-0 v1.0 1-3 - To reduce battery consumption 1 - To take advantage of delay tolerant characteristic of M2M devices 2 3 Various M2M relate
