Suggestions for revision should be directed to: Standards where design, performance, and ongoing quality requirements are specified. 1.3 Objective The objective of this specification is to aid in the development of a Detail Specification listing minimum design and performance criteria of co

8、nventional, permanent, optical fiber splices. This specification shall be used in conjunction with the Sectional and Generic Specifications (TINEIA- This objective is achieved through the establishment of a descriptive splice classification, required design features, minimum performance attribute va

9、lues, and quality assessment criteria. The testing and reporting methods to be used in the evaluation of the fiber optic splices are as outlined in the Generic Specification and the Sectional Specification (TINEIA-6090000 & 6090000 & TINEIA-609A000). Sectional Specification for Optical Fiber Splices. 1 TINEIA-609AA00 2 Requirements 2.1 Environmental category This specification may be used to generate Detail Specifications for optical fiber splices in the followin

11、g environmental categories. 2.1 .I Environment I: Controlled A controlled environment suggests complete protection from the elements with a maximum temperature range of +IO OC to +40 OC, a maximum relative humidity of 90%, and atmospheric pressure from 460 to 836 mmHg. A controlled environment would

12、 be found inside of a building with climatically controlled conditions. The tests required for environmental category I are listed in Table 1. 2.1.2 Environment II: Protected A protected environment is protected from the elements in a sealed closure with a maximum temperature range of -40 OC to +80

13、OC, maximum relative humidity of 98%, and an atmospheric pressure range of 460 to 1,140 mmHg. An example of a protected environment is inside of a sealed splice closure in an aerial, pedestal, or buried application. The tests required for environmental category II are listed in Table 2. 2.1.3 Enviro

14、nment 111: Non-Protected A non-protected environment is one in which the splice may be exposed to the elements or environmental conditions that are more strenuous than would be seen in todays common applications. The actual environmental extremes are to be defined by the author of the Detail Specifi

15、cation. An example of a non-protected environment may be in the outside plant without a sealed closure surrounding it, on an airplane, submarine, or battle field. The tests required for environmental category III are listed in Table 3. 2.1.4 Environment IV: Other The category “Other“ refers to unusu

16、al or very specialized applications incompatible with requirements of the preferred categories. This category may be used to construct a Detail Specification unique to these unusual or specialized applications. The test required for environment category IV are listed in Table 4. The required tests a

17、re kept to a minimum in order to provide complete flexibility to the Detail Specification author. 2 TINEIA-609AA00 2.1.5 Modified Environmental Categories Detail Specification writers may add tests and/or Groups of tests to a particular environmental category as specified in the Sectional Specificat

18、ion. However, tests may not be removed nor the sequence altered. When tests are added to a specified category, give the category a (+) designation. 28、tail Specification. The Detail Specification worksheet includes a format for specifying test parameters such as sample size, test schedule, test duration, test conditions, splice yield, module yield, and performance requirements. While the Detail Specification worksheet provides space for the specif

29、ication of tests required in all four environmental categories, only those tests which are applicable to the environmental category for which the specification is being written shall be specified. The tests required for each environmental category are given in tables 1,2, 3 and 4. Tests above and be

30、yond those listed in the tables may be specified. If further tests are specified, the environmental category shall be given a (+) designation. 7 TINEIA-609AA00 3 QUALITY ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE 3.1 Sample Sizes Minimum sample sizes for qualification and re-qualification testing shall be specified in th

31、e Detail Specification worksheet. 3.2 Lot-By-Lot Inspection Minimum mandatory assessment levels shall be specified in the Detail Specification worksheet 3.3 Periodic Inspection The minimum mandatory test periods for periodic requalification tests shall be specified in the Detail Specification worksh

32、eet. 8 TINEIA-609AA00 4 TEST AND MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES 4.1 Reporting Test Results Tests results shall be reported in a consistent and logical format. Each test shall have a corresponding test report. Data shall be graphed whenever possible. All data required by the Generic, Sectional, Blank Detail

33、and Detail Specifications shall be reported. In the event of a splice failure, documentation shall be included as to the nature of the failure, cause (if known), and steps taken to correct and/or prevent such failures in the future. 4.2 Test Procedures Refer to the Sectional Specification for prefer

34、red attribute values and test specifications not included in this Detail Specification. Refer to the cited test reference for the test procedure. 9 TINEIA-609AA00 5 DETAIL SPECIFICATION WORKSHEET The following worksheet is designed to aid in the preparation of a Detail Specification for permanent, c

35、onventional splices to be used in one of the four environmental categories. The final Detail Specification will duplicate the worksheet with all spaces filled in. Each space requires an entry by either the individual writing the Detail Specification or the ElMIA. Each space is identified by a number

36、 in parenthesis which corresponds to the numbered instructions below. These numbers should be eliminated in the completed detail specification. The instructions for filling in these spaces are as follows: Enter the project number into the first line of the header and the number of the Detail specifi

37、cation assigned by TIA into the second line of the header. Enter the Working group or Subcommittee and the preparation date in the footer. Enter a title in bold-face type which includes the words “Detail Specification for“ along with a brief description of the splice classification covered by the sp

38、ecification. Below this enter the name of the preparer and/or organization. Enter the Detail Specification number assigned by TINEIA. At the time of publication, TIA inserts the date of issue. Enter the splice TYPE NAME. Enter the FIBER DIMENSIONS. Enter the # OF FIBER JOINTS. Enter the WAVELENGTH(S

39、) to be used. If specified, identify the relevant Normative Reference Extension SOURCE If specified, identify the relevant Normative Reference Extension document NUMBER If specified, identify the relevant Normative Reference Extension document TITLE Enter the LEVEL OF TRAINING. Enter the splice ENVI

40、RONMENTAL CATEGORY. If tests are added to the minimum mandatory tests of Table 1, 2,3, or 4 add a plus sign (+) to the environmental category. If the specification is being written for Category IV, enter the TEMPERATURE RANGE. If the specification is being written for Category IV, enter the MAXIMUM

41、HUMIDITY. If the specification is being written for Category IV, enter the PRESSURE RANGE. Enter the names of all ADDED TESTS. Leave this blank if no tests have been added to the environmental category. Enter the ASSESSMENT LEVEL if one of the suggested assessment levels has been selected. Leave thi
