31、upport of high speed packet data transmission 3 capability on TIA/EIA/IS-2000 spread spectrum systems. Packet data transmission is 4 supported on TIA/EIA/IS-2000 Traffic Channels using primary or secondary traffic. For 5 packet data transmission using Service Option 34, the Radio Link Protocol Type

32、3 specified 6 in TIA/EIA/IS-707-A-1.10 is used. 7 This standard specifies a packet data bearer service for communication between terminal 8 equipment and a packet interworking function (IWF) via a base station/mobile switching 9 center (BS/MSC). 10 Packet data service options provide a means of esta

33、blishing and maintaining Traffic 11 Channels for packet data service. Service Option 34 is used to request packet data service 12 through an IWF supporting CDPD data services over a PPP interface (see 4.1). Additional 13 packet data service options may be defined in future revisions to select other

34、types of IWF 14 resources or services. 15 1.2 Terms 16 Base Station (BS). A fixed station used for communicating with mobile stations. 17 Depending upon the context, the term base station may refer to a cell, a sector within a 18 cell, or other part of the wireless system. 19 BS.
