4、ehold and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1 or the applicable requirements inSections 8A through 8I.6.1 With reference to 2.1, all performance testing required by the Standard for Automatic ElectricalControls for Household and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1

5、, on the control is tobe performed with the control connected as intended to the motor.Exception: A motor control shall only need comply with the requirements for operating controls in UL60730-1, if the motor coil complies with the locked rotor performance criteria in the Standard for ThermallyProte

6、cted Motors, UL 1004-3, with motor control disconnected from the motor coils, and the power supplyfor the motor control connected directly across a single motor coil or any combination of motor coilsconnected in parallel.6.2 Any test conducted on the control that does not result in an obvious inabil

7、ity of the motor to operateas intended, characterized by a cessation of rotation, shall not result in a temperature of the motorwindings in excess of the values specified in Table 32.12 of UL 1004-1. Cessation of rotation isconsidered to be independent of an inability to start.6.3 Any test conducted

8、 on the control that results in an obvious inability of the motor to operate asintended, characterized by a cessation of rotation, shall not result in a temperature of the motor windingsin excess of the values specified in Table 841A.1 of UL 1004-3. Cessation of rotation is considered to beindepende

9、nt of an inability to start.Exception: Any test conducted on the control used within a motor intended for field installation shall notresult in a temperature of the motor windings in excess of the values specified in Table 32.1 of UL 1004-1.6.4 Any abnormal test conducted on the electronic protectio

10、n circuit that terminates as a result of acomponent failure, that failure mode shall be evaluated in a manner consistent with the requirements ofUL 60730-1 to ensure that the result is reliable and consistent.6.5 Controls evaluated to provide required motor overtemperature protection shall provide t

11、he followingrequired safety functions when evaluated to the requirements of UL 60730-1:UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULa) Locked rotor protection The control shall not allow motor temperatures in excess of theapplicable values

12、those specified in Table 841A.1 of UL 1004-3 under any test conditionrequired by UL 60730-1.b) Loss of phase (power supply phase not motor phase):1) Where loss of a power supply phase does not result in a cessation of rotation, thetemperature of the motor windings shall not exceed the applicable val

13、ues specified inTable 1041C.1 of UL 1004-3.2) Where loss of a power supply phase results in a cessation of rotation, thetemperature of the motor windings shall not exceed the applicable values specified inTable 41A8.1 of UL 1004-3.c) Running heating (at manufacturers option and declaration) The cont

14、rol shall not allowmotor temperature in excess of those specified in Table 10.1 of UL 1004-3 under any testcondition required by UL 60730-1.Exception: Controls used in motors to address a), b) and c) and intended for field installation shall notallow motor temperatures in excess of the values specif

15、ied in Table 32.1 of UL 1004-1.6.6 The electronic control evaluated by this Standard shall provide freedom from overheating of the motorcaused by the following events:a) Locked rotor;b) Loss of phase (power supply phase, not motor phase); andc) Running heating (at manufacturers option and declaratio

16、n).(NEW)10.2 Instructions shall be provided for motors intended for field installation and include:a) Instructions for installation and proper connection in the field, including a wiring diagram thatshows the intended methods of electrical connection to the supply circuit, and groundinginstructions.

17、b) The intended end-use application. Examples of intended applications include a motor forinstallation in an HVAC application ,or a motor intended to be used as a pool pump motor.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:Electronically protected motors can be used in a variety of applications, including the direct ins

18、tallation inthe field. This Certification Requirement Decision (CRD) is intended to document the requirements forfield-installed electronically-protected motors.One concern with electronically protected motors installed in the field is the risk of the motor overheatingwhen installed in the end-use a

19、pplication.STANDARD NUMBER: UL 1004-7 -2-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULField-installed UL 1004-7 motors are required to not exceed the normal temperature under any loadand/or any single fault condition (including locked-rotor

20、, loss-of-phase, and running heating, as well asunder component fault conditions on the electronic control. The motor will be required to operate attemperatures at or below the normal temperature limits for the insulation class of the motor.This CRD also documents minor editorial changes, including
