17、or the permanent storage device of a multiple-user computer in such a manner that this Standard may only be accessed by one user at a time and for which there is no possibility of multiple concurrent access. The original distribution diskette should be stored in a safe place. If a multiple-user vers

18、ion Standards-on-Diskette was purchased, one copy of the Standard may be stored on a single LAN file-server, or on the permanent storage device of a multiple-user computer. The number of concurrent users shall not exceed the number of users authorized for the Standards-on-Diskette version. The origi

19、nal distribution diskette should be stored in a safe place. Standards-on-Diskette are intended for on-line use, such as for viewing the requirements of a Standard, conducting a word search, and the like. (UL) under its Follow-Up Service for this category within the limitations given below and in the Scope section of this Standard. These requirements are based upon sound e

31、ngineering principles, research, records of tests and field experience, and an appreciation of the problems of manufacture, installation, and use derived from consultation with and information obtained from manufacturers, users, inspection authorities, and others having specialized experience. They

32、are subject to revision as further experience and investigation may show is necessary or desirable. B. The observance of the requirements of this Standard by a manufacturer is one of the conditions of the continued coverage of the manufacturers product. C. A product which complies with the text of t

33、his Standard will not necessarily be judged to comply with the Standard if, when examined and tested, it is found to have other features which impair the level of safety contemplated by these requirements. 38、y operated marine combustible gas indicating equipment for use in boats. 1.2 Marine combustible gas indicators are intended for permanent installation and for installation, maintenance, and use in accordance with the applicable requirements of the Standard for Fire Protection of Pleasure and Commerc

39、ial Motor-Craft, NFPA 302, or the American Boat and Yacht Council, Inc. 1.3 These requirements cover ignition-protected equipment that may be used on boats under 65 feet (19.8 m) in length, but do not cover marine combustible gas detectors intended for use in hazardous locations aboard vessels subje

40、ct to the U. S. Coast Guard electrical engineering regulations. 1.4 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements in this Standard, and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons sh

41、all be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as required to maintain the level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of this Standard. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific requireme

42、nts or provisions of this Standard is not judged to comply with this Standard. Where appropriate, revision of requirements are proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this Standard. 2 Glossary 2.1 For the purpose of this standard

43、, the following definitions apply 2.2 LOWER EXPLOSIVE LIMIT - The lowest concentration of a flammable gas or vapor in aK that will burn or explode. 2.3 MARINE COMBUSTIBLE GAS INDICATOR -One or more unit assemblies of electrical components that are constructed to detect and indicate the presence of a

44、 combustible gas or vapor aboard boats. 3 General 3.1 Components 3.1.1 Except as indicated in 3.1.2, a component of a product covered by this standard shall comply with the requirements for that component. See Appendix A for a list of standards covering components generally used in the products cove

45、red by this standard. 3.1.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that: a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in the product covered by this standard; or b) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard. 3.1.3 A compone

46、nt shall be used in accordance with its recognized rating established for the intended conditions of use. 6 MARINE COMBUSTIBLE GAS INDICATORS - UL 11 1 O SEPTEMBER 4,1997 3.1.4 Specific components are recognized as being incomplete in construction features or restricted in performance capabilities.

47、Such components are intended for use only under limited conditions, such as certain temperatures not exceeding specified limits, and shall be used only under those specific conditions for which they have been recognized. 3.2 Units of measurement 3.2.1 Unless otherwise indicated, all voltage and curr

48、ent values mentioned in this standard are rms. 3.2.2 If a value for measurement is followed by a value in other units in parentheses, the first stated value is the requirement. CONSTRUCTION 4 Materials 4.1 A material used in an indicator shall be acceptable for use in a marine environment. 4.2 A met

49、allic component of an indicator that is necessary for the indicator to perform its intended function and that may be exposed to corrosive conditions, such as a bilge combustible gas indicator, shall be fabricated of metals or metal alloys that are inherently resistant to corrosion in salt atmospheres (see Salt-Spray Corrosion Test, Section 13). Other metallic components shall be provided with a corrosion-resistant coating or equivalently protected against corrosion. Metal combinations shall be galvanically compatible. 5 Operation 5.1 An indicator shall be constructed
