4、e waters surface at a point within 3 m (10 ft.)from the test participants position and beyond.Exception: Type III devices are not required to comply with 24.4.24.5 In the position of relaxed face-up static balance, for all test participants, the average of the lowestmark on a vertical scale, which i

5、s placed 6 m (20 ft.) in front of the subject so that the test participant seesthe scale without moving his or her head, shall not be higher than 0.3 m (12 in.) from the water level. Forperformance Type II and III devices, test participants are able to reposition the head and the device, whenapplica

6、ble, and then relax for the measurement.Exception: Type III devices are not required to comply with 24.5.SA6.4.2 When tested as specified in UL 1180, Section 24.5 with CO2inflation, test participants are ableto reposition the head, re-adjust the device on the body and orally adjust inflation and the

7、n relax for themeasurement. After these adjustments the average lowest mark on a vertical scale shall be equal to orless than that of the average lowest mark of the hybrid-inflatable reference vest.Exception: Type III devices are not required to comply with SA6.4.2.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:The rationa

8、l for this certification requirement decision is to better align Type III inflatable devices with TypeIII inherently buoyant devices, as defined within UL 1123 and the proposed requirements within UL12402-5 regarding recreational Level 70 devices.This certification requirement decision clarifies tha

9、t the low mark requirements are not applicable to TypeIII recreational inflatable devices. Since these devices, like Type III inherently buoyant devices, areintended to be used by conscious wears in sheltered waters, the premise of the clarification is that asubject should be able to reposition thei
