3、on TestsDECISION:13.1 The unvented decorative appliance is to be observed for a stable burner flame. Samples of thecombustion products are to be analyzed for maximum smoke density, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide,nitrogen dioxide, and oxygen concentration in accordance with 13.2 - 13.9. See 10.2 for

4、 details on fluegas analysis. The hood as described in 10.2.3 is not required for the test described in 13.2 - 13.9 (sealedroom), but not shall be required for the test described in 13.10 (open room).RATIONALE FOR DECISION:This Certification Requirement Decision is intended to document the safety re

5、quirements for the hoodassembly, as shown in Figure 10.4, required usage for the Combustion Tests. The current language ofparagraph 13.1 appears to be reversed. To be consistent with other unvented standards, the hood shouldbe used in the open room and not in the closed room. Primarily, the open roo

6、m combustion test is ameasure of the products of combustion. Therefore, using the hood would assist in getting a concentrationof the flue gases into the analyzer while minimizing dilution air. The closed room test is a measure ofoxygen depletion and therefore, using the hood could potentially yield

7、incorrect/non-representative valuesdue to a concentration of the emissions being measured in lieu of an average for the entire room.
