14、m.10A.2 Within 10.0 seconds of an actuator signal a PVRSS shall maintain controlled conductors at a limitof not more than 30 Vdc, or 15 Vac, 8A and may not exceed 240 volt-amperes, PVRSE are evaluated toperform specific functions within PVRSS as defined by their specified functions and ratings.Note:
15、 PVRSS and PVRSE are required and defined by NEC 690.12.10A.3 An uninsulated live part involving a risk of electric shock or electrical energy-high current levelsshall be located, guarded, or enclosed to protect against unintentional contact by personnel who may becalled on to activate the actuating
16、 device while the equipment is energized.10A.4 A complete system that performs PVRSS functionality shall:A. Include at least one actuator as defined in 2.49AB. Provide one or more of the status indicators as detailed in Section 13C.C. Comply with either Section 13A, Electrical Isolation Systems or S

21、e of the following UL 508, UL 508I, UL 98, UL 98A, UL 98B, UL489, UL 489A, or UL 489B.10A.9 EOAS or EIS that include and rely upon multiple distributed switching devices or equipment thatare intended to operate as a group to perform PVRSS function shall be evaluated considering the effectof individu
22、al equipment failures with respect to the overall system functionality and operation. This shallinclude, but not be limited to:A. The possibility that failure of one component to operate may cause operative failures in othersystem equipment or components,B. The possible effects of an incomplete inst
23、allation (not a full complement of system equipmentor components being used) upon the operation of the system as a whole. Possible failuremodes shall be simulated during evaluation testing.C. The effects of delayed switching of multiple independent electrical and electrical/mechanicalswitching eleme
24、nts in the context of a system.D. The effects on the ability of multiple units to simultaneously receive and respond to theactuator signal including but not limited to signal loss or signal attenuation from conductorlength and impedance.10A.10 In addition to the applicable requirements and tests in
25、Sections 4 through 61. Electrical OutputAttenuation Systems and Electrical Isolation Systems shall be subjected to the tests in Section 47A.10A.11 During testing of systems, failures as noted in 10A.9 shall be assessed as to their impact uponthe ability of the overall system to operate as intended.
26、If a failure of a single piece of PVRSS equipmentwithin a system results in failure of the remaining portions of the system to isolate or attenuate controlledconductors, or results in additional system equipment becoming disabled, the failure mode involved shallbe evaluated using functional safety r

An PVRSS that relies upon Software or wireless communication for the initiation of safetyfunctions shall be provided with a means or a method by which correct operation of the productcan
28、 be verified.B. Operation of a Self-Test may be automatic, or conducted through a manual actuator, orconducted through manually initiation of the safety functions covered.C. A Rapid Shutdown System that includes a self-test function or method shall comply with47A.710A.13 Inverters which are rated to
29、 provide PVRSS functionality or that are used as elements of PVRSSshall be evaluated to the applicable clauses in this standard and if applicable all inverter input and outputcircuits shall be evaluated to the applicable clauses in section 47A.10A.14 PVRSS which incorporate voltage sensitive devices

31、its which pass between PVRSS system devices, or between PVRSS systemdevices and PV system equipment shall meet the same requirements as controlled conductors.10A.16 A single switching devices shall be individually rated to make and break the current for the PVRSSfunction it performs. Multiple switch
32、ing devices operating in series configurations are addressed in 10A.17.10A.17 For PVRSS that incorporate multiple distributed switching devices intended to operate together ina series configurations, the individual switching devices shall be rated for interruption of the voltage andcurrent for the P
33、VRSS function they perform, (i.e. string current at the maximum system voltage)Exception No. 1: Systems provided with a means (such as “soft start” or “soft stop” controls) to preventindividual series switching device operation (e.g. “hard” switching) outside of their electrical ratings maybe used i
34、f the devices are maintained within their ratings during use.Exception No. 2: Devices which are not rated for the maximum system voltage and current, and lack areliable or adequate means to prevent asynchronous or “hard” switching shall be subjected to the test in47A.4.The sum of the individual volt
35、age ratings for the switches used in any system shall be equal to or greaterthan the rated maximum system voltage regardless of testing or other protective means provided.10A.18 PVRSS and PVRSE rated as “High Reliability” shall comply with one of, or a combination of thefunctional safety based appro
36、aches which are described in section 31A “High Reliability Equipment andSystems functional safety” as necessary to evaluate the intended functionality of the PVRSS.10.A.19 PVRSE which is intended for mounting on PV modules shall comply with the requirements inSection 81 through 86 which apply to the
37、 attachment and evaluation of inverters used on PV modules.Exception: Devices which are not designed for connection to AC line circuits are not required to complywith requirements which are specific to that usage.10A.20 Upon loss of control power a PVRSS shall either continue to operate normally wit
38、h full functionalityor it shall initiate a shutdown by placing the Controlled Conductors in a safe state complying with either13A or 13B. A PVRSS that makes use of backup or stored power to operate, shall initiate shutdown uponloss of the backup power supply.10A.21 An PVRSS that relies upon micropro
39、cessor functions, low voltage logic circuitry, or wirelesscommunication for the initiation of safety functions shall comply with 47A.6 PVRSS Radiated EMI test.Exception: Individual equipment and or components which do not incorporate microprocessor functions,low voltage logic circuitry, or wireless
40、communication are not required to comply with the above test,except insofar as exposure to EMI may interfere with system operations via interconnections with othersystem equipment and components.13A Electrical Isolation Systems (EIS).General This section addresses the requirements for EIS equipment
41、intended to isolate PV string orarray output(s) as a means to provide protection from electric shock from energized circuits. Theserequirements cover equipment intended to respond to operational stimuli, signals, manual and/orautomatic commands to take action and electrically isolate a circuit(s) su

Thisequipment may be used in conjunction with additional isolating means and over current protection.The isolation function can be performed by a standalone isolation component or dev
44、ice, or the isolationfunction can be built into a piece of system equipment that additionally performs other functions.13A.1 EIS equipment and components shall have electrical and environmental ratings suitable for theinstallation location. PVRSS switching components / devices shall be rated for int
45、erruption of the PVRSSmaximum rated voltage and the maximum rated short circuit current.Exception: switching devices of a PVRSS that are not exposed to Maximum PV open circuit voltage orMaximum available PV short circuit current due to PVRSS design features may be rated for the maximumvoltage and cu
46、rrent levels present in the end use. This exception does not apply to devices which areconnected in a series string. Devices which are connected in a series string shall comply with 47A.4.13A.2 When actuated, an EIS shall provide electrical isolation for all pairs of controlled conductors andcontrol
47、led conductors to ground within 10 seconds of an actuator signal. Electrical isolation shall bemaintained until the system or device is manually re-set.13A.3 Electrical isolation shall be provided for the system voltage rating by use of air gap switching andor isolating devices, or other devices tha
48、t act to provide physical and/or electrical disconnection betweenpower sources connected to the protected circuit conductors.13A.4 Each controlled conductor circuit shall also be isolated from conductors and power sources in otherelectrical circuits.13A.5 In addition to requirements for the specific
